Buttercup, this woman chose to do what she did, in a country that is not shy about publishing the punishment for trafficking drugs.... she chose this. I understand what you are saying and I am not disagreeing, what I am disagreeing with is that they would have a death penalty, to me that is just as wrong!

I have never and will never believe in the death penalty. She is a very stupid woman and she deserves and very harsh punishment, but death? To me that is murder! But is it murder when you go to a country knowing that they have the death penalty; when you go there with the sole intention of committing a crime which has the death penalty? Would this not be suicide? I have had this debate for the past 40 years. I do not believe that there should ever, anywhere be a law that makes it legal for the state to kill someone. I understand the argument that why should they be kept at the country's/tax payers expense. The reason being is, like this woman, do you know the in's and outs of the reason/s why she did what she did? Do you have any idea of her mental state? Don't get me wrong if it was just for the money then I believe people ought to be made to suffer on this earth, be made to pay, killing them takes away the remorse, the guilt, the punishment. In my eyes you do something wrong for your own greed, you pay for it and pay for it you will if left up to me. Just my opinion! cue unrepentant criminals and overflowing prisons! Just because they are unrepentant does not make them disposable!

Personally if I had the chance to go, I would. It isn't about one person, it is about the whole show. The music, the dancing the singing. Everyone contributes to make it as wonderful as it is. I have never seen it live but I love the DVD :)

May be a bit far for you but Fish and Fry I thi k it is called next to Oregano and the pInk mosque on 15th Street Mirdif is pretty much as close to a decent UK chippy, about 35 AED a supper...but be warned portions are huge so order less than you may normally![/quote Is that with Haddock?

The best dine in fish and chips, haddock is the Dhow and Anchor in JBH. The best takeaway so far, a bit hit and miss though is Bobs in Dubai Marina. The Dhow and Anchor is well worth a visit though. Hope you enjoy :D

TDB, Call the dealer, I believe that the spinning thingy (got no idea what's named) is getting loos, they need to stablize it. one more thing: do not have a washing machine that drys as well, otherwise the washing load will take so long to finish, get the basic model, and just get a separate dryer. Have to totally agree with the separate drier, had both and just found the drier on the washer drier was just no good! Friends said exactly the same in their experience!

When we moved here just over 5 years ago, we were given a very small allowance to furnish a 2 bed apartment so we got the cheapest of everything. We bought a Campomatic washing machine and dishwasher expecting them to not last very long. Not had a days trouble and I love them, I am going to be gutted when they will need to be replaced :(

Unless it is a toy for one of your children, don't consider it :) Well, if my DH surprised me with a camera or a new iPhone, I wouldn't be mad if he opened it and charged it for me. I would be like "yay, I can play with it right now!" That is my whole point. When I was given a kindle I was glad it had been charged :)

I have bought someone a camera and we are all going to be on holiday together at Christmas so I know the person will want to use it as I have known for a while they have wanted a nice little digital camera. I don't know how much or little it is charged so I don't want them to be disappointed if they can't use it for a few hours!!

I know someone who lives there. The cooling is free, he found out why. When he went away he turned the cooling off, of course, he came back and the ceiling and some of the furniture were covered in really bad mould, it was awful. Last week the water heater broke and flooded the place. It took them nearly a week to actually stop the water from dripping from the ceiling! The maintenance are useless and really slow, the maintenance manager really does not care at all! I really advise you not to go that building!

There is no way I would just do nothing!! I would go to RERA, explain the situation then do as they advise. Always best to seek advice yourself especially with something like this as it could have a huge effect on your life if you were wrong by doing nothing!

Buttercup - yes please! Thanks Emlsnre - we've done all of that, but it looks as if we will have to go to the rent committee as I doubt he will send us a new contract with the same terms and conditions as the last. We have changed the locks but will still need a judgment to force landlord's hand to renew at the same rate so would like to know what to expect at RC! SeaofLove, email sent.

Hi SeaofLove, Sorry didn't get back to my laptop last night and only just got on now!! Do you still want me to email?

It's a matter of luck how children turn out, don't beat yourself up if you don't live up to someone else's definition of perfect parenting. Do what works best for you and your children at the time and keep your fingers and toes crossed. No it is not " a matter of luck" how children turn up - are we saying it is all nature or luck and no nurture? It's nothing to do with " perfect parenting" - it is simply to do with basic parenting which many people here seem not to want to do. IF they want to pass this on to some maid then it is their choice and you reap what you sow. Spongemonkey I could not agree more! Why don't a lot of parents want to look after their own children here?

When I started a new job, on my first day I had to ask the office boy to put some hand wash and towels in the ladies because it was empty! He was surprised at my request and said he hadn't put any in there for over a year! There were 20 women that used that ladies!! I was totally disgusted. Give the office boy his due though, he put some in straight away for me. The uniform thing, never been able to understand that myself!!

I don't see why people can't wash their hands even if they intend to use sanitiser afterwards, especially if they touch the door and goodness knows what else before they use the said sanitiser. Surely they should use it before leaving the bathroom? Sorry but for me it is a personal bugbear, especially in the office where people are using and touching communal things like doors, the fridge, the kettle etc. Why not just wash hands immediately? Have also noticed the Filipino teeth cleaning habit - fair play! Totally agree! If I am somewhere and the staff use the same toilets and don't wash their hands I walk out and don't go back!! They might use sanitizer, but I don't know that!!

I have seen absolutely loads over the years! I don't think the OP meant anything derogatory, it was just an observation! Where as the hand washing is concerned, I have to say, I don't think when anyone walks out of the loo without washing their hands that they have wipes and/or sanitizer! Doesn't set much of an example to any young children that are around. That was pointed out to me a little while ago when a child's Auntie said to me that her niece had said to her that I was the only person to come out of the toilet and wash my hands!!

To be honest with you, I think the only problem with me, is me!!! I really need to get into the right mindset! If I am bored or fed up, I eat! If we go out for dinner it is, well we paid for it so I should eat it, instead of stopping when I am feeling satisfied!! I find that really difficult to do!! It might be worth a try though!! Can you get it here? Or do you have to order it online? Hadn't even heard of it until this thread was put up!

Really?? Well if your friend did use them and it worked for her I would try it if I were you! I am thinking stop hoping for the quick fix!!! It took a long time to put this weight on, it is going to take a long to get it off!! It is just so difficult here I find. When we are out and about it is 'shall we pop for something to eat and a couple of bevvies'? Before you know it, you have put 2 1/2 stone on and creeping up to the 3!! Having nowhere to walk either doesn't help! Maybe you should start a group, see if anyone is interested in dieting/exercising with you, have a weekly weigh-in etc... it would help if you were all on the same diet/eating plan so you can help each other with meal idea's etc... Might be worth a try!

hi, just looking for some feedback on these villas please. And how do you enter them from Dubai rather than going along Emirates road and through global village, is there another entrance from the back/Bypass road? thanks I live in Falcon City and from Emirates road is the only way we have used. It is worth it though. We love living here. The Villa we are in is great, had hardly any problems at all and the ones we have had have been minor. Lots of grass and tree's etc... Was in Mirdif City Center a couple of weeks ago and they are (apparently) in the process of building a Medi-center plus restaurants/cafes and a decent shop! What I can see though is on two of the common grounds they are building a couple of nice play area's/parks for the children.
