Exactly Apricot, that was my point- if other countries are doing it, why can't UAE? I wonder why was the law prevented from being passed. GMO are poison! Di@DXB, thank you! I will try these other links. I did see some products on Amazon bearing the logo of Non Gmo Project Verified, so hopefully it will work at some point. Thanks again!:)

Thank you Daza. Europe requires products coming in from the USA to have GMO labeling if there is GMO in the products. I am sure the same can be done here as well. Thanks so much Di@DXB. You are a star!! I do not buy anything processed, except a couple of things that are manufactured in Europe. I specifically AVOID buying anything that comes from the US. I love the orange sweet potato from US but I will never buy it again. :-( I buy organic mostly. Huge thanks for the app!! x If Europe can ask for labels to clearly say if there are GMO in a food product, then I am sure the same can be done here. The government may not care about us, but surely they must care about their own. <em>edited by Chocobella on 23/11/2014</em>

For anyone interested, these are invaluable talks and extremely informative on the epidemic of autoimmune issues. http://autoimmunesummit.com/j4c0d7/ http://digestionsessions.com/ I just listened to the amazing talk by Dr. Allison Siebecker in the Digestion sessions, on SIBO, the bacterial overgrowth that causes bloating and distension. Unbelievable info! No doctor will tell you the details she took the time to explain what it is, how it can be treated. Dr. Daniel Kalish did a super job explaining H. Pylori, very common stealth gut infection. The takeaway: autoimmune issues are rising at an epidemic rate. Conventional medicine only trains in disease 'management', Not prevention, Not nutrition. This is why we need Functional doctors- Naturopaths. Get educated. Especially if you or anyone in your family has autoimmune disorders. <em>edited by Chocobella on 12/11/2014</em>

Manvaar is amazing!!! I just wish they'd get a bigger place. For Pakistani and North Indian food, Karachi Inn in Discovery gardens does fab dishes. For exotic Indian, Asha's in MOE. We also love Al Reef for Lebanese. It is opposite Karama post office and cheap. When we want to eat more indulgent Lebanese we head to Cafe Blanc in Dubai Mall. Luigi's at Four Point Sheraton is a nice Italian. Small place, serve wine and have a lovely, tranquil ambiance. Breakfast at Jones the Grocer is just lovely, has a great atmosphere, not really off the beaten track though. <em>edited by Chocobella on 24/10/2014</em>

Knowing what I know about soy, I will never consume it.I know the damage it can cause so not even once in two months. It is this not caring about what you put in your body that has landed us in the deep end of autoimmune conditions. But it is always a personal choice. <em>edited by Chocobella on 24/10/2014</em>

If it is for near sightedness, I suggest before going for surgery, have a look at Bates method. Eyeglasses actually make vision even worse in case of nearsightedness.

I used to love NKD, but when I realized they had soy in it I just stopped having it. Soy is an endocrine disruptor and pretty much shuts down your thyroid, messes with your s*x hormones and is just all round bad news. I think Pizza Hut is the best bang for buck here, but that's a personal choice. I like the chewy thick crust dripping with cheese. Delivery is a hit or miss from my experience. Papa Johns is another favorite but their delivery absolutely sucks. Cold, stale looking pizzas every time. But if you get it hot, it's worth a trip down to Bur Dubai. Especially love what they used to do as a menu choice and sadly no longer do, the Sweet Heat- cheese, pineapple, jalapenos and onions. Now we just ask for a margherita with those 3 toppings. Costs a lot more than when it was in the menu but it's just fab. Beware of the garlic sauce though, made out of soy. Pizza Express used to have some creative and yum pizzas but their menu has changed so tastebuds ticklers like Soho- mozzarella, shaved parmesan, black olives and fresh rocket with oilve oil, and a vegetarian one with aubergine, zucchini and pine nuts is gone and it's expensive for what it is. Haven't tried the Nonno and Lucky's, so thank you for mentioning. Next on my list to try. <em>edited by Chocobella on 23/10/2014</em>

No. Not enough. It's not about sending a message, it's about Oscar paying for what he has done. Celebrities recover quickly. Look at Tiger Woods. The worst things happen to them but fame and public support lets you recover easily. So Oscar will be out soon and will continue to be celebrated for his sport and Reeva will be forgotten. Gross miscarriage of justice.

Thanks Emmat. Thanks Bluebutton. Lol Lolacat! You've successfully scared me! :-) But I understand your point of view. I was having severe eyeball pain and vision disturbances, along with the shoulder blade muscle pain. So went to see an ophthalmologist, extensive tests done, no issue with my eyes, doctor at a loss. So went home and researched, and my understanding of this pain has come from these: http://triggerpointrelief.com/cdrom/trapezius.html, http://round-earth.com/HeadPainIntro.html. While I agree that google is not a doctor, these articles state the exact same issues I have so there is bound to be some truth to it. I agree though, that it *could* be a disk issue as well. I am heeding your advice. Will go to Up and running. Thank you so much for your thoughts. x <em>edited by Chocobella on 21/10/2014</em>

The pain is exactly at the points that this muscle can cause pain in, and tingling is exactly how it is with this muscle being inflamed, so I'm quite certain it is what I think it is. Of course, I am not a doctor, so wanted to know where to start. Definitely no pain down the spine, and no weakness in limbs either. Thank you for your help Britgirldubai.

You must be a saint Ummuhammad. A woman publicly embarrasses you and you are finding excuses for her behavior on the basis of the length of the Jordanian abaya? What could she have done she asked? She could have walked a little further behind making THE EFFORT to NOT tread on your abaya. Plus she could have NOT shouted to have everyone look at you. It's simple manners, nothing to do with being loud as a culture or Emirati abaya being too long. You seem to be an apologist since you feel that others being rude to you must have something to do with you provoking it. Being kind and considerate is one thing, being taken for granted and insulted is quite another. <em>edited by Chocobella on 20/10/2014</em>

How confusing MMM! I hope you find out what's going on. Mrs. B, if you wouldn't mind very much, could you tell me which doctor you consult? Is it a Gynaecologist? I'm very intrigued with hearing about use of herbs. I would love to have a doctor who works with Western medicine as well as herbs. I have a gynecological condition and we are trying to get pregnant too. Will be grateful for your help.

For whatever reason, the package goes from 1.10 LB to 1.15LB, a small increase, and Aramex makes 34 AED more. I will try to get in touch with them, was hoping someone can tell me what can be done. It's been done to increase the amount due, that is for sure.

Chris Kresser: The most important thing that I want to get across as context for this discussion is that there are two different models of endocrinology, which is the branch of medicine that deals with hormone issues. There’s the replacement model of endocrinology and the functional model of endocrinology. The replacement model is basically measuring what’s low and replacing it. So you go to the doctor and they measure your hormones. Let’s say you have low estrogen and progesterone, and they give you estrogen and progesterone to replace those and bring those levels back up. That’s the replacement model. The functional model is different. It is concerned with determining the underlying cause or source of the problem and addressing it at that level, and then once you do that, the hormones basically take care of themselves because there are basic systems in the body that are required for proper hormone function, and if you make sure those systems are functioning well, then the hormones will usually be in balance and at optimal levels. I'm looking for a functional doctor as described in the above excerpt. You could always google of course. <em>edited by Chocobella on 14/06/2014</em>

And the most healing food is bone broth. Get a couple of pieces of beef bones from Organic foods, they stock grass fed beef, bake in oven at 200deg fro 20-25 minutes. Remove and put in a large pot, add a carrot sliced, couple of chopped celery stalks, a little garlic and ginger. Fill to brim, add salt to taste and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, raw, with mother if possible (available at Carrefour/Geant/Hyper panda). Bring to a boil and then let it simmer on low heat for 10 -14 hours. Skim the fat away as it rises to the top. Have this, 2 cups every day. This will contribute greatly in healing your gut. <em>edited by Chocobella on 28/05/2014</em>

Yes it is Londiamond, I bought it at Organic foods pharmacy section. I'm sure it will be available at other pharmacies too. Do make sure that it is Betain AND pepsin both together. But before that, I would suggest taking advice from a doctor. Unfortunately, a lot of doctors are not aware of these things, but at least know whether it is suitable for you considering your longterm digestive issues. I am so sorry for what you went through Londiamond. Hug! Put it behind you, and enjoy your good fats. They'll give you so much energy and lift your spirits no end! Have a bulletproof coffee and see your mood and energy soar! Take back the power and heal inside out! http://www.bulletproofexec.com/how-to-make-your-coffee-bulletproof-and-your-morning-too/

Londiamond, Betaine with Pepsin works great for protein break down. Most of our issues are because our gut is damaged, we have low stomach acid, resulting intolerance and absorption issues. You take one capsule of Betain with Pepsin at the beginning of a protein meal. There is a protocol for this, I'll post a link for you.

Avocado salsa is a quick snack, or just cut up avocado with salt and pepper. My favorite is a steaming cup of grass fed beef bone broth! Yum! Totally digressing but the worst advice we have got so far has been a low fat diet. A low fat diet messes with your thyroid, with your fertility, sugar balance and bones. Read Weston A price. Read Wheat Belly, http://www.wheatbellyblog.com/ . Wheat belly's facebook page has some unbelievably amazing transformations! Read Chris Kresser, The Paleo Mom, Hypothyroid Mom, Mommypotomus, Autoimmune Paleo, Mark's daily apple and so many more! There's a whole bunch of people who have healed their gut, put autoimmune conditions into remission, lost weight, balanced their sugar, gotten rid of several long term issues like headaches, acne, diarrhea, IBS, chronic fatigue, all by avoiding wheat and other grains and eating a high fat moderate protein moderate-low carb diet. I remember counting tablespoons of olive oil, and measuring my brown rice pasta and not a single change in me. If you eat a lot of good fats at every meal, you will have no sugar crashes and you won't need to snack. Fats like coconut oil, avocados, olive oil, grass fed ghee, grass fed butter, MCT oil all work to fill you up beautifully and completely eliminate the sugar cravings. I know this because I am on this diet, and I am a former sugar addict. I was a sugar addict because I have insulin resistance so I have to keep my sugar cravings down. With this diet 50-80% fat and the rest veggies and protein means my bloating is gone, sugar cravings down to zero and generally happy!! I LOVE the freedom of eating butter! :-) I have an autoimmune disorder and hypothyroidism, and the ONLY thing that will heal me is healing my gut. That is why you must avoid wheat, because the wheat available now causes leaky gut and that wreaks havoc with your entire system. But most definitely it does NOT mean loading up on 'gluten free' products that are chockablock with starches and additives. Whole foods, grass fed meat, and good fats are what will restore your health. Wheat intolerance is not a fad, it is a reality because wheat has been cross bred to such a degree that it is no longer fit for human consumption. And the worst part is the damage will show up 5 days AFTER you have eaten gluten by which time you have forgotten that you ate wheat at all!
