La Verandah is on the beach - pizza and pasta restaurant - usually got vouchers in the entertainer book but not sure it's in there this year. It's a good location with great views of the Burj Al Arab and the pizzas are pretty good. I'd also recommend the Noodle House (vouchers are definitely in the book) at the Madinat - you can sit outside on the terrace.

I would speak to the Lekes club and see if they can provide you with a lifeguard. I'm sure one of their guys would be happy to earn some extra cash at the weekend.

Youre probably best buying them form Ikea and then getting a handyman to put them up.

Hi Bubbly I was planning on them starting school in September, as we're probably moving out first week of June. Rather a long break I know. Unfortunately I don't know anyone with kids who live in Dubai. Actually I can do some digging around. I beginning to get worried about the long waiting lists. If I was in your shoes I'd put them into school as soon as you arrive. That way you will probably have a much better chance of a place in the summer term. They will make friends so they can play over the long holiday. You will meet other mums in the final month of the term there which will be good for you too. You will have so much to sort out when you get there that having them in school will make it easier for you to get stuff sorted. Plus...... It will be really hot so they will need to stay indoors for alot of yr time and I would prefer for mine o be learning rather than driving me mad when they get bored! Just a thought....... It could be a good way of getting your places at your preferred school.

Cleopatra the children's garden is a superb environment or little ones and my 2 children lived it. My only concern is with the kg2 year and then trying to place the child into another school. I chose, because of my child's birthday to take my litte boy out after kg1 so he did nt do kg2 there. I have friends who stayed to do kg2 because their child was young in the lass and they then joined their next school at year 1 because of their birth date. It's confusing having a December cut off when all the other schools work to a September cut off. I think grade 1/year 1 is such an important year for learning all the fundamentals of early education that I did not want my kids to miss it.

I would gree with bam am. The children's garden is fantastic and if you want your litte one to keep her French then that would be an excellent choice for you. You will also find that you will find friends there for you who will speak French. My 2 children went to the green community branch - at that time it was the only one! Now they have a branch in jumeirah and they are due to open a new branch in September in al barsha. Both my kids loved there time there and we met some lovely families of all different nationalities there who we still see.

We always stay at le meridien al aqah and were there for Easter it's consistently good. Vouchers for some of the restaurants are in the entertainer book which really helps too. Kids club is superb.

I took my 2 kids there this week and they had a fabulous time. I decided to go in with them but planted myself in the parents lounge with Internet access and good coffee and free newspapers. I had a couple of very tranquil hours in there - well worth 90 dhs if you ask me!!!!! this sounds like heaven! It seriously was!!!!!

The children's garden is superb. Both mine went to the original one in the green community. They were beautifully looked after, nurtured and entertained they learnt o much in a beautiful environment. If I had a little one now I would not hesitate returning to the children's garden.

You do not have to show people around. I would contact your LL and come to an agreement of perhaps a set day/morning for viewings. If its getting too much you don't have to do it at all.

I would add to bmap's info that it often doesn't drag out. In our case we were in the court room for less than 5 minutes. Straightforward - our ll wanted us out. He needed the house himself, then he was going to sell, then his wife was pregnant - all the tricks. It was the first renewal. He was told in no uncertain terms that he was to renew, we were to be allowed to stay in that property for up to 3 years with no rent increase. They worked out there and then the costs and deducted them from his rent cheque so the 2nd years rent cheque to him was less the court costs and all was sorted out there and then. I think this guy should look to buy another property goodness knows there are plenty for sale. To the op. if you really really love the place then stay - you have every right to but - if everything is being handed to you and paid for I think in this situation I'd take a look at some other properties you may find an absolutely amazing pace in which to enjoy your final year in Dubai.

If the contract is not registered then it's more trouble for him. Speak to the people at the rent committee and get them to confirm your rights to stay (as long as it does not say non renewable anywhere on your contract) then write to him informing him that you plan to renew for a further year at no rent increase in accordance with the law......... If he has a big problem with that lethim take you to the rent committee - you will win and he will lose and end up with less rent for the 2 nd year as the court costs are taken off the annual rent!

Howdra, I know i go on about them, but has any other company sent out four guys for 150aed an hour? Excellent. Love them. Ask for Archie. I always find that whatever company you use you usually get one man to hold the ladder, one man to pass the drill, one man who gives out orders and only one guy who actually does something!!

Simpleas is right - most of the properties for rent are often left open. So if I were you take yourself around and where you see for rent boards just take yourself in to view. Where are you moving from in the uk? I used to live in Dubai and have recently come back I'm very happy to help you in the uk. I flew back home last night hence early waking up! Yes most agents are useless. It's very frustrating especially when you are only there for a look/see. You will find that unless you are signing a contract for the next few weeks then most agents won't want to spend time with you. You really only need to look fr a property a couple of weeks before moving in - then they will bite your hand off and go the extra mile.

If you have only been in your property for a year I think it's highly unlikely that you are paying 25%less than the market rate. The ll is yet again trying it on.

Check whether your lease has a clause in it dictating whether it can be renewed "at the Landlord's discretion". If it says that, he [i'>can [/i'>ask you to leave after one year. He cannot increase the rent however if the RERA calculator says he can't. Both these facts have been checked by me with a RERA representative. That clause is a standard clause. As long as you have a renewable contract ( ie it does not state non renewable) then you have every right to stay.

There was a thread about this nursery a whole ago and another just a few weeks ago so please use the search and see if you can pull them up as there was a mum on here who had an appalling experience at this nursery. My children both attended the children's garden English /French and I always highly recommend it - they loved it there and still talk about their time there. There is a branch in jumeirah.

Arabic name necklaces. Where can you find those, AB? I don't think I've ever seen them. Simpleas - I've had them made at cara in the gold and diamond park and I've got one that was made by damas. Most of the jewellery shops do them. Cara do them quicker than 2 weeks if you need one quickly.

We used Alison from Dubai doghouse too - she's fantastic and really knows what's best fr the animals. We took our cat home to the uk in the summer and everything was great. Kept all her cp vaccs up to date including getting rabies done each year to avoid having to have the serology blood test re- done. Everything worked fine and our 15 year old cat is now loving her retirement in amongst the trees watching the squirrels in the uk!

We lived there for 3 years and had very few issues with our villa but I know people who had terrible issues with theirs. You really need to look around carefully. We loved living there. We never had a problem but know quite a few people who struggled with mozzies from the water it also could smell really bad if you were close to the water.

Go into manage my booking and request special assistance. They will take you in a wheelchair or buggy to the plane and through immigration and security at both ends but you must book it in advance. When you get to DXB get a Porter to take your luggage they will put it through X-ray for you and straight on to the belt at check in so you will not have to lift anything. At heathrow you will be met off the flight and taken through security and immigration and you can hire skycaps by te luggage carousel. Your little one cn Sutton your lap or go in the buggy with you. I book this or my parents when they came to visit as they were not able to walk long distances. It is lays ood. I recently travelled ith my 2 children following a knee operation nd the assistance was excellent and as the kids were young and travelling with me they benefitted from te special assistance too! Just make sure you are fit to fly and have a dr note if you need one but let them know that you have problems walking long distances and will need some assistance.

I hope in time you will all be able to look back with smiles on your faces like I can now do when I remember my lovely lovely dad. Xxxxx
