I think that lower, thicker heels are coming back in style. Saw some Italian ones, very bright colors, can't remember the brand, but kind of expensive.

Hi, I don't think you are doing anything wrong. It is hard when you have worked all your life, not having much time to develop any hobbies, to suddenly stop and have lots and lots of time on your hands. Unless you absolutely need the money, try to find things to do that you enjoy that aren't work.

Had to Google it: Whale tail is the Y-shaped waistband of a thong or g-string when visible above the waistline of low-rise jeans, shorts, or a skirt that resembles a whale's tail. Intentionally or unintentionally, a whale tail is exposed above the trousers mostly when sitting or bending, or even while standing... :\:

Yes, it will and pick up lint too. The best thing to do is to wash it by hand and line dry.

Some people have been so brainwashed into believing certain stereotypes that they can't see anything else. Also keep in mind that the only way some people can feel good about themselves is to put others down. That woman obviously has an inferiority complex; don't waste any more time with the likes of her. The UAE is a lot safer than most places and there are women in the UAE military that are fighter pilots.

Right, she may be doing it intentionally, however, you can only deal with the objective facts and cannot second guess what her intentions are. On the other hand you are a nice person who wants to help. Knowing that this type of appearance may be perceived as inappropriate in public, and giving her the benefit of the doubt, you can assume she is dressed this way unintentionally. So if you really want to help, you would tell her and risk making her upset. On the other hand, there is not much she can do about it right there, so why tell her?

Interesting responses ladies thanks:) I think it's not easy to determine whether so speak up of back off lol! The rule of thumb I have been taught is to let the person know if there is something that can be done on the spot to remedy it. For example, the unbuttoned buttons, or a piece of toilet paper stuck under one's shoe, or the skirt tucked into knickers scenario. If it is something that can't be remedied on the spot, like a ladder in someone's stockings, then you keep your mouth shut.

Find something they are really good at and enjoy, and stay true to any talent they have. There is nothing more tragic than to have a profession, a job, a trade, etc. that was imposed by a parent, where the child fails just to prove the parent wrong.

I need to get an additional laptop and would like to find one that is a good brand, but not expensive. I've seen tons of laptops at Carrefour and Lulu for under 2000 AED. Are they any good? I am not interested in a used one.

ah, but probably not A-? If so there is someone else on EW who is too. Can't remember now. Probably left by now. :( Yes, A Negative is possible. As Feefmick explained, if one parent is A and the other O the child must be either A or O. And if one parent is positive and the other negative the child will be either positive or negative. So it can be O positive or O negative or A positive or A negative.

The positive or negative has to do with the Rh factor. If you have it, you're positive and if you don't, you are negative. Two people who have it can produce an offspring that does't have it. It doesn't work the other way. If two people don't have it, the baby won't have it either. It is so confusing, so If the mother is O RH negative and the father is A positive, they still cannot produce a B pos baby?? or can they. Not a B type, but the Rh can be either positive or negative. They can produce a baby that is A positive or A negative or O positive or O negative; they cannot produce a baby that is B type. Consider the ABO type and the Rh factor separately. See also Gummy's explanation below on ABO blood types. edited by Catherine Abigail on 26/02/2013

I've never heard of garlic being harmful. In fact, it is supposed to be good for you and the baby. Also, I've heard when you have cravings it is because there is something in the food you crave that you need, like magnesium in chocolate.

CMM, you can't be serious! Do you mean you would never go hiking, never take long flights, never venture far from your home? Aren't your children going to believe (if they don't already) that bodily functions are somehow unnatural?

Things like that often happen after children are born, everyone is exhausted. People are also stressed out from work, etc. Not that it is much of a consolation, but look at it this way: at least he is in the garden with the dog and not out with someone else. I've read that it is a good idea to set aside some time at regular intervals just for the two of you, a nice dinner, a walk, a movie, whatever you both like to do.

I agree with AmyAus. She'll have to learn how to deal with this kind of situations because they will happen again and agian. The most you can do is be there if she wants to talk for moral support. Not much else you can do, unfortunately.

Go with your gut feeling I say. In the summer - every couple of hours; in the winter once a day should be enough. I have also heard that if you shower often you should just wash with soap the essentials and use plenty of plain water on your arms, legs, back as too much soap could make the skin dry and itchy.

It is not rude at all! If they act offended and this bothers you, say you are in a hurry, or going to the gym, or swimming, or just don't have the cash on you. I say "not today, thank you" and that's it. I do get a blow dry after a hair cut because I want to make sure the style comes out the way I want it. Occasionally, when I'm tired and don't feel like blow drying my own hair, I get it after a coloring, but not every time. Besides, I do a much better job myself.

That's a good point... Guess at some point I'll have to check with the Labor Ministry directly... Thanks!! Deckname, I *think* you can work from home for a company abroad as long as you are having no dealings in the UAE or with any UAE companies/no money changing hands here etc. If it was all happening outside of the UAE with regards to work/money etc then wouldn't he really just be a house husband in terms of UAE law? so no need for NOCs etc? If nobody on EW knows then you could check with ministry of labour directly! Did you find out? Does anyone know if this is so?

Of course, it is ok. My wallet and bag criteria are such that I never end up with a matching set, but it depends on your own taste. Some people like everything to match, others prefer the eclectic look.

I have been able to grow basil successfully for just under a year in the same place outside, sunny in the morning and shady in the afternoon. It survived and thrived in the summer. Water every day in the summer, every other day in winter. Water only in the evening and spray leaves with water when you do so, the plant dries by morning so the leaves don't get burned by the sun. Pinch the tops often so the plant branches out.

Michelle, what your maid is doing (working part-time for someone else) is illegal in the UAE and you as the sponsor could get fined to the tune of 100,000 AED! You need to cancel her visa and send her home immediately. I don't have personal experience, but this forum provides a lot of useful information on the subject. Search "maid visa cancel" and you will get a number of old threads that can be useful to you. Good luck.
