I believe it is - if you have a problem with anything it's that post office that you are referred to - I'm sure they told me it is their central office.

Definitely take pictures and up load on the classifieds on here and also Dubizzle - Dubizzle is amazing - I've had some success on the classifieds here but far far better results on Dubizzle and - as soon as you 've sold the stuff you can go in and take off so you're not bothered with calls.

You're probably better putting the word out and setting up a table in your garage early one Friday morning and I bet everything will go. Do you really want a whole load of strangers calling you and coming over to view? It's the time that the philippino girls are all packing their big boxes to send home so it would be a good time to clear out.

Would not recommend the Miramar Al Aqah. Stayed there for a weekend at the end of April and were very disappointed in comparison to our stay there last year. Very dirty rooms and staff rude and unhelpful - it has gone downhill alot. Nowhere near the standard of a 5 star hotel, in my opinion. On the East Coast my favorite is the Mirador in Al Aqqa, beautiful... I think you mean the Miramar! that's interesting feedback - we always stay at Le meridien as it's consistently great!

Finally braving it out to Dragonmart this weekend to see what everyone talks about. Any places that you ladies recommend? If you can go during the week it's better - it can get so busy at the weekends. I love strolling around there when it's really empty during the week and that's when you get the best prices - you could be the only person they've seen that day!

If it was me with twins I would choose the school closest to home. Do you know if they are going to be in the same class or will they split them - you could end up spending all your time on the Emirates Road dropping and picking up the kids from playdates and parties. At least if you're closer to the school your journey time is easier. Not sure how old they are but as they start doing after school activities it becomes challenging and you end up as a glorified taxi driver! You are in a great position to have 2 schools to choose from - many people don't have that opportunity.

the Ipad 2s in Dubai do not have facetime so if you really want that you should buy in the UK. Having said that - Etisalat sim card blocks facetime here so you won't get it - if you get a Du sim card it might work but no promises...... I would buy a new laptop - Ipad is great but not to do your every day stuff on - would still really need a laptop. edited by Clairehdp on 18/05/2011

Yep - I love Zyng too. there's another restaurant right by the side of Zyng and they do special lunch dishes and it's really nice but I can't for the life of me remember it's name. You could always drop into the Ibn Battuta Gate hotel and see if they have any nice lunch offers. Is it Finz? Oh yes that's it Jill - thanks!

I just crossed the road near there and got flashed by a driver who was well over 150 metres away but obviously in a hurry. I made sure I gave myself plenty of time to cross and get to the other side as I am 34 weeks along and not as quick on my feet but I can't believe he/she had the nerve to flash me from such a distance away!!!! This is where it's a strange old world. In the UK if you flash someone it's to say - please go ahead and cross or pull out in front of me - here it seems to mean - get the **** out of my way!....... this was something I found really confusing when I first started driving over here - I thought people were letting me in in a polite way and nearly lost the front of my car a few times until I realised that they were meaning completely the opposite!

We looked into this for our housemaid but quite a while ago so not sure if it is still the case but.....they needed to open the account with so much money that it was just not possible. My housemaid who is from the Philippines told me that the interest rate in the Philippines is high for savings so it was far more cost effective to do her savings in an account there and reap the benefit of the high savings rate than trying to open an account here.

There are some nice older style properties around Farnborough, but as already said I personally wouldn't want to decamp there. However, beautiful beautiful villages in the surrounding area. Hartley Witney, Church Crookham, Farnham is lovely used to enjoy Borelli's Wine Bar there on a Friday. Can't believe we didn't meet before - all my old haunts!!!!!!! and exactly where we have our house! It certainly is, and if you say that you used to go the Golden Fleece for Thai near Elstead I may just pass out... Fullofdreams....... we must have been fairly close too, I went to BCOT and lived just outside Alresford.. Ooooooh no - not been to the golden fleece in Elstead but.......on my agenda as I adore Thai food....

Now I feel homesick!! I grew up in Fleet (town nearby) went to school in Farnborough (good Catholic primary and then Farnborough Hill Convent school) married in Church Crookham, again lovely before heading to Uni in Exeter and settling in a small village called Warsash near Southampton. Seems really strange that we are on the other side of the world and yet so many of us come from the same places in the UK!! Oh my God.......i grew up in Fleet and I went to Farnborough Hill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's it - we need to meet!!!!!! I can feel a Hampshire happy hour coming on!!!!

Oh right - you'll be fine for a few months there, but as mentioned, you may have to look outside of Farnborough to find exciting things to do, as it's not the most lively places to live in terms of entertainment/shopping, etc.... I agree - if it's just for a few months take a look at staying in Farnham - it;s a lovely old town and you can stroll around the various wine bars and restaurants - it;s got a lovely feel in the evenings and has some nice parks and places to visit from there and for work it's a really easy drive into Farnborough.

DH is from Camberley and I was there for quite a few years, so know the area well. As mentioned, you can get into London quite quickly from Farnborough Main train Station, for shopping you can get to Guildford, Woking, etc., quite easily. Large M&S as mentioned at The Meadows in Sandhurst , also massive Tesco there. Asda is at Farnborough. I never had a problem getting work in the area (mostly worked for local gov in admin). Farnborough has a good technical college where DH and I did some evening classes, so good if you want to further your education....any other questions, feel free to ask (don't have kids though, so can't help with schools, etc)...also not far to travel to Heathrow Airport... edited by chizz on 16/05/2011 Chizz we used to live in Camberley and are looking at a new house there now to buy! Small world!

I live close by to Farnborough and went to school there!!!!! Very handy for London - good fast train service. Central Farnborough doesn't set the world on fire but just outside you have Farnham which is a lovely small market town, Camberley up the road with good shops and a new cinema complex. It's only a very short drive to the huge M&S at The Meadows. I have lived in that area most of my life so can help you - we live a bit further out so we can cycle on the canal towpath to some lovely country pubs! Good road links - M3, M25, M4, A30 etc etc. Both my kids were born at Frimley Park Hospital which is the nearest local hospital and, on the whole, has a pretty good reputation. It's an easy part of the country to be based in.

I'm with SW on this - please take her to get checked - poor little thing. I did post natal baby massage classes and the mums with constipated babies were told to gently rub the babies tummies after their baths in the shape of I L U - I love you...... just stroke with 2 fingers some oil on their tummies in the line of an I then the line of an L and follow with a U - the results were amazing - all it's really doing is helping the blockage gently along the digestive system but boy - did it work! Remember very gently and calmly - it was quite extraordinary how something so simple helped so many of them. Good luck and I hope your little one feels better soon.

I don't want to alarm you but it sounds very much like my Mum. She had a small mark by her nose and it would often crust over - only small and I kept on at her to get it checked. She left it for quite a while - she said it didn't hurt and it was only a little dry patch that from time to time scabbed over. She did eventually go to see her GP in the UK and he referred her to a dermatologist who did a biopsy and it was skin cancer. she ended up having an operation to remove the tissue and they did an amazing job with a plastic surgeon to cover it up - there's no way you can even see where the surgery took place. So......it might be nothing but you are absolutely right to get it checked out by someone else and I would do it sooner rather than later. I really like Dr Nasir at Dermacare and he trained in the UK with some of the best dermatologists - I know he's been very ill so not sure he is back in the clinic yet but if not someone else is bound to come on and recommend a good dermatologist. Dr Khan is a great surgeon - if I had to have a biopsy on my face I'd probably get him to do it. He removed some suspect moles from my DH and the scars are almost non existent from his very very neat stitching. I would also get myself an appointment with an oncologist - there's a really good cancer specialist clinic in Abu Dhabi and I believe that the American hospital has a good oncology department. Hope that helps you. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

There are lots of furniture shops at the end of Satwa and they sell pretty good selection suitable for the smaller maids rooms. I was amazed at how small some of these rooms are - we have been lucky as the rooms in the villas we have had have been a good size and we have been able to furnish it with a double bed and other items like display cabinet and a couple of sets of drawers. I've seen some nice smaller items in Satwa that would make the rooms feel more spacious.
