i would say Nemo at Glow is the best. I have been to Nemo and Nikki. I think each time I had a partial it was in the 250-300 range + haircut and blow-dry to the make the total about 500-550

We have some money to transfer from our account here to our UK account and I wanted to get some input on the best way to do it. We have not been doing for the past year so it is a fair amount. I used the 'Search' option and I saw women posting to use Western Union ?!?!?! I don't think that is the best option so I am hoping that if no one knows...maybe someone has a DH that is knowledgeable on such topics ;) I've always used XE Trade as I think they have the most favourable rates transferring USD-GBP but unfortunately they told me they are not allowed to 'touch' money in Qatar. I'm thinking that the best thing to do is just use Commercial Bank, where the money is now - but thought I would post in case anyone has any better information. I would also like to hear opinions on the exchange rate and the value of the GBP. Obviously it is best for us if the GBP drops and then we will get more for our QAR. I have researched the charts but I have no idea on understanding predictions and what is going on the in the world today. (sorry, I'm American LOL) I have seen US Dollar accounts in the UK by where we could transfer the money into a USD account in the UK and let it sit there until we got the best rate. What do ya think? If you go to West Bay Medical Clinic (it is a govt one) it is across the street from Al Meera Grocery store. If you have an RP you can get a medical card there at the same time. There is also a govt clinic by Madinat Khalifa where the DL place is. I have read before on EW that you can go to the clinic in WB without a medical card but I think this is highly unlikely as once I went and they couldn't find my file - even though I HAD a medical card - and they were completely confused and I had to practically beg to see the DR. They are open from 8-1 and 4- late?? not sure but at least 8pm closed weekends If you don't have a medical card, I think you have to go to one of the clinics not listed on the hamad www so there are plenty...like Doha Clinic, El Emadi by landmark, etc.

BRAS--- I am a Victoria's Secret ONLY!!! I have been wearing the Body By Victoria Demi for years and years and years!!! I have actually gone on all day missions trying every other bra in an American mall just to save $$ with no luck. Even when I live in the UK I still order them from the USA. Now, when people say they're 'going to America What do you want' --- I say a BRA!! Not to mention that La Senza do not even carry a 38dd here but I had some shipped recently through aramax and it was really cheap as they are lightweight - I'm sure I used a Qatari credit card (but might have been British).

hmmm well since I am no longer working, DH's alarm goes off at 4:30 and then the dog jumps in bed and lays on his side. My alarm goes off at 4:50 for when he is out of the shower and I make him a cup of tea and some toast or something. Then it's back to bed for me!

If you were considering BK then how about Dairy Queen by Ramada. They have one of those things with all the balls in it that the toddlers can go in...it's not "Chuck E Cheese" (American place) but... Don't they do parties at Jungle Zone?? Again, haven't been anywhere near the place but sounds fun for kiddies. I think 3 is too young for ceramics. I went to the QPWN thing there and it wasn't like a 'run around and be 3' type of place. I wonder if the Movenpick would rent out the playroom that they use for brunches for a kiddie party?? <em>edited by ccdoha on 30/11/2011</em>

Before we moved here my husband never owned anything made by M&S he is more of a CK, RLP or Kenneth COle type of a guy...since being here,he still wears a shirt and tie everyday but he has been wearing M&S business shirts to work everyday - mostly because he gets "dusty" walking between buildings all day at work and also because he is paranoid to send his good shirts to the cleaners for pressing here! When we went back to the UK we bought the same M&S shirts which are ridiculously cheap, can be washed in the machine and are very easy to iron.

I think that Debenhams has quite a bit of larger stuff now however I am a 38dd but I have small shoulders so I don't usually find anything that fits in the larger section clothes - too big around the arms/neck. I think that when you're top heavy you have to stay away from anything too close too the neck especially turtle necks...saw that on Trinny & Susannah . "What not to wear" Uk version. I find that a wrap style dress with a low neck line - sort of like the white dress Marilyn Monroe wore (at least the top half) is the most flattering.

I bought 2 pairs of clarks from 51 east in City centre and they did the same thing to me - I tried them in 2 sizes and told them which ones I wanted and then took them to the register, never checking the sizes again until after I wore them a few times and realised they sent me home with the wrong size for one pair!!!!!!! And now that I am ranting about shoes...dh bought a pair from Hush puppies in CC and he wore them and we realised they were 2 different colours :) funny really!!

I only use OPI. They sell it outside of C4 in Villagio and they also seem to carry a small selection in the chemist/pharmacy around town. Also at Glow Salwa Road :)

OK how about a little more realistic and buy as much as you will eat once so that everyone can get a 'piece of the piggy' If someone can report the status it would be much appreciated...as in is there anything left, when is the next shipment, it's a long way from WB to QDC when I'd be happy with one pack of rashers for DH!

OMG!! If it is coming to cargo here - the grief has only just begun!!!!! We shipped something at the airport with the Excess Baggage company and WHAT A FREAKIN' NIGHTMARE! We had to go to an office to pick up a piece of paper and they only accepted cash. Then we had to go to the QA Cargo and wait around and get fleeced out of more money to finally see our box. Yes, just get used to it now, this is how things are at first when you don't know what you're doing. You will get to the stage the thou look back and laugh...and cry, and then laugh again :) (and then jump up and down for joy when you know you are leaving) ;)

Last year I started working for a company here before I got my visa while I was on a temp visa and I wound up leaving and going back to the UK and then back here in on a family visa. The school I worked for did not indicate to me that this was a problem and indicated that I should just show them my RP when I got it. I am now working as a consultant. The Qatari company has not asked to see any visa, passport, etc. but it was mentioned that if I needed a business visa they would give me on, as in, I suppose they feel that since I have said I am here on a family visa, they are OK with that. I can't imagine that every time we have a consultant come in for a few weeks they get a business visa but not sure...

Rachel - I did too, I went from super blonde highlights to dark brown in May due to lack of decent colour vs. cost here in Doha. I went Dark professionally and then I have been keeping it up myself which has been going fine until...I got a little crazy and chose like a smidgen of brown lighter (actually redder - Mahogany) and I've been a bit of a mess for a few weeks now...not really so much to strangers but I can tell...it's like the new colour had a higher developer level (???) and lifted all the brown I have been doing since may right out and deposited only the mahogany (that's my theory) sooooooo...I could use a professional colour right about now! NOW - I can say that I just got a fab cut from ROGER!! TY TY TY GINAM! He charged me 380 for cut and blow dry but I don't care because when i say my hair is difficult, I mean it. I am a cut, then blow dry, then cut a bunch more type of hair...He did a really good job and all together I was there 1.5 hours I am going to wait a couple of weeks to think about what to do with my colour...

Ok so just to clarify, I went there and they wanted 480 to colour my hair one colour and 300 to touch up my roots which are about 1/4 inch. :(. Oh well just a cut, I'll take my chances with the colour in a bottle if not I'll go see nemo at glow to colour in about 1/2 inch :)

If you don't find a taker, I would say offer to a school, especially a preschool, for cutting projects, i.e. collages, word finds, art projects, etc. Finding appropriate magazines for little ones to browse is not easy and I would imagine that the Oprah magazines are conservative enough even for here.

Depends where you live but while you're waiting you could go to Doha British Montessori which i know some people that are happy there or IMHO worst case scenario would be Newton British. I just recommend supplementing at home with the latter so your child doesn't fall behind. In all honesty, I would home school those ages before going with Newton British on the d-ring but Ive heard ok things about west bay lagoon and the one near villagio ;-) Of course, I mean while you are waiting on the list at the other schools that have already been mentioned. <em>edited by ccdoha on 10/11/2011</em>

Picklz - my friend is leaving in dec and she has had her maid for 3 years and highly recommends her. She would probably consider letting her go early since her dh has already finished his contract and is home full time and ds is 13 so can look after himself somewhat. My friend pays her well, 2000 qar / mth (maybe more now) but I'm sure the woman will be negotiable. The Sheraton has a dance class 2 nights a week. There used to be a group of dancers at the Latino place at the Sheraton but something happened and they haven't been there maybe someone knows where they went to and the name of the guy that was the instructor

Ok. At first I just said colour and cut and the guy was like, ok no blow dry?!? How can you colour without a blowdry? Then I thought best to ask how much and he was struggling for an answer, then he put a woman on and she said for a full head colourr 480, I questioned it several times but...ok I'll just go over there now... I'm soooooooo desperate!

It's hard to picture the stuff in homes r us because the shop and the displays are so 'busy' and poorly decorated. Im sure once you get it home it will be better I've been to sealy and the other expensive mattress shop on salwa and it's way too expensive for the guest room :(

I 100% agree with lulu. I just tried to make an appt with roger at the Sheraton and after the first person could not adequately book my appt or answer my questions a woman got on the phone. She advised that colour was 480 qrs. ?!?!?!? I would pay that for highlights/foils but 480 to just colour my hair one solid colour?!?!? Needless to say I didn't book! I saw it at landmark c4 tonight. It is with the other hot sauces across from the cooking oils. I didn't know the green one was mild though I thought it was just with tomatillo or something. I didn't look to make sure it was mild I only read that part here now but it was definitely the green one ;)
