Italymom, you would have been charged the volumetric weight if you sent your animals as cargo. This is usually a lot more than the gross weight, eg, my dog plus cage will weigh approx 25kg gross, but the volumetric weight is 71kgs - which is the chargeable rate. I think excess baggage is 110dhs for the gross weight, so this works out a lot cheaper if you are able to do it that way.

Hi, I'm also in the process of relocating our dogs and after many emails Emirates sent me a spreadsheet to work out the cost. You will need to find the volumetric weight of the travel box, then it's 70.15 dhs per kg, plus 4.10 dhs per kg of the gross weight, and approx 300 dhs in customs and other charges. I've found a lot of info on DKC website, and will try to do as much as I can myself as the agents tend to charge around 3,000dhs. HTH

I'm pretty sure Masafi are the only company using BPA free bottles. If the bottles are re-used, then they're not BPA free. As much as the service from Masafi is RUBBISH right now, I will persevere as I do like the water, the plastic and it doesn't contain fluoride - but Nestle and other companies do!

I saw the video based on the book in youtube a few months ago and its really mind blowing! I have been trying to do a forefoot strike, but do end up feeling like a horse... (the scene in the movie, Black Beauty, just after beauty wears the saddle for the first time, and is taken to ride, you see him stepping out one foot at a time, thats the feeling :) ) I did notice that trying an all out run in a forefoot strike does not get me anywhere... however trying to jog and then increase the number of steps and speed from the jog helps to keep in forefoot mode longer... still figuring it out though... *hope I made some sense* Just make sure you're leaning slightly forward with your foot landing beneath you, not outstretched, then increase/decrease your cadence (speed) as necessary. As long as you're doing that any heelstrike won't be as bad. I'm also trying to do this and feel like I'm just shuffling along looking very awkward but I'm hoping that will improve with time and practice! :)

My DH recently converted to Newton's and loves them. He was struggling with a knee injury for months so went to Up and Running on Al Wasl road and they recommended them with his custom orthotics. The trick with natural running is to change your running style. You should shorten your stride to land midfoot/forefoot right below your centre of gravity. A lot of people buy the barefoot shoes but still heelstrike, which can cause even more, and sometimes worse injury. A good book to read is Born To Run by Christopher McDougall. :)

After getting your gait analysis, why not think about getting either a pair of Vibram Five Fingers or Newton's which are for 'barefoot' running. This should help with your plantar fascitis as you don't land on your heel. VFF's are available at Athlete's Foot and Newton's at Adventure HQ in Times Square. Good luck with your training!

A few weeks ago while preparing a chicken for a lovely Sunday roast, I noticed a pointy follicle near it's bottom end and, thinking it was a bit of feather, went to pull it out but instead got a lot of thick pus like yellow ooze. Gross! So our roast went straight in the bin. Then tonight, it happened again! Both chickens were fresh and from the same well known grocery chain. On closer inspection tonight it looks like it might have been a cyst from an injection site maybe? It doesn't look like fat to me. Has anyone else seen this or know what it could be? Either way I don't think I'll be buying chickens from there again.

Sarahk, I'm sorry I lost your email. Can you please send again - as my DH is now hassling me. Thanks!
