Thank you everyone for your kind words :) Looking back, I suppose I did use the wrong word but my animals are important to me. We have moved to two different countries since adopting her 5 years ago, we also adopted 3 other cats and of course they came with us. The last place we lived she really became a friendly cat, she was so lovely. Since moving back to Dubai she has again become very anti-social. We adopted a kitten around 8 weeks ago and she has gotten worse. We did it all by the book, nice and slowly, letting my others into the kittens room to get her scent etc..., she just will not accept her. She is now aggressive to my others, she goes off and doesn't come back for days no matter what I do. I have now had to keep her in and she is clearly very unhappy. I am now at a loss! I just don't know what to do to make her calm down. I give her loads of love and attention, more than the others, but it isn't making the slightest difference! I am going to ring the person that was suggested to see if she can help! Or if anyone out there maybe has been through the same and could give me some advice I would be very grateful?

Thank you for those that have helped, I will get in touch with them and see what they suggest. For those that have made fun of me, one of my cats is having major problems and no kind of food will help. It is affecting my other cats and ourselves as well. I have tried everything I can think of and what the vet has suggested but with no success. I happen to love my animals and want them all to be happy. If doing something out of the norm helps that to happen, then so be it!

When I adopted mine a couple of years ago it was around 500 aed. Well worth every fil. They have brought us both so much joy. The 500 is there to cover all the vaccinations etc... that they have paid for, it is a charity afterall, and to make sure that whoever adopts is serious. If you are not sure if you can commit to that, please do consider fostering, that way you are helping some poor cat and maybe find the cat that you will fall in love with and want to have forever

I gave the keys back because he was a good landlord. Anything that needed doing I just got in touch with this guy and he had someone there to sort it out. Was leaving the country within days of vacating the villa and stupidly thought there would not be any problem! I don't know anyone personally that is Arab, friends do though, but, it is breaking the law impersonating a police officer and I would never ask anyone to do that for me. Back in my home country, wouldn't think twice about it, but, Dubai a different matter. Not answering his mobile to me or my friend. A few weeks ago, I must have rang him around 15 times, no answer. Emailed, no answer for a couple of weeks. I then get a email saying he was out of the country so couldn't answer his phone and could I give him my phone number!!! Told him he already had it as it was the missed calls he had just appologised about not answering!!!!! I left comments on the Alokozay Tea and Tissue facebook page. The Tea one has deleted my comments and has taken away the option to comment further. It is still sitting on the Tissue one. Not expecting it to be there in the morning! It is so frustrating. I am not asking for anything other than my money back. It is not theirs, it never was, so I don't know what could possibly be the problem. I know he is still working for the company as the odd reply I get is in the company email address! Does anything think if I got in touch with the police they would do anything about it? Just a thought!

Thanks Ladies :) I am on linkedin but to be honest I have never used it. Although aed 9000 is a lot of money, this isn't all about that. It is about the being lied to, ignored and totally disrespected!! Just because I have left the country does not give anyone the right to forget I exist especially when the owe me money!!! Hoots, that is the only one I found as well. Plan of action over the weekend - Hound them on Facebook, contact RERA and Dubai consumer protection (they were so good when we had a problem with cobone, couldn't fault them) Become a full member of Linkedin and hound everyone who works for Alokozay, write to 7 days and any other newspaper in the hope they will print. You Ladies have given me lots to go on. I will keep you updated. If anyone has anymore suggestions I would be very grateful if you would share them with me. Thank you all :) And have a wonderful weekend

You could inform him that if you're not able to get a respond you may have to go public and request for help in obtaining your deposit back. As long as you have his details, he can run but he cannot hide. Even more when it goes public. I told him I would go to RERA, he has ignored my emails. I am just so angry. Mr Alokozay is a very well known business man as I am sure you all know, tea, tissue's, lots of things including around 80 properties in Dubai. Going public as in News papers? RERA? Have thought about the consumer protection people but I don't think they could help me, but I am going to try! I have just finished putting a comment Mr Alokozays tea and tissue facebook page. I would understand to a point if I left the property in a bad state. When I handed the keys over, he was shocked at how clean it was and no damage at all! Yet he does this! If I have to go to Dubai to fight for my deposit, does anyone know if I would have any right to also get my flights and expenses reimbursed, or would I have to take him to court for that? Sorry, off on a rant again!

Thanks for the feedback ladies :) HorizonMum2, like I said they are a very big company so I have found that on facebook they do have a page for both their Tea and tissue's. Have thought about bombarding them, but experience in Dubai did teach me, if it has nothing to do with them/ department then nothing happens. Think I will try it anyway, nothing to lose. @hoots, have googled but only came up with his businesses, he is massive, that is why I am sure he won't know what is going on. Never thought of Linkedin, will try that as well, thank you. @ AlwaysCurious, thought of 7 days but DH reckons don't p*** the guy off or he might find excuses not to pay us at all (not that we are getting it now)! Has a point, I just personally thing that the landlord would find out about something like that and want to know what the h@ll is going on! @AlwaysCurious, good idea, worth a try. @sarahlou123, didn't think the rent committee would be interested in refund of a deposit, but worth a try, all they can say is, no can't help you. Thank you so much Ladies, you have given me avenue's to explore, instead of sitting here frustrated and angry not knowing what to do. I do vow though, they will not get away with it. DH has already suggested I go next week!

When handing back my villa, I was assured that my aed 9000 deposit would be refunded within 2-3 days to a friend of mine, in her name as I was leaving the country. After countless emails, (my calls and emails are now being ignored) it still has not been refunded, it is now 10 weeks later. My friend who will be receiving the cheque on my behalf has also tried numerous times to call, he does not answer. This is a big company, so I am pretty sure my ex landlord is unaware of what is going on. I just have no idea how to contact him. So if anyone works for or knows someone who works for Alokozay could help me. I have done everything asked of me twice over. I keep when my email is answered being given stupid excuses. I do not have an office number or address as it first went through an agent then the guy who works for Alokozay took over from them. If anyone has any suggestion as to what I can possibly do, I would be grateful. I am not going it write that money off even if I have to spend more going back to Dubai! Sorry for the rant Ladies!

My friend got like that. She was used to working full time, since arriving in Dubai she had nothing really to occupy herself. It took a long time but, she got herself off the couch and found a school that was desperate for help as in voluntary assistant, only for a couple of days a week. She loved it. She went home for the summer and in that time her DH found a job in their home country so she hasn't gone back (she did inform them as soon as she knew) So how about some charity work? Hobbies you just do when you feel like it, if you commit yourself to something then it gives you a reason to get off the couch and do something, plus you are helping those less fortunate and if you do look for a job, it can look pretty good on a CV

I agree with Forevertheoptimist. He sounds depressed to me. The not caring, the sleeping etc... Maybe he really is trying to get work but it just isn't coming his way. I would certainly talk to him calmly. Try not to say negative things about him like, I'm working all day and you haven't bothered to do this, that or the other. He might be feeling rather useless at the moment and that could push him further down. If he can't or won't open up to you, suggest he see's a counselor, it might do you both the world of good. Good luck

Does anyone live in a Villa, but doenst have a car What are good areas, where taxis are reliable , by calling one? I have lived here for six years and don't drive. Three and a half years of that I have been living in a villa's in two different places. The one I am in now is far away from anything including a shop. I have never had a problem with taxi's except when we decide to go out on a Thursday night, but then we wouldn't drive anyway!

Stuff is on dubizzle and on here. The main thing is my table and chairs, cash converters said that it wouldn't be worth them selling it, they have taken the cooker though. We are now thinking of taking our dining set with us. We do love it and it took us a long time to find what we wanted. That can be the one thing I take from Dubai :D

Sadly it's the wrong time of year to be selling things. So many people are leaving and trying to get rid of furniture. I'm having to put all my big items in storage as I'd literally be giving them away and I'm not prepared to do that. We might have to do that ourselves. We have just reduced the price drastically but that is as far as I am prepared to go :(

I have found the past few months the service has just improved soooo much! Not just taxi's arriving on time but they are early. I get phone calls from the call center to make sure the driver has turned up and last week peek time, I received a call to let me know that my taxi will be late because of the demand at that time but they will get one to me asap! It was late but only by 15 mins! You do get the odd driver that does the drop call, but I did hear (don't know if it is true) that it is their own credit they use. Considering the amount of money they earn and the amount of calls they must have to make, I really don't mind at all. One thing though, I always, always cancel a taxi if I don't need it for whatever reason. edited by Buttercup on 27/06/2013

I have been here 6 years and never driven. For the past three years in a villa out the way, no shops, restaurants, in fact nothing. It did worry me that I would feel isolated but I haven't. Sometimes it would be a pain to get a taxi but the service has really improved lately. The only time I really have had problems is if we were going for a night out on a Thursday so wouldn't be driving anyway and we used to have the same problem when we lived in JBR so being out of the way has made no difference at all.

Thanks for all the replies. Went to Pattaya and didn't want to live anywhere near the center of town. We finally found a nice villa just outside Pattaya by the beach. Lovely and peaceful. Looked at Jomtiem, problem we found with that is, a bit too far away for my husband to be driving to work every day. Thanks again ladies for your input :)

A house is important to us. We did apartment living here and was so glad to get out and into a villa with our own outdoor space. We are taking our 4 cats with us as well and they are outdoor cats so it wouldn't be fair to them to keep them cooped up. I have heard it called sin city so we know what we are going to lol Just don't want to be right in it! I am very tempted to tell those agents where to go with their 2 properties and hire a driver as you suggest. Thank you so much for your advice, we would have just gone along with the agents wondering why there was such a shortage on accommodation lol Thanks again ChocolateQueen, now I know I won't be taking any messing from them :D

Hi Buttercup. I haven't lived in Pattaya, but I've lived in both Bangkok and Phuket for a total of four years and have been to Pattaya and Jomtien a few times. I can give you some tips on how to find good places to live, easily. You said that you're going this weekend. How long will you spend there to look for a place to live? How big of a place do you need- a one bedroom, 2 bedroom, etc, and when will you be moving there for good? This would give a good idea of what the rent should be. Will you be working there? This is important because you want to live somewhere with easy access to your work. I can suggest that you only look for place once you are there. Hire a driver for a day (or two), and just take a look in a few different areas, down along the sois or away from the noisy bars and all that come with Pattaya. Have you considered Jomtien? It's right beside Pattaya, but it's a bit quieter and more family oriented. Re the agents, they're playing games. There are loads of places for rent, but the trick is to just go and see them for yourself. Thank you ChocolateQueen We have thought about Jomtiem and Bangsaray. We are flying tomorrow night so land Thursday morning and fly back Sunday morning. I know exactly what I want. Minimum 3 bed, 2 bath, good kitchen, private garden, private pool, near expat community. I won't be working yet but my husband will. We have checked and it will take him 45 mins to drive to work, he is ok with that. We just want to find somewhere we can stay and not have to move like we have here for one reason or another! I have said not near the center of Pattaya, somewhere where there are nice bars and restaurants. One agent said it is because the landlords don't let them know when a place has been rented out or sold. I found it very hard to believe that was all they had. I am starting to feel very vulnerable because I don't know what I am going into and don't want to feel conned :( If it would be best I looked myself, how do I get access to the properties I would like to view?
