Is it just the plug part that's ruined? Most likely the fuse is ..fused. You can buy new plugs for 4/5 aed from any carrefour, union etc...and replace it. I just changed mine last week.

I was trying to get some information on a name change and was told from the main Dubai courts number to contact the shariah court. The number they gave me was 3030595 and there is no answer. I've tried at all hours and times but nothing. Does anyone have any information or is trying to speak to them a lost cause? Will I just have to make the trip(s) down there?

We have a lunch to go to tomorrow so I'm going to start from Saturday inshaAllah. :) eid mubarak everyone. It's hard being away from family and friends but its nice to have this little community to share our experiences/emotions with.

Its called Hani mobile. If you're standing at the mosque on the main satwa street looking at the shops, you'll see a fabric store called Nupur. It's to the right of there somewhere. I think they quote prices depending on how much they think they can rip you off. I've known this guy for a long time so I think he gave me a good deal but you really shouldn't pay more than 250. Shop around there's a lot of places close to each other. edited by Chi2dxb on 08/08/2013

Yes. Its not that the month of Ramadan only has 28 days. Every month has 29 or 30. But they are saying they made a mistake when they started and they should have started a day earlier when ISNA declared it in North America. So to make up the one day that they missed they will pay the kaffara for the Saudis but for the rest of the people living in countries who (blindly) follow Saudi, they will have to make their "missed" 29th one up after eid. This has happened a few years back as well the Saudi declared the beginning of Ramadan late and then did eid with the rest of the world having to make their missed one up later or by paying the kaffara. edited by Chi2dxb on 06/08/2013

I've used them and recommended them to others and we were all pleased with their quick, efficient service. I saw one cockroach 3 years ago and called them after a recommendation on ew, they came and put these dots everywhere. Didn't have to leave or anything. Took about 15 minutes cost about 200 aed and haven't seen one bug since then!

If anyone's interested. I was at MCC body shop today and their range of wise woman products were all bogof. My aunt uses the night moisturizer and eye cream religiously and swears by them and at 200 and 150 aed a jar, respectively, bogof is a really good deal.

Most likely this year's Ramadan will have 29 days, not 30. For the last two years, Ramadan was 30 days and I don't think it's ever happened that there were 3 consecutive years of 30 days.

I do the missed fasts right after eid and pray that I get the reward for doing the Shawwal ones too. But you do have all year to make them up, it just seems easier to do it right away cuz you're already used to it. On another note, I too am sad that it's gone by so fast.

I had number two when number 1 15 months. I wouldn't change anything about it. I knew I wanted more kids and I figured I'm already not sleeping at night, already doing the whole stroller/car seat thing, already changing diapers so might as well be doing 2 instead of 1. At times, it's crazy but its fun crazy Lol or maybe I'm the one that's crazy now. I knew this lady who had a kid Once one was off to kindergarten (age 5) and she had 3 kids. I don't think I could be doing the same thing for 15 years! Now the question for me is when to have number 3...cuz right now I am poooed! edited by Chi2dxb on 31/07/2013 edited by Chi2dxb on 31/07/2013

I started working here after being here on my husband's visa for a few months so they hired me as a local hire. I have my degree in elementary education with state certification. I was prob 23/24 around then and started with substituting in the spring and then got my classroom the following fall. I also had about 3+ years of experience during and after getting my degree in the states. A lot of teachers were working without being certified in their home state, just with their degree but they were getting paid less than those who were certified. edited by Chi2dxb on 31/07/2013

I always wash my pillows in the machine! If not 2 at a time then just 1. I feel like those are dirtier than sheets.I have an LG and I do the 30 minute quick wash and then put them in the sun on a stool or chair to dry completely. edited by Chi2dxb on 29/07/2013 Do they go lumpy? What temperature would you recommend? No. They get fluffed out which i like. After using them they tend to get flat. Temperature, whatever the default setting is. 40? Just regular temp. Do you have washing soda or oxy clean? I put a scoop of either along with the detergent.

The prayer time for when the fasting endS is roughly around 7:10 pm. This is what they need to pray after they open their fast. Then the Isha (night prayers is 1.5 hours after that) is at 8:40. Some mosques start 10 minutes after and some 20 minutes after. After the Isha is when the Taraweeh starts which usually takes 45 minutes to an hour in most places. Some people usually have their Iftar and dinner together (which is usually just 1 or 2 things for dinner, more emphasis on the Iftar food) at once before Isha, so from 7:15-8:45 and some people have a large iftar meal, have some tea, then go for Isha/Taraweeh and then come back around 10:35 and have dinner.

Genie, I'm afraid I was just saying to my husband that when something like this happens, and to pilgrims, no less, I cannot believe in a good, just and kind God. Just evil. There is no sense in heaven or on earth for this. I've been on that train too, such a tragedy. My heart goes out to the families :/ On a side note, simples, read this article: http://www.suhaibwebb.com/islam-studies/why-does-god-allow-bad-things-to-happen-answered-by-imam-mustafa-umar/ "The appreciation of ease and comfort could only exist and be appreciated if the feelings of hardship also existed and were known or experienced. In Chinese Philosophy, the concept of yin and yang is employed to explain this phenomenon. Each part is necessary to understand the unity of the whole. They are in equilibrium: if one disappears, the other must disappear as well, leaving emptiness."

I gave my son his when he was born and took it away when he started sleeping through the night at 8 months and he didn't look for it once. My daughter who was colicky for the first 4 months and is now 8 months has it but uses it randomly. I think once she starts drinking cows milk at a year I'll take it away if not sooner.

Evenflo is good. There's also a brand called cosco that is good. Its not a reclining one but honestly I haven't used the recline on the rear facing with my son. My sister has used cosco for 3 of her kids and they've been great! That might be a little more economical.

i agree with meagle, moses baskets are one of those things you'd like to get because they're so picturesque, but practically, they're useless. they are really small and uncomfortable and cannot be replaced with anything else so you might as well get something that you can use for the long run. i also used a pack and play for both my kids, It's this one: http://www.toysrus.com/buy/babies-r-us-exclusives/play-yards/s1-by-safety-1st-satellite-premier-play-yard-pegasus-py124adu-10962742 I used the bassinet portion until they started to roll over and then dropped it down after that. my son used it until his little sister came along and i got him a crib, but he was sleep trained in there at 8 months in his own room, it's very spacious and safe. and my daughter started turning over and standing up at 5-6 months so the bassinet is already down and it's where she sleeps every night! this one is also perfect for it's storage space on the side. i also loved the changing table on here because it was higher than others and the last thing you want to be doing after having a baby is bending over all the time to change diapers! sorry kelly, don't mean to sound harsh, just wanted to help you out because from what i've experienced and what i've seen a lot of people experience, the baskets aren't very useful. edited by Chi2dxb on 24/07/2013

rotetho, you are too kind. if i hadn't already purchased some, i would've totally gone for your offer. thank you. btw, the TJs one is made in the Netherlands and the PQ is made in Belgium. ginnee, it's a spread, same consistency as peanut or soy nut butter, but the taste is of the speculoos cookie which is a cinnamon cookie. its delicious on some cripsy toast. the first time i had this cookie was on a plane a longgg time ago, by the biskoff brand. they also make a spread, same thing.

I got it from PQ in MCC. The lady had no idea what I was talking about. She kept showing me the other jars of dark and white chocolate. I just kept saying speculoos, cookie, cinnamon cookie, spread...anything and it finally hit her and she said she has a case in the back. It was 45 aed for a glass jar like the other dark and white chocolate ones. Has anyone successfully given this to someone who has nut allergies?

It will go away but then the 2nd trimester back pain and the 3rd trimester heartburn will start. Don't mean to frighten you but there's so many different things that happen in different ways to different mommies but they do all subside eventually. And then once the pregnancy is over the new born sleep deprivation begins. :) Please don't take this the wrong way, just trying to make you smile! edited by Chi2dxb on 23/07/2013
