nope not counted as luggage as long as you have an infant/toddler traveling, regardless of if they're a lap child or ticketed.

The bases and up the side of my pots and pans will often go blackish also - I find the best way to get rid of it is the old fashioned way - steel wool (the sort that rusts not the stainless steel type) and Jiff or even better old fashioned powdered Ajax (which I haven't seen here so I use the white Jiff liquid) and loads of elbow grease. I've gotten ajax from safestway on szr sorry, i can't help lilypad! :( Thanks. That is the Korean market on SZR, isn't it?? yep, it's the supermarket in that same building. next to mazaya center.

Carter's, gap, and old navy are long-lasting and stay true to form/color even after many washings and wears. Gap was just having a sale where everything, including sale/clearance was 35% off. My order was sent a few days ago, should be here by S&S soon. :)

I love Sumo Sushi. It's the best value. The Umami rolls can be cut into 6 or 8 pieces and even when they're 8, they're a huge size. I found that Bentoya's are a bit on the small side and they're a little more expensive. I haven't gotten Sumo Sushi delivered but their minimum, I believe, is 200 and they always say to give them 2 hours for delivery, so "if you want to eat at 8, order at 6". lol

I have a few black leather journals that I wanted to get engraved, mainly so I can tell them apart, and for keepsake purposes. I have one for special dates and notes related to my marriage and one for each of my kids. So I wanted to get maybe one or two words/names with the date on them, nothing extravagant but substational enough for my needs. Does anyone know where this can be done?

I have oily skin and started using Bare Escentuals about 10 years ago. At that time, I had a lot of breakouts and scarring. BE hid all the spots and stayed on all day. Soon after, I stopped breaking out and I didn't change anything except started using the mineral makeup. I'm a believer in it. The starter kit is enough to get you going, the brushes are amazing as well!

Going to a Mandi restaurant for lunch in AD but wanted to stay thru the evening as my mom is visiting from out of town. What is there to do in the evening with two little ones as well? Any fun, cheap, or free places to hang out for a couple of hours?

Chi2dxb I can completely relate about the smell of the eggs here, it's awful! I would say I have tried most eggs which are available here, organic/free range/local/imported...they all leave a very "eggy" odour on the crockery and cutlery. I find it's not possible to rinse the "eggy" crockery and cutlery and leave in dish washer, I literally have to soak and wash them immediately. I've been here for about 17 years and it's only in recent years that this "eggy" odour has come about...thought it was just me and was actually quite relieved to see your post. Maybe our sense of smell is a little more wired up than others. Lol do you find yourself holding up plates and smelling them after washing? I always giggle and think if someone saw me, they'd wonder what I was doing

thanks for all your suggestions. will try out the grocery store and greenheart ones. jeano, i've had to soak the plates in vinegar and then sprinkle baking soda on top and i let it sit for a while and then wash either by hand or load in dishwasher. recently, i started rinsing them with highly diluted ammonia, that did the trick right away. that whole process has become so tedious that i've started using disposable items just for eggs. it's cheapest to mix the eggs in a small plastic cup with a spoon and then straight into the frying pan. and for eating...disposable plates. i hate the idea of creating so much waste, but the time and resources i'm putting in to wash the "eggy plates" is too much too! but even with the disposable stuff, the smell of the cooked egg is blechh!

so glad to hear there were no complications and that the ambulance arrived just in time. i'm sorry about your experience with city hospital. it could be just on the time or chance that they were slow, i had both my deliveries there and the nursing staff was always at my beck and call.

The mellow yellow cronut is not what a cronut is supposed to be. It's supposed to be flaky like a croissant but this one was more doughy and smushy. The flavors were on point though!

With baby #1, DS, I had a bassinet, changing table and storage all in one. I kept the bassinet next to my bed and he slept every 2 hours for 2 hours, he was born on a strict routine. lol, We were traveling and in transition until he was 5 months old. By 8 months he was sleeping through the night, without paci. At that time, I moved him into our maids room where he would sleep 12 hours. With baby #2, DD, as normal and relaxing as DS was, she was the complete opposite. Super bad colic, not sleeping, crying through the night. The first 4 months of her life are a complete haze to me as I was completely sleep deprived. Up with her at night and up with DS during the day. Suffice it to say, she is on no schedule and I have no desire to put her on one because she's so finicky, as soon as I lay her down in the crib or playpen she grabs on for dear life. She refuses to sleep anywhere except my bed. I've tried everything. So since there's no hope for her moving out, I've accepted it and I'm sorta starting to like it. Every night when we would put DS down, he's now 2 YO, I felt kinda bad that he was going in this big, dark room all alone and DD was sleeping with me, so call me crazy but I moved his crib into my room. He's sleep trained and she's happy as a clam on my bed so, they both sleep through each others antics and don't bother each other. I got rails up for the beds and put these huge throw cushions on the floor...and DH sleeps in the guest room, so no chance of any baby getting hurt. I love hearing DS go through the list of words that he knows every night that he repeats to himself and I love hearing that list getting longer and longer. I figured...since we're all going to sleep at odd times and waking up at the same time, we might as well do it together. I'm so thankful that I don't have to work right now so I can truly enjoy this time. And now the maids room is one big play/toy room! <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 26/08/2013</em>

I had her for both of my deliveries. She's smart and knows what she's doing. And I agree with Sami, embarrassing as it is to think about now but as she was doing my stitches the nurses and other drs were commenting on what a good job she was doing.

I would highly recommend these petunia pickle bottom ones: http://www.petunia.com/bags these are stylish, have plenty of storage options, are super spacious and have a large enough strap to go around the stroller handle. or the jjcole ones: http://jjcolecollections.com/diaper-bag these are also very cute and versatile, some may or may not have the large straps, but other than that theyre also super functional.

Ill give you my two perspectives; as a parent and a teacher. As a teacher, I do not expect anything from any family. A simple thank you is more than money can buy. If a parent or family gives something, I appreciate it, no doubt, but it's not something that's necessary or will make me favor your child more. That said, in my previous school although I do not celebrate Xmas, I would get gifts from families who do. The school and parents would always do a big to-do for teacher appreciation week. As for the end of the year, some children would bring stuff and others wouldn't. So it's totally up to you. As a parent, I always do a little something special every Eid, either in my classroom or for the teachers. We would always contribute for the teacher appreciation week festivities and for the end of the year, maybe just a gift card with a candy box, usually $20 to Target. <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 21/08/2013</em>

Anyone know of any deals that have water park tickets with the hotel package? I was thinking of Abu Dhabi hotels with yas waterworld. I am not keen on the RAK water park but if its with the hotel deal, it'll be ok. We'll have a 1 and 2 year old with and the grandparents. Both ends of the spectrum. :/

Are sandwich cutters specific in doing something that regular cookie cutters don't do? In hindsight I'm thinking they would seal the edges, no? I'm no help, sorry. I do have a big box of cookie cutters if you'd like. :)

In addition to the salt and rinse aid, I put in a splash of clorox bleach. It gets rid of any lingering smell and all dishes come out sparkling clean, even on the short 30 min cycle. Mind you, I hate using bleach and don't use it anywhere else but in the dishwasher its just magic. :)

It started with pinterest a couple of years ago with party decor with ties and moustaches. Since then I've also seen them everywhere. I only remember this because when my son was born two years ago we had a "little old man" bash complete with bowties and moustaches, a la " UP" (the movie)

Before getting married, I was working and always had my own cash to spend how I pleased. After getting married, I wasn't working for a few months and hubby always gave me money to do with what I pleased. Granted, it was probably a couple of hundred dirham but I'm not a big shopper anyway and it's the thought that counts, right? When I started working, I had my own account and my salary went into there and it was not hubby's to touch, according to him and Islam :). By that time though, we had/and have an online diary set up of the salary and every month when he pays the bills, he enters the amount he paid, what's left of the salary after that and what's gone into savings. I would usually contribute for my cell phone and grocery, etc but he would only take a portion of it. For the last two years, I haven't been working but since my salary was mostly savings, I use my card if I need anything. From the beginning though, we have had a card that we do grocery on that we each have and we each have another card that we use for everything else. I know how you feel when you say you feel guilty for asking for money if you need it. Whenever he asks me if i need any money, a little part of me inside wants to say "Ugh. no I don't need your money, I am capable of earning it myself!" but I don't "ask" for "designer or semi-designer labels" but he knows and I know, that if I did want anything, i'd just use the "other" card! Everything is an open book and I have cards for all the accounts and of course if there was an emergency or something i'd be able to get what I need either with the card or an atm. If he tells me to go buy a LV purse or something, I end up saying, just put me on a plane back home for a couple of months instead or I take that money and put it into my savings. Which will no doubt come in handy for the kids futures, god-willing. At the end of the day, everyones situations and personalities are different, but you both need to come together as everyone has stated and come up with some sort of agreement and budget for your "income". Allowing him to see that you may be only spending a fraction of it every month or saving it to get something nice will give you the benefit of his doubt and he'll realize that you're not out to bankrupt him!

It needs to be a joint effort...just like it was when you and HIM made them! ;) We are late sleepers and late risers (the kids and I) ever since lo2 came along. So in the evenings once dinner stuff is cleaned up(hubby does it, voluntarily), and after he's back from the night prayers, he doesn't let me go near the kids for an hour. He tells me to go lock myself in my room and watch a movie or something. Lol. I'm the crazy one who wants to sit with them sometimes! Then on the weekends, we usually go grocery shopping or a mall trip but if I want/need to go alone, he'll stay with the kids or if I have any errands in or appointments to keep, same thing. He def knows that he has to put in an effort or I'll go crazy so he's always 2 steps ahead. Lo1 was sleeping 12 hours straight from 8 months on but lo2 hasn't sleep thru the night yet. She's a hungry monkey. But it's all part of the job. I don't mind it cuz I don't work (outside the home) and hubby is always there to help (or do what I say). We don't have a maid but he encourages me to call the agency maids whenever I need a second hand but most of the time, I get stuff done so no need. edited by Chi2dxb on 19/08/2013 <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 19/08/2013</em>

I've heard that its not allowed unless you get some sort of written permission from a local. I have heard of a couple of people doing it though primarily to have their children learn Arabic. And they've agreed that it was the best way. It was difficult for the parents to keep up tho so they had friends, neighbors, and coworkers help them out.

Ah yeah prob safer to get it done by an electrician. I would go to satwa and look around before you take it out of your car. I'm sure you'll find someone. And it'll def be cheaper than the service groups. They take 200 just to look at it and then whatever parts to fix it is extra.
