I also use Fairy in my homemade cleaners but the blue liquid Dawn is available at Safestway, if you're interested in the "real thing".

Azur spa is my go to for at home salon services. And no, I don't work there! I've also heard good things about feel pink. There's a place in jumeirah town center that specializes in girls party's with salon services. I think its called hello kitty? I know their information is on the mall's website and they should have a Facebook page.

Ok, my whole post got wiped out. I'm starting over... I've been going to Orlando every year since I was born as my mom's siblings live there. I know Orlando/Kissimmee like the back of my hand....or even better than that! haha Your boys will have more fun at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, which is more roller coast, action packed. I wouldn't recommend Epcot, they'd def get bored there. You can take airboat tours of the crocodile filled swamps/lagoons. That's more thrilling than the JAWS ride ;) Ripley's Believe It or Not museum: http://www.ripleys.com/orlando/ Medieval Times: http://www.medievaltimes.com/ And don't forget to take a couple of hours out for a round of mini golf in the evening! (before or after dinner, when it's a bit cooler out) I also LOVE Disney Quest, the arcade games and video games are a nice change, especially in the A/C, from all the outdoor happenings. I think your boys will have fun doing the things above more than the Disney World theme parks. Wherever you go, make sure to take really good walking shoes and give everyone their own water bottle filled with ICE! :) edited by Chi2dxb on 18/05/2013 <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 18/05/2013</em>

I went to sedar and saw these really nice dark stained wood blinds and was quoted 500 aed for the size that I needed and I need two, so 1000 aed was a lot for my budget. I went to dragon mart and found the exact same thing I was looking for and I got 2 sets of the dark stained wooden blinds for 400 aed. And the shop guy said they supply for sedar! I don't know how accurate that is, but I wouldn't be surprised. <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 18/05/2013</em>

To teach in schools, you'll just need your degrees all attested. I'm not sure how the UK system works but in the US, high school is through grade 12 and for that you just need a bachelors in elementary education with a teaching certificate. For teaching what we call college or university you need a masters degree and your teaching certificate. Also, unless you have opened your own licensed company, I'm pretty sure its illegal to tutor, even though people and teachers do do it.

I don't personally live there but I have family there. We go there quite often so I'll try to help you with your questions. Overall, the houses are good and the area is quiet. 1. The dewa bill for basically an empty house during the day and only using what you need at night, its around 600 aed and there's an association fee that's every month that's around 550 or 600 so on average 1200-1300. 2. It's pretty safe. There's a lot of men around because of all the construction going on but I haven't heard of anyone breaking and entering or anything. But we do keep the back door locked because of the "jumping over the fence" thought. 3. Don't have pets, but neighbors do, don't think it's a problem as long as they're cleaned up after. Lots of space to take them for walks. 4. We've had company cleaners come by taxis or other drivers and they haven't had a problem. The big name stores that deliver furniture and appliances also had no problem. 5. It is nicely lit at night. Have you ever been to Cedre Villas in Silicon Oasis? It's more than that and that area is way more than Arabian Ranches and because the weather is still nice at night, it's great for walks. 6. The only problem is the access to the houses is only through the main Discovery Garden entrance. It's such a pain if you're coming from 311 (the old Emirates road) or have to go back on it. But if you have no reason to come that way, then it's not a problem. We come back to DSO and we've timed and measured it going from 77 to 311 and going from Hessa to 311 takes the same amount of time, around 35 minutes and is 40 km. Going to Saudi German at 7 am takes 20 minutes and if you go on a school day after that, it takes about 40 minutes. Getting to the Trade Center RA takes about half an hour at 8 am. The backyard was lighted, grassed and plants/rocks were put on the perimeter and this was done by going to Warsan and picking the plants and the gardener bringing them back, cost about 1500 aed. 7. This house was done through an agent and we pleaded for 3 checks. So no harm in trying your luck! Hope this helps. <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 14/05/2013</em>

When you are checking in from Dubai, show them your confirmation for Indiana and have them tag it all the way through. When you get to DC and if the bag tag is ready for Indiana, you'll collect your bags and then drop them off on another baggage carousel just near by to where you collected them from. If they don't tag the bags here, there's a place to do it right when you collect your bags. But if you are with kids or have a tight connection, I'd insist that they tag them straight from here. The international flights come in in another terminal, just follow the signs for transfers. Once you get to the main terminal, check what gate your flight is departing from and there is either the automatic tram or you can walk. there are always tons of people around to answer your questions just in case you need any help. <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 14/05/2013</em>

Black bean burgers are super healthy and real easy to make. Just freeze the patties and heat/cook/pan fry when you're ready to eat. You can use this recipe as a guideline but there's no rules for the obvious. You can add or substitute more veggies, less spices etc... http://m.allrecipes.com/recipe/85452/homemade-black-bean-veggie-burgers <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 13/05/2013</em>

Yes from the states! There isn't a lot of online shopping from actual stores here unlike the US, which is why you're having difficulty. I know how you want everything smooth and easy especially with kids, but I much wouldn't worry too much about furniture, once you purchase it, you should have it delivered within the week. When are you getting here? Timings and hours may be different in Ramadan (July 10-august 12).

There's no LON but there is a PBkids. Be prepared to over spend here comparative to the prices in the US. There's a few other home stores where you will be able to find reasonable furniture, especially for the wear and tear that boys bring :P there's home center, homes r us, freedom, and there are a lot of furniture shops in the city. You can even get custom made here if you have a special design in mind.

All purpose flour is plain flour. If you need self rising, there are recipes for it using all purpose flour, I think its with added baking soda and salt. Graham crackers-I've found the honey flavor in the cookie aisle in carrefour MCC, Medina supermarkets, and the chocolate flavor in choithrams (in the pork section, I have no idea why). It depends on what you're making. You can use tea biscuits, you can use oreos, digestives, speculoos cookies, etc... <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 10/05/2013</em>

The closest family friendly area to academic city is Dubai silicon oasis. There are the cedre villas but if you aren't looking to spend a lot, there are tons of apartment buildings in the "oasis". Some even have duplexes which could be worth looking around for. All the buildings are different, so you'll have to go in each one to see how the spaces work/don't work for you. your husband would also have easy access to the roads for his commute. From DSO, it would take 45-60 Mins. There is also the villas, layan/Al waha, and falcon city. If you live in the villas or falcon city it would take you at least 15-20 (one way) mins for dropping off at school if you were going to be doing transport. <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 10/05/2013</em>

When it was just for me and the hubby, we would spend around 1000 aed a month, including meat and veggies for the whole month. I plan my meals for 20 days of the month and cook everything from scratch at home for dinner and there's enough leftover for hubby's lunch the next day. We usually end up going out once a week and have dinner once a week at the in-laws'. After the babies came, with their diapers, shampoos, snacks and camel milk, it's now gone up to 1400 aed a month. I rarely shop at Spinney's or Choithrams. I get our meat and monthly grocery from Union Co-op and then do Carrefour once a week for fresh fruits/veggies, milk, eggs, juice toast, etc..I also bake a lot, so the bags of chocolate chips add up! But it is relative and different for every family, it depends on your salaries/school fees/savings/rent and how much you can afford to spend. When I read some of the answers, I'd be really keen to know how much your salaries are and what amount you have to spend with! 8k a month is wow! When I started teaching here, that was my whole salary! <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 06/05/2013</em>

I've had both my deliveries at city and it has always been a great experience. Plan as if you're staying at a hotel. A few days worth of clothes for you and baby, baby blankets, your toiletries, phone charger, nursing cover and pillow if you are using either. Even if you're not going to nurse, the boppy pillow comes in very handy for sitting on especially for the car ride home. They provide little tubes of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush, towels, pads/underwear/liners, slippers, diapers, baby wipes. There's no wifi and you will get bored without Internet for 2 days lol so see if you can get a data plan for a month or pay as you go. Let me know if you have any more q's about city!

There was an article in Time Out a couple weeks about about this thrift shops that uses all of its proceeds from donations to support the center for special needs and their donations are running out because of all the charity boxes that are easier to use around town. Read the article, they talk about how they use the money to help the center, really nice. http://www.timeoutdubai.com/community/features/39090-thrift-stores-in-dubai#.UT963dEpaBs

i swear by a half and half mixture of liquid dishwashing soap (i use fairy) and vinegar. let it sit, the longer the better, and then spray/wash it off. I use this cleaner for my dishes and I have it in a spray bottle in the bathrooms for the sinks, toilets, and tubs/showers. I had a spot in the shower that didn't get any sunlight and started molding (ew), I sprayed this solution on there, left it and washed it off with the muslim shower and it literally peeled off.

I take either etihad to Chicago or united to Dulles and then to ord. I've traveled a lot with babies/kids and I've always preferred a direct flight over short flights with stop overs because A) I'd like to get home faster and B) transferring and walking around in airports is a pain without kids let alone with them.

Sadly I can't help, but have you checked with Amazon to see if it's even possible to have it delivered to another address? I've had problems in the past with certain online vendors refusing to send products to addresses that aren't linked to the credit card I'm using. Unfortunately, if it's coming straight from Amazon, it can only be books, dvds and cds. It's not a 3rd party that I can contact and ask. Sorry, I think I misunderstood one of your earlier posts. Which website are you purchasing this from, Mothercare or Amazon? its available at mothercare in the uk and also on amazon. amazon's price is about 80 pounds cheaper.

I was in the opposite situation once. I was driving along, in bright daylight, and didn't even realize there was a cop behind me. He didn't have the top of the car lights flashing, he flashed his headlights at me. I thought he was telling me to move. But I didn't know what to do so as soon as I saw, I was going around the roundabout so I thought I should clear that first and then pull over. 2 seconds later, I heard the megaphone go off and I pulled over right away. He asked me why it took me so long to pull over! And I was honest and said I didn't see him and when I did, I thought he wanted me to get out of the way cuz he didn't use the proper "police lights" lol He said he pulled me over because the tail light wasn't working but then let me go after I said I'll tell my husband after I get back from the drs office and made sure he noticed I was 9 months pregnant. This isn't coming from a third party on amazon. Its coming directly from them. I wouldn't even take the chance of ordering from a third party for someone else. And again, since I have nothing to hide from the product, I am putting myself, not the other party, in a vulnerable position as they could keep the stroller and not bring it here. But I thought I would take the chance to ask a favor since I can understand the predicament. Also, I wouldnt even know where to begin if I wanted to "stuff the tubes" edited by Chi2dxb on 22/04/2013 <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 22/04/2013</em>

Lol contraband. I would obviously send all receipts and insurance to the person and they could even go through the stroller if they had any doubts. It'd all be very transparent, nothing to hide. I'm too tired and busy with 2 under 2 to think of smuggling things into the country. If anything, I'm trying to get myself out! I agree that sometimes it may seem odd but In this case I would be the one to lose out. Someone could just keep the stroller Lol but I guess I'd rather give people the benefit of the doubt because I would try to help someone if it was the other way around. And I'm ordering it directly from amazon to your door so its not like things are mixed in there which shouldn't be traveled with.

My sister, who has a US drivers license was here a couple of years back. She was driving our car (which is under my husbands name). She got into a fender bender and luckily didn't get a ticket or anything but the cop told her that she cannot drive unless my name (sister) was also on the car's registration. We then called RTA and they said the same thing, that the driver must be a blood relative of the person whose name the car is registered to. So no in-laws. International license may be different, I know my dad has one and he has driven the same car here...so I think that's fine. edited by Chi2dxb on 18/04/2013 <em>edited by Chi2dxb on 18/04/2013</em>
