Congratulations! Wonderful news. I would only recommend Dr George Michelades and Dr Pour Mirza. Trust them both implicitly. If they were to recommend another Dr, I would consider them too. But after seeing many of the ;what Dubai consider the best of favorite Dr, I would steer clear in the event of me being pregnant again. After having a very complicated twin preg myself.

Hello, I am hoping you can all help me. I am trying to present a case to my company to improve our maternity policy I am trying to find out, which are the best policies in other companies in Dubai as they do seem to think we are amongst the best. So I am looking to hear about any companies that offer more than 60 calendar days maternity leave, paid or unpaid. TIA It is UAE labor law to offer 45 days paid and up to 100 days unpaid for maternity leave. Unpaid leave needs to be medically motivated but any gyne would motivate this if you were planning to go back to work 45 days after giving birth. My previous company (British Mnc) provided 3 months paid maternity leave.

Just want to add we recently took our car in for car detailing... honestly 9 hours later our car looked brand new (minor scratches and one not so minor scratch were polished out the paint and could not be seen) and the interior looked brand new too. I was not expecting them to do such a good job! So now I know how these car dealerships get the pre-owned vehicles looking so smart.

Hi, Please I need help understanding how terminating the contract works. - My LL is arguing that the handover day is the day they finished doing all the repair work after we left, not the day we actually gave the keys over. This doesn't make sense to me - it took her 15 days to get this done, and she's charging me for those 15 days of rent. - We terminated the contract before the end of the year - which I understand requires a 2 month penalty. What does this mean? lets say I had 6 months left. I notify her with 6 months left, so I get 4 months back? Please, any help or experience in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot! If the agreed penalty in your tenancy contact is 2 months, that should be the total sum you are penalised. It would not include the 15 days or so it took to repair any damages - if these repairs were arranged and paid for by the landlord. (Saying this, you will most likely forfeit your deposit if the apartment required repairs like this?) We had a similar situation and took it to RERA and won the case...

thx for your comment.. but its actually should be against the law to not hire a pregnant woman !! i know in the US it is It should be against the law to discriminate but I have heard and experienced so much discrimination due to pregnancy. Would suggest you keep the information to yourself until you are offered a position and then you can disclose. I have read somewhere that you should tell your employer that you are pregnant 8 weeks before your delivery date .. You don't think that they'd figure it out by then? That is 32 weeks pregnant! I don't believe there is any stipulated law. However I think honesty is always better for us. Saying that... I would disclose this information after I receive an offer, so that I know I've done the right thing by disclosing and if they are a fair employer they appreciate me being honest upfront.

Does anyone know of any cancer awareness events that are happening in the near future? Being South African there was (10 years ago, not sure if it still takes place) a shave-a-thon where people could go and shave their hair off to raise awareness for cancer and also donate their hair to make wigs for cancer survivors. My sister has recently been diagnosed with cancer and she has started losing her hair because of the chemo. We are all heartbroken but are supporting her and I would actually like to shave my hair. Would want to donate my hair, but not sure if this is possible in the UAE? Does anyone have any info or advice regarding this?

Wouldn't say it was quick. It was quite busy the weekend we went through and I recall it being around AED 350 +/- to exit and for the car insurance. If you are in a leased car, you need permission for the car hire company.

Dr George is amazing! I saw him at the American hospital a few years ago. He and Dr Mirza are the only 2 drs I will see if I'm ever pregnant again. Don't let Dr Mirza's manner put you off. He is a fantastic Dr and when I was pregnant and needed special treatment, laser ablation key hole surgery. I went to see him and he asked me who I wanted to have the treatment with. As in anyone in the world who would I want to see. I said Professor Kypros Nicolaides. Who is one of the world experts. Dr Mirza pulled out his phone, called Professor Nicolaides and by the end of that day I had all the medical documents needed to apply for my UK medical visa. I will never forget that!

I did this 2 days ago, not leaving, just changing banks. All you need is your passport. However because the account had an overdraft and credit cards, they request this is cancelled - takes 2 days and then only once all credit cards and overdraft cancelled, can you close the account. Heading back tomorrow to hopefully close the account and then will never deal with the worlds local bank EVER again!

I'd help her find a new situation. Give her a great reference, advertise etc, and let her take it from there. Everyone needs to move on sometime and this sounds like the time she needs to make a fresh start with a new family. If she's as good as she sounds, she won't have any problems finding a good position. You'll get your space back, you won't be wasting your money on someone who you may grow to resent because there's not really a fulltime job at present ... Job done. :) I find at times I'm already getting resentful. Which is wrong, I know. Thanks for your advice.

I have wanted to go back to work, but I am torn. It has been really important to me that I'm with our children and be here for them. I thought if the right position comes up, I'll take it. But that decision causes more confusion than anything. In the same breathe I think then, all working moms must feel torn, I know I did before I gave up my career 3 years ago. My priority is being with the children. But I really miss working and would love to go back to work too.

Zebra Crossing is on SZR, right at the Noor Islamic Bank Metro stop. It is ideal for both kids as it has the big slides and section to run around/dress up etc as well as the soft play and toy area for the younger kids. They used to do an offer of 350 dhs for a 3 month membership for 2 kids and I used that and it worked out well for me. Curly I recommend them too

Sorry you are in this situation. This happened to my brother and he started the court proceedings with a lawyer over 3 years ago, Jan 2010. The case has only now received final judgement with all appeals and obviously granted in my brothers favor. If you are going to do this, know it will take a lot of time and money from your end. If there is any way you can avoid court and come to agreement with your employer to pay the money in installments back to you, I would advise that. When he started the proceedings we NEVER thought it would take along as it did. Good luck. Also want to add my brother had one of the best local lawyers too so things moved as efficiently as they could in this situation. May I ask if his company disputed the amount or was it a matter of the company just didn't have the money? The company had the money then, they just stalled and never pitched for court appearances. It is only wrapping up now and my brother still hasn't seen a cent of money from his ex employer.

Wow, I'm amazed and stunned that you would even contemplate your 4 year-old getting herself dressed for school without help! Congratulations! Just out of pure curiosity, is this not normal? In our house, DH is off to work very early so DD and I have breakfast together then we go our separate ways and get dressed... She is four and has been doing it solo for a loooong time! She gets her step, gets her clothes out of the wardrobe, underwear out of the drawer, gets dressed, brushes her teeth then comes into my room with her hairband / hairslides to have her hair done (hasn't mastered that yet, haha!). I never thought about it being unusual...! My son will be 4 in a couple of months and he gets up, gets dressed and ready for the day. Even over the weekends, he likes to get himself dressed. Mostly in his jeans and insists on his belt! Button up shirt! Think he likes to look like his dad. But to answer your question, I think that by this age they should be able to dress themselves.

Depends on how much you need to lose but most people seeking doctor's advice need to lose a significant amount and sports are not good when someone is very obese - joints can get injured easily etc. She did not push me to do sports until I wanted so. She gave me appetite suppressant ( reductil, which worked extremely well for me, but they stopped selling it, so I guess these days there are other pills). Dentro how much did you lose? Eta typo! edited by burnsie000 on 15/02/2013

It's as safe as using your mobile phone or living in your home which is filled with electro magnetic frequencies / radiation or visiting that shopping mall for half hour which would have the highest reading of EMF's.... Did u read the article? Ten Reasons to Throw out your Microwave Oven From the conclusions of the Swiss, Russian and German scientific clinical studies, we can no longer ignore the microwave oven sitting in our kitchens. Based on this research, we will conclude this article with the following: Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term - permanent - brain damage by "shorting out" electrical impulses in the brain [de-polarizing or de-magnetizing the brain tissue'>. The human body cannot metabolize [break down'> the unknown by-products created in microwaved food. Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods. The effects of microwaved food by-products are residual [long term, permanent'> within the human body. Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit, or the human body absorbs altered compounds that cannot be broken down. The minerals in vegetables are altered into cancerous free radicals when cooked in microwave ovens. Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal cancerous growths [tumors'>. This may explain the rapidly increased rate of colon cancer in America. The prolonged eating of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood. Continual ingestion of microwaved food causes immune system deficiencies through lymph gland and blood serum alterations. Eating microwaved food causes loss of memory, concentration, emotional instability, and a decrease of intelligence. ..... Microwave sickness is discovered The Russians did research on thousands of workers who had been exposed to microwaves during the development of radar in the 1950's. Their research showed health problems so serious that the Russians set strict limits of 10 microwatts exposure for workers and one microwatt for civilians. In Robert O. Becker's book, The Body Electric, he described Russian research on the health effects of microwave radiation, which they called "microwave sickness." On page 314, Becker states: "It's [Microwave sickness'> first signs are low blood pressure and slow pulse. The later and most common manifestations are chronic excitation of the sympathetic nervous system [stress syndrome'> and high blood pressure. This phase also often includes headache, dizziness, eye pain, sleeplessness, irritability, anxiety, stomach pain, nervous tension, inability to concentrate, hair loss, plus an increased incidence of appendicitis, cataracts, reproductive problems, and cancer. The chronic symptoms are eventually succeeded by crisis of adrenal exhaustion and ischemic heart disease [the blockage of coronary arteries and heart attacks'>." According to Dr. Lee, changes are observed in the blood chemistries and the rates of certain diseases among consumers of microwaved foods. The symptoms above can easily be caused by the observations shown below. The following is a sample of these changes: Lymphatic disorders were observed, leading to decreased ability to prevent certain types of cancers. An increased rate of cancer cell formation was observed in the blood. Increased rates of stomach and intestinal cancers were observed. Higher rates of digestive disorders and a gradual breakdown of the systems of elimination were observed.

Eyes almost swollen shut. When I saw her, I asked her if I could pls take her to the dr, as I was worried about her and she looked terrible. She said no, I insisted, she refused. Dh gets home minutes later and sees his mother and asks to take her to the dr, she agrees and says she thinks its a good idea. As if I never asked her....

Aloe Vera for me has transformed my health. I started drinking it in April, when by that stage I'd been on 9 courses of anti biotics since the beginning of the year. It boosts your immune system, has over 200 different mineral and vitamin compounds. Everyone knows aloe Vera is amazing on the skin, renewing cells and used for burn victim. But internally you have 'surface' and it as the same renewing effect internally, from lungs to your digestive system. I'm seeing the healing effects of this and feeling it. Since April I had not been sick until last week, result of a spider bite and food poisoning. While some people have been known to be allergic to Aloe. I believe in Aloe Vera. Watch out for which brand you drink, you want something as close to the natural plant itself, with little to no additives. It's not meant to be smooth or sweet. No doubt in my mind Aloe Vera Gelly, use it once and mine are gone! I was having root canal recently and the dentist slipped with the syringe in my mouth and literally sliced the top of my gums....... (I felt the slip but didnt realise my gum was cut) Was in so much pain for the next day until I realised that I had this cut in my mouth. Used the Aloe Vera Gelly on the cut, the next day - I felt no pain from the cut.

We had this problem about 4 months ago. We had to move out our villa for 3 days while everything was unblocked and fixed properly. Friends who were also in the Springs ended up having a 'load' of sewerage deposited downstairs...... I'm sure there are a lot more people on here that have had similar issues, especially in the Springs, as M+ who we used... said this happens daily(!!!!) in the Springs. If you can still smell the sewerage, then call them back to check that no pipes have burst and get them to do a complete check. HTH
