Hi Blimey. I guess it depends on the type of PoA you're after (general or specific) and other aspects. Try Hossam 055 555 7930 - he usually gives you good advise and helps saving some dirhams. ;)

Hi Zephyr, I ended up going to Dr Samiha in Shj again. After reading about some experiences with some promotions, decided I could not risk my face / body. Price is still the same and they have some package promotions every month but I have no info on that. Hope you find a good solution.

Thank you so much ladies. I first thought of Cafe Ceramique too but am a bit reluctant about it for 2 reasons - wonder if you could help on that: 1. is it baby friendly (as many parents will bring their babies and toddlers along)? 2. does it include F&B for parents? Thanks once again.

A boy turning 5. We are also looking for locations we can rent and then bring some party organisers (but trying to keep a low budget - if that is possible in DXB!). Thanks.

Thanks a lot. I also thought of Craftland but not sure they will have it as the model I am looking for is for the American market and I believe the models they have here are not. Anyway, I might be lucky! :) Will contact Jumbo, meanwhile.

Hmmmm heard about it too. But what about dates production then? And desert safaris? And camel rides? And... and... and... Not happy about the crazy summer heat but not sure I like this idea either. :(

OMG! :( I have just read an article by a famous guy that advocates that in nursery kids should only have PE, arts, music and loooooots of play time (with no evaluation or any pressure on these activities but to enjoy them). I could so easily relate to his philosophy! He even says he never did any homework until he was 12 or 15 (sth like that) and he now has a PHd! As I have a younger one, almost turning 2 and who will soon join nursery, can you please advise a nursery that is 'laid back' (caring for the kids, of course and providing a good atmosphere) but that is not academically oriented at all :) ? Thanks once again to you all for helping me not feeling the odd one out.

Starting to feel a bit better thanks to you all, ladies, as usual. Thank you as I don't feel like the weird one anymore :). I will definitely go and see Safa school - rather move him to a different school than having him missing his childhood. My son's school follows ICP with Montessori (and then CP from then onwards). Do you know how different this method is from Reggio Emilia? Which one would be less intensive?

There is also a shopping mall in Al Qusais that has many fabric shops - they used to be cheaper than in Al Ghurair and of the same quality. Al Bustan Centre? maybe... edited by Cigarra on 21/03/2013

Hi JPS1 I used to pay 400 AEd for one session full face but last time was 300 aed (I did not do forehead). I was looking fora price list but could not find it. Will let you know if I find you and will email you the list if you prefer. Even laser hair removal is not permanent, especially if there is a hormonal problem (which is my case). But the hair takes long time to grow back, sometimes even years after a few sessions.

Chicco - Anti-Mosquito (3m+) - The only thing I use with my kids since they were babies. It DOES work. Just to add I use the cream. Just rub a tiny bit to exposed areas. edited by Cigarra on 10/03/2013

Hi JPS1: I have been doing laser (not ILP) for years on my face and even did it while pregnant although avoided it in the last months of pregrnancy (some doctors say it is ok and others that you better avoid it until you deliver). Anyway, my 3 doctors (yeah I am friends with lots of them :) ) told me it's ok to do it while breastfeeding (except for breasts - in case you have hair in that area). I usuall go to Dr. Samiha Lutfi in Sharjah. You can go any time without appointment (except for the 1st time). I am very happy with results and prices and I am even going there from Gardens!!!! I also want to try this promotion as it would be closer but if no feedback I will keep going to SHJ. Let me know if you get any feedback.

This is a condition that hasn't been much investigated and, I agree with Manubhadauria, the % should be higher if they surveyed again. According to recent investigations, diet does play a crucial role (as in everything :) ) and loosing weight (esp waist area) is very important for those of us (yes, me too!!!) suffering from it. You can find some books giving advice on the adequate diet for PCOs.

Sorry, I am new to the 'maid world' but do you provide the maids with the cleaning products or do they bring them from the company? Lynn 66 - my husband takes the laundry with him for ironing in some place in Bur Dubai and they charge AED 2 which I find great value and they do a good job. The laundry near us charges AED 5 per piece. you supply everything for them. Thanks Arohadxb

Food on click dot com - it has deals for restaurants but I think it's only for home delivery. It is a great service though and very easy to use. I've used them twice - no problems at all.

Quit to understand the logics here! Just heard this true story. Totally confirmed: a girl (almost 30) was in a company that was getting her salaries late (still getting it though) and she was all teary eyes at the entrance of her building. A guy from another company came up to her, asked why she was crying, she told him and he got her a job! Find it hard to find a job here??? Maybe you are crying too much... AT HOME! :) Make it public. Next thing: recruitment agencies will be closing down and buildings will have crying restrictions in their building policies. Sorry for the irony but just feeling amazed at a few things heard today! SalsB: [i'>[/i'>but she is very slim attractive.... Well, MD might be both as well... or one... or the other!

Hi lemondrops, I truly understand your feelings but do not loose hope. Me and DS also had a difficult start (although much shorter and he was not premature) but everything seemed to be solved by itself with the help of plastic nipples (don't know if this si the name in English :) ) - he would not bf directly from my breast in the beginning and once I managed to relax. Plus, there is a breastfeeding mums club in DXB (search the threads here) that might be able to help you out or at least give you some support. Listen to as much advice as you can. All the best and don't forget: "Bonding is the emotional connection a baby makes with his caregiver when his needs are consistently met. The baby learns to trust that when he cries, he will get those needs provided for. Whether that is physical food or emotional love given by holding, slowly the infant learns that Mommy (and Daddy) give him a secure environment where he can trust that his basic needs will be cared for. (Erik Erickson's stages of social development provide great insights here.)" It does not matter whether you are BF or FF, you are mother and daughter - the bond is there already. it's just a matter of 'helping it out'.

Hi grigo 123, You can open a case against him in the police station belonging to the area where that happened. For the Palm area it might be Jebel Ali or Al Barsha. If he is in the country your chances are very good. They will investigate the case and call the guy. If you need more details or info, email me at scfc21 at hotmail dot com.

Been to Barasti and checked out James and Alex.... Not a fan of either. Too much emphasis on how to look 'good' (some of the ladies 'styling' makes me grin!) Someone with the same idea here. I was actually demotivated from dancing salsa here. Too much effort in looking goog, too much partner -picking (good I have DH and he likes it or I'd miss old times back home when dancing was pure joy, regardless of the partner), too much arms and legs moving. But... No salero! No joy! No passion! And have you seen bacciata - when I watch them dancing it here I am always afraid some legs might just fly out of the bodies eheheh. Let's import some good teachers from Cuba or Porto Rico. Don;t mean to start a fight here (esp w/ other latin countries) but they still are the best for me.

Our now 2 1/2 DS never had big problems with burping after breastfeeding. However, it would take a bit longer some times (especially at night when you need your repair sleep so that you can survive work next morning)... until our friend gave us a valuable tip a doctor gave her: when you put the baby to burp, place his stomach on your shoulder. We used to place his head instead and hold him upright! Once we changed the position, burping became an automatic thing :) . Hope it helps.

They tell me that their days are determined by the Ministry so can somebody please tell me whether their nursery is open today and what their policy is on different holidays? Ceese, I don't know about Ministry determinations. However, I can tell you that our DS's nursery never closes except for the holidays that everybody gets. they don't even close by the end of terms. So, I guess the Ministry thing might be a good excuse. Plus, we pay our fees monthly. Yes, it might not be a fancy schmancy one but our DS is happy there, never cries when we drop him and he is well taken care of and well developed and I would say even has learnt a few more skills than some friend's kids - especially so him social and emotional skills. They have about 1 or 2 activities every month: going to the cinema, the dolphinarium, the aquarium, etc. 2 1/2 years old and knows colours, numbers, shapes, some letters, and those sort of things in 3 languages (and we do not teach him at all at home as we want him to be just a kid playing for as long as possible). People here spend fortunes with schools and then still have to pay overtime and a place to have them during end of term holidays! How crazy is that? And if you are working parents, how can you manage?
