Thanks ladies. Boots doesn't sell high end skin care & already tried Sephora, Harvey Nichols. I'll post back here if I find it anywhere. I'm going mental without my cleanser :/ Now that I think of it, it could have been Murad that I saw. Ooops sorry for the misinformation

Hello, I just purchased insurance for myself and baby and this was an issue for me too. Basically, the insurance companies have several options ranging from standard to premium, depending on which you choose, the networks vary. For example Axa have around 7 different plans, the last 2 (and cheapest) dont offer city in their network, but if you select a higher plan, the network is different and you will find City is included. I found that if you want hospitals like city or american covered, you need a mid-level or higher plan. Having said all that, I ended up using Pacific Prime brokers and was very happy with their service. The rep asked me what hospitals and clinics I was interested in and he selected plans accordingly. HTH ETA: I ended up choosing Integra insurance, the silver premium plan and City is covered (: sorry for rambling... edited by caligurl on 07/10/2014

Hiya Caligurl, went into Prime Gourmet this morning and they only had the short ribs which I ended up getting. However they did they say they would order them from the warehouse for me and I could collect them this afternoon so worth giving them a call/visit. I would have ordered but I needed to get something first thing to stick in the slow cooker :-) They're also open on Fridays until 3pm Thanks so much for replying! Sounds like a trip to Prime Gourmet this weekend. I was going to throw some in the slow cooker as well. If you have a good recipe, do share! No problem at all. No great recipe I'm afraid, with ribs I tend to just cover them in a shop bought BBQ sauce, slow cook for 8 hours, add more sauce and finish off in the oven for 15 minutes for the sauce to go dark and sticky. Baked sweet potato fries and homemade american style cheese biscuits to mop up the juices mmmm Oh that sounds so good! Thanks for the inspiration (:

Hi, the best selection of fisher price I've found is in Toys r us/babies r us as others have mentioned. There's one in Time Square, Deira City Center and Festival City. Personally I wouldn't waste my time at outlet mall, not a lot to choose from and from what I could see there are only a few clothing stores not large baby items..The baby shop there only sells clothes.

I'm sorry to take advantage of the thread but I need to ask a question about Al Zahra antenatal Packages. Do any of you have an antenatal package? My question regards the counsaltations and what you do in each. i.e. do you get a scan every month in each visit? I will be booking an antenatal Package at Al Zahra next week and have visited to aks about this matter. They hav etold me that you do get a scan every month (included in the package) but everyone I have asked (in other hospitals) tell me that they do not get a scan every month or are getting charged extra. I could really use your knowledge, as I'm used to having a scan every month (this is the case back home) and it is scary not to!!! edited by NP on 18/02/2014 Hi NP, I purchased an antenatal package from them at 12wks, currently I'm at 31wks. The package (5,000aed) I purchased includes a variety of blood tests (such as hemoglobin, blood grouping, HIV, Rubella, etc) and urine tests. It also includes 12 doctors visits, one Glucose test, 20 week anomaly scan and 2 Ultrasound screenings. So I would say you were misinformed, the package does not cover a scan every month. I am considered high risk due to high blood pressure and other issues so the doctor monitors me closely and does an ultra sound scan at every visit. Since the package only covered 2 scans, I am now charged an additional 250aed for each. I'm sure if you feel more comfortable having a scan every visit you can ask the doctor to do it but will prob have to pay the additional costs out of pocket. best of luck...HTH edited by caligurl on 18/02/2014

My options as I see them are to send her home now (or as soon as I get a replacement) which makes for a very rushed stressful period, or I let her stay till she is 6 months, as suggested, and in that time get a replacement, and have a hand over. [b'>If she stays, then I guess we will have to fork out for the scans and other medical procedures - we looked at getting insurance for her, but most don't cover pregnancy till you have been with them for a year anyway.[/b'> We are speaking to her and her husband tonight, to discuss options. just to add my two cents, as we all know pregnancy very often doesn't go according to plan! Since our health insurance doesn't cover maternity, we pay out of pocket for all of my antenatal care. What we thought would cost 5,000dhs is now heading towards 20,000dhs and climbing. This was due to things like- unforeseen trips to emergency for bleeding, discovering I had high blood (specialists/lab tests/medications) and finding a large fibroid on my uterus. Be aware, you may think that you will be paying for a few scans and it could turn ugly fast..best of luck edited by caligurl on 17/02/2014

it's def back, hence the "back to sleep" campaign, and no pillows in the cot. The advice about choking is outdated but it did used to be given 20 years ago so your friend probably heard that from her own mum. That said, babies can roll, sleep position is probably less important than sleep environment, ie firm mattress, no pillows or puffy blankets, smoke free house and in the same room as mum. edited by kiwispiers on 05/02/2014 thank you so much, very helpful!

Hi all, a friend recently gave birth(2wks ago) and we all met up at a mutual friends house to meet the little one. Baby fell asleep in my arms so mum asked if I would put him down on the bed to sleep so I set him down on his back where they proceeded to put pillows all around him and propped him up on his side. Mum and another friend in the room told me never to place a baby on their back to sleep they must be turned on their side in case they spit up, they won't choke. I said that's strange because everything I've heard or read about SIDS indicate back sleeping is safest. I'm going to give birth soon and am confused now! Would love some additional opinions. Thnx All the Mums in my office said back too Thanks sarahlou, they looked at me as if I had gone mad when I mentioned back sleeping that I started to second guess myself!

Hi, the two stores I have bought the most from are H&M and Destination Maternity (I prefer the Mirdif branch)....I was in Mothercare Debenhams MOE yesterday and the maternity section is on sale now. Not much there at all however some of the jeans were reduced to 140aed. If anyone knows if destination maternity is participating in DSF, I would love to know! edited by caligurl on 08/01/2014

We are also team PINK! All my shopping self control that I had prepared myself with has gone completely out of the window, I can't even walk past a shop and not buy something! I am going to be in serious trouble if they have made a mistake on the scan, lol! Definitely starting to feel more real now as I am getting lots more movement, but I have an anterior placenta so it is only really at the sides of my bump that I can feel it. Can't believe I have hit the 20 week mark already, it seems to be flying by! We didn't get the best news at our 20 week scan as there is a problem with baby's kidney, which may resolve itself in utero or after birth (crossing everything that it does!), may need surgery or may mean she will only have one kidney, but there are worse things and it could have been a lot worse so I am just thankful for that. Hope everyone else's scan went well. Is anyone going to the Baby Bazaar in Dec? Was planning on popping up to Dubai to go so if any other ladies are going , might be a good time to meet up over a tea/coffee (or at least a cake!) :) Hoping all goes well with your little one and her kidneys, Bellauk. We had our scan yesterday and it is def nerve wracking waiting to hear the results. Wishing you all the best. edited by caligurl on 08/12/2013

Wow, another one for Team Pink here too! Sounds like there's going to be lots of beautiful baby girls this April (: Went for 20 week scan yesterday and all looks well accept they found a rather large fibroid on my uterus. Anyone else have any experience with fibroids? They said it shouldn't affect the baby but we need to keep an eye on it. I haven't gone crazy shopping as we were hoping to get some good deals during DSF. Does anyone know if it's worth the wait? Take care (:

I heard that some theaters won't let kids (age 10, 12, 13) in a PG 15 movie even with their parents there. I know a lot of kids that age who plan to see Catching Fire this weekend including my own! Will they be allowed in? just to update: I went to see this today at ibn batuta cinema. There were under 15s in the theater with their parents so as long as you take them I don't think it will be a problem.

Hello Ladies, Hope everyone is keeping well and have started getting some kicks or I must say butterflies. Guys have few questions pls answer them or help if u can 1: Looking for a Sri Lankan Maid can anyone help me refer to one ? [b'>2: Maternity pants where can I find them ? [/b'> 3: Anyone meeting up on weekends please let me know I was thinking maybe we shld do a picnic in safa park ? As I have been on the hunt for maternity jeans, I can say that I finally found a decent selection in a variety of sizes and cuts at Destination Maternity in Mirdiff City Centre and Marina Mall. They also have a shop in Dubai Mall but haven't been to that one yet.Their own brand of jeans start at 129aed and go up from there depending on designer. Right now there is a promotion if you buy 3 pieces, the fourth is free. They have really nice tops and dresses too! Other places I've found a small selection of maternity clothes is H&M, Max, Mothercare, mamas & papas. HTH (: edited by caligurl on 17/11/2013

Sounds great! I was looking in MOE, found a few things in H&M but none of them were my size :( my biggish bottom and thights and short legs are to blame for this hahaha To be honest, i was feeling great up to last week, i mean, i didnt really have any morning sickness apart from feeling tired all the time. However, my GynOb decided to change my vitamins and as soon i started taking them, i was sick! every single morning! until i relised it must have been the new vitamins. Started taking the old ones today, and feel great again and so glad it is over! :) It just shows you that no all vitamins suit everybody, hey!? Has anybody started craving anything yet? I just love grated carrots with lemon juice and salt. hmmm...... hahaha LOL, I have the exact same problem with H&M maternity jeans! They are all slim leg and look terrible on me not to mention they are really long! If anyone finds any boot cut maternity jeans anywhere please let me know (: I heard there is a maternity store in Marina Mall, will prob check out this weekend. Oddly enough I haven't had any odd cravings, but I can't stand to look at chocolate or coffee and I used to love both..(: take care

There's a vintage store in Jumeirah called Bambah. The owner is really friendly and she may be able to steer you in the right direction. I went in with a friend of mine who bought a vintage dress from her that needed altering and she was able to recommend someone so I'm sure she can suggest a cleaner as well.

Hi ladies! Its very quiet in here these days, we should be a little more active and offer support to one another. Anyways, how are you all feeling? Has anybody felt the little one moving yet? I bought my first maternity clothes the other day' weird but nice feeling lol has anybody found any nice maternity clothes yet? If so, where? Hope to hear from you all. :) Hi cutepaisa7, I have also started looking for maternity clothes. Have found a few pieces on clearance at H&M in Ibn Batuta. They are legging and more lounging pants for only 20-30 dhs. I found the H&M in MOE has a bigger selection though. Maybe someone can recommend a few other places? I'm 17 wks now and doc thinks I'm having a girl but wasnt 100% sure so we will prob find out in 3 weeks when I do my anomaly scan. I haven't felt the baby move, not sure what it's supposed to feel like, lol. best of luck

There's a clinic in TECOM just a few doors down from Park n Shop. I think it's called Al Rafa Polyclinic by Aster. I haven't been so can't comment on quality of care. If you are considering Saudi German Hospital then I say Al Zahra hospital might be a better choice. I've seen a few docs there and have no complaints.

Just back from BBW @ MOE. Bought several large candles for 22aed each, others for 45. The smaller candles were 10 and up. A few of the shower gel scents were 10aed, lotions around 30. Hand Soaps were 20. Wallflowers varied in price some as low as 6 dirhams. I'll check back on a Friday as they often put everything 75% off...Happy shopping Won't be happy if they reduce the 22 dhs one just 10 of each hehe This happened to me in the January sale. I bought loads of stuff on a Wednesday, happened to stroll back in on a Saturday and the assistant said 'oh you missed out yesterday, we marked everything 75%off!' so the prices go up and down during the sale and they bring out more stock too. Ibn Batutta was really disappointing today, nothing like MOE selection.
