It depends on the MIL! I think everyone should be happy if you're genuine and respectful with them. It also depends on your background/culture. How close is the husband to the family, physically and relationship wise.

I have the fisher price space saver. Its not available here, I brought it back from the states. We already had a 6 seat dining set so I didn't want another chair in the way. I can't say enough good things about it. I started ds in it when he was 6 months and I loved how it had a recline, made for feeding him his cereal easier. He's now 19 months and we're still using it. It's very easy to maintain and clean. : http://m.fisher-price.com/en_US/m/brands/babygear/products/52492

That's true, distance is important too. If you don't keep a car's space between you and the next car there isnt that much difference in 30 kph.

Just this weekend I saw 5 huge road accidents involving 2 or more automibiles. They really need to lower the speed limit. 120-140 kph is way too fast for the amount of cars on the road now. It was fine 10 years ago but as the population is rising, the speed limit should decrease. Back home in Chicago the highway speed limit is 55 and you can go at 65, which is 100 kph. Going from here to there it seems slow but it's definitely more safe and you can keep the car in control.

Ace hardware has it. I think its 6 aed per meter and the library distributor supply shop in bin sougat center has rolls of 5 or 6 meters prepackaged for around 25 or so. I think I remember the library shop being cheaper but they only had a couple of rolls from what I saw. If you're going from MIRDIF, BIN sougat comes on your left hand side (first)so it'd be worth it to check there and get what they have at least and then head over to Ace.

I agree with dogcatcher. I've never gotten a hotel deal but I've gotten a few salon deals and I always call the place up first as if I've already bought it to make an appointment. A few times I've called and they've said they're completely booked through the date of validity on the voucher, so I don't bother with getting it then. I wonder if these companies do it on purpose, because they know the place is full but at least they made some money off of it.

In the time that it takes to pull it out, set it up, use it, wash it, and put it back you might as well have taken out a cutting board and a knife and done the job in half the time. The vegetables that they are using in the videos are all cut and cleaned and pieced up. If you can do all that, you can chop a couple times more yourself. I agree with elm park, invest in good knives. I've had tremendous success and now swear by my ceramic knives! They are absolutely awesome. Mine are the Philips brand.

I alternate between a capful of vinegar and bleach when I run the dishwasher so I don't think that could have done it. How much did you put? I would also check the "trap" and the bottom where the dishwasher salt goes.

The school that I taught it didn't allow homemade foods. Whatever was brought in had to be store bought and individually packaged. You can buy a couple of packs of baby carrots (if they all have teeth and won't choke on them!) or celery with ranch dressing, apples with caramel sauce, granola bars with yogurt cups, and the obvious muffins/cookies/cupcakes for dessert!

Thanks so much, and I may go Karama too if not, thanks all :) Yea, you'll see the big co-op. And when you go upstairs, there's only one main shop right behind the elevators with clothes.

Not sure how many days you have if your visa is canceled, but I know that on a US passport (visa on arrival) there is a 10 days grace period after the visa expires.

From the outside, everyone is very welcoming and nice at the front desk. The KG one is getting way over crowded and the teachers are grinning and bearing it for a long time now but their frustrations are rising. The new principal is very strict and rigid, which is what the school needed after the last principal up and left. There is a man who is the "face" of the school, he has no idea what he's doing, the owner just put him in charge because he's of arab decent (those are his words, not mine). There is no solid curriculum, the books aren't standardized. It's basically every teacher for themself. When they had their KHDA review, the new principal and the staff stayed over extra extra hours to make it look like they had all their ducks in a row, but they still didn't get a good review. If you're not looking for quality, then Nibras is good, but don't expect a lot from the school at the end of the day. I understand that it's on the more affordable side, but in this case, you do get what you pay for.

My heels are saved for special outings and parties where walking is minimal. Don't know how people wear them to walk around the mall. They must not be pushing strollers or picking up their weekly/monthly grocery with little ones in tow. And if they are, whoohoo more power to them!

My husband started helping out a lot more when I was about 7 months pregnant with #2 when I found it hard to get down and bend over for #1. He did/does the diaper change in the morning before going to work and did/does the night diaper and pjs change before bed. 99% of the time, he's pretty compliant about doing things the way I do them, but if he has his own way of doing something, I try to bite my tongue and he gets the job done just fine. If for some reason I do something that he doesn't agree with, he doesn't force it either because he knows that I'm with the kids all day and I probably know what's best. A few times we've disagreed on something while DS is having a tantrum of some sort and the only thing that helps is distracting him, not DH telling me what to do from a mile away while laying on the sofa esp cuz I can't hear him with LO screaming! I'd rather have him just get up and do it or keep quiet. When we discuss it later my main point is always to not to contradict what I'm doing because that'll only cause confusion for the kids and if you can't help with completing the task at hand with the child...shut. up. until both parents are alone and can figure out how to make the situation better for next time. :)

With my first pregnancy, I got it when I was around 8 CM, didn't feel any pain at all as I was in more pain at the time. Basically got it just to push him out and def needed it for the stitches later. With the second, I progressed much more faster and way more intense than the first time and the anesthesiologist was late! They tried to use the oxygen on me, but I was not having it...I still managed to get it right at the end, I felt so much pressure that I thought something wasn't working, but it was actually the baby's head! The drs were so surprised that everything happened so fast. Both times, the delivery was at City hospital. The first anesthesiologist was a German lady, very awesome and I was also way more alert with that one. The second time, was a man, and was either super rude or I was in A LOT of pain with having back to back contractions or both. He kept yelling at me to sit still....I wanted to yell at him and tell him to try to sit still with these contractions...such a jerk, lol With both times, I didn't feel the needle and if I did, it wasn't as bad as it seems thinking about it beforehand and I didn't have any side effects, thank God. I'm already ready for the 3rd delivery (whenever that happens) and I'm going to say I want the epidural before anything even starts! :) And yes, people have done it before without any medications but when science has advanced so far, why not take advantage of it. People also use to use camels for transportation! edited by Chi2dxb on 14/03/2013

To answer your original question, it is possible to get pregnant while breast feeding..! I got my period five months after I had my son and was EBF and not on any BC and got preggers when he was 8 months... right when he started sleeping through the night. I love it, though. It was obviously a surprise and not planned but not prevented either Lol. We wanted more kids and I figured I'm already losing sleep, changing diapers and all so might as well throw another one into the mix! ;) I still feel like one more baby is missing from the family but my body cannot take another pregnancy for another couple of years.... Hopefully! BC scares me a bit and how it messes with your system so hubby is on BC duty! Haha edited by Chi2dxb on 14/03/2013

The pre packaged "kids" yogurts are loaded with sugar more than anything else. You're better off using the regular full-fat plain yogurt. I try to make a lil parfait with banana or strawberry slices or blueberries with a crumbled choc chip cookie on top! If your child isn't into fruit yet, add a dash of sugar and mix it in yourself. At least there's nothing else added and you know what's going in the yogurt.

Once my son started walking at 12 months was when I baby proofed everything. All the bottom kitchen cabinets, shoe rack drawers, dresser drawers, and side table drawers are locked with these: http://intl.safety1st.com/uk/eng/Products/Home-Safety/Safety-items/Details/2030-39029760-Fridge-Freezer-lock, they're adhesive, no drilling required. If the adhesive wears off, I use the 3m picture mounting tape to re-apply once and that lasts forever! I also want to get a gate for the kitchen so when I'm cooking and the stove is on, he stays out. Also, always use the back burners if you don't have a protective guard in front. At first, I would keep all the room doors closed, but now that he's started to open them, I got door locks. We don't have any furniture besides a couch and huge floor pillows in the living area, so that's easy, dont have to worry about any corners there. We have a changing table that's in his room from ikea and it's pretty flimsy so I've secured it to the wall in case he decides to climb up on it, which he has done before! All the cleaning supplies are locked in the laundry room. All my cleaning solutions are non-toxic and home-made so I don't have to worry about too much in that area. There's a store called Be-Safe in Times Square that's great!

There was an article in Time Out a couple weeks about about this thrift shops that uses all of its proceeds from donations to support the center for special needs and their donations are running out because of all the charity boxes that are easier to use around town. Read the article, they talk about how they use the money to help the center, really nice. http://www.timeoutdubai.com/community/features/39090-thrift-stores-in-dubai#.UT963dEpaBs

Tips and Toes do a good job. The pain is like a bandaid ripping off...continuously...for half an hour. Lol. You can use diluted tree tea oil with ice cubes and shea butter is great too for afterwards! I agree with mrsb., you'll feel super clean and it'll be all smooth... Like a baby's tush! Haha A lot of people recommend emla cream, but I wouldn't take it. You're better off taking an ibuprofen before hand. This was from the emla cream insert that I got online: In adults only, Emla can be used to temporarily numb the genital skin before surgical treatment of localised lesions, such as the removal of genital warts (http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/skinandhair/genitalwarts.htm). In adult men it can also be used to numb the genital skin before injections of local anaesthetics into this area. A doctor or nurse must supervise the use of Emla when used on the genitals. Warning! Carefully follow the instructions supplied with the cream, or given by your doctor, nurse or pharmacist. The cream should not be rubbed into the skin. Wash your hands after applying the cream, unless your hands are the area being treated. Take care to avoid contact of this cream with the eyes, as this could numb the eye and prevent its protective reflexes, resulting in irritation. If you accidentally get the cream in your eyes, rinse well with lukewarm water or saline solution and protect the eye until sensation returns. edited by Chi2dxb on 08/03/2013

I spent quite a bit of time on crutches in high school. At first, my underarms would be so sore but then I wrapped a plush towel around and secured it with a rubber band on each side and it did the job of cushioning perfectly! No more soreness. edited by Chi2dxb on 07/03/2013
