If you inform the agency when you are booking that you need to have the same person every week especially for the children you should be fine and get the same person week in, week out.

Just go to Carrefour or anywhere they sell them, ask to see the guys who set them up, and then offer them a part time job after duty time to come and do yours I was going to suggest the same. the guys in Geant are really helpful and might well be interested to do it for you. they won't need a van once it's dismantled they can fit in a car.....

Thank you every one. Corkshelly, I will be w aiting for your reply. Sticky Wicket: Are you sure we can bypass the queue if we pay the "urgent" fees? Thanks Yes you can - I always pay for the urgent because it usually is as I alwasy seem to leave it til the last minute! It's always been fine when I've done that at Satwa. Get the typing done in the hut in the grounds of the clinic - the guy in there is really helpful.

We did Wild Wadi on Thursday and it was OK. Take some extra towels as it's chilly when you get out of the water and our towels were really wet but otherwise it was fine. The new rides at Wild Wadi are FANTASTIC! Prefer it to Aquaventure and the food is better there too. I can't wait to try out Wild Wadi - in 5 years we've not been yet! Are the family rides good? We weren't that impressed with Aquaventure and there wasn't really a great deal for the girls or us to go on together Oh my God Lesley - it's fantastic! Your girls are at a good age now to really enjoy it. the new family rides are wonderful. We ended up getting sunbeds right by those rides and the kids were on them the whole afternoon - there was no queuing - they must have gone on one of the rides 10 times!!!!! Really really good. Much better than it used to be. Entertainer vouchers always help!

The US won't allow you to pay her what you pay her here. They will inquire about her salary. There are minimum wage laws there. And you won't be exempt. Same for the UK too - minimum wage etc etc.

Thanks ladies, my husband has said he has seen a nice one in alma today & he is looking at another one tomorrow. He thinks i'll really like it & as you have said, he says its great for being near shops etc. My only worry is driving as its further out by quite a bit I think to the springs?? I'm so nervous about the driving but guess this would throw me in right at the deep end which may be a good thing! I'd have to get driving quicker. What is the traffic like around there? Is it an easy drive to the malls etc Thanks again x It's an easier drive from Ar to mall of the emirates than from the springs you turn onto umm sequel road from Ar and go straight! No awful roadworks like the roads around springs. Much easier to get to anywhere from Ar IMO.

I would think it would be open today - give them a ring..... from JBR I'd get onto Emirates Road and join the Al Ain Road route 66. takes you past the outlet mall and you just stay on there - it's well signposted. About 1.5 hours I seem to remember. There's a location map on their website. http://www.awpr.ae/en/Pages/AU-Location.aspx

Hiya - this is exactly what we did - my DH went on his own though as he wasn't sure if it was a good plan to take either me or the kids......he said it was an experience but not necessarily a good experience...... I got directions from here http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=135816 There was a municipality vet who visits the stores there and who was really helpful when my DH met with him and another vet there too who asked me to e mail the microchip number to her so if she scanned the cat she could contact me. As you know.....Millie was found on our street after 10 days missing - she was having a party at the end of the road...... What worked for us were leaflets to every single villa in La coleccion - I had some calls with possible sightings from various villas - some were about a cat who looked similar but the one that got us back down that end of the road was from a lady who felt 100% sure she had seen Millie in her garden - we just spent so much time down that end of the road and went back very late at night and there she was - surrounded by a whole load of cats - having the time of her life!!!!!!........ We've not had a leaflet on Twinkle. If I were you I would drop again - offer a reward. Get the guards at the gate to give out leaflets to all the gardeners too. give a leaflet to the security guard by the golf course construction site. E mail all the vets here in Dubai with a picture and a leaflet. Feline Friends were really helpful too. Have you put her on Dubizzle - I got a couple of calls from the Dubizzle lost and found ad. Really sorry you've not found her yet......I am keeping my eyes peeled for you....... fingers crossed she will be found soon.

It's like anything really it's what you make it. We love it here. Our kids have a great time. They love school and are learning well. We live in a lovely villa, have 2 cars, travel around from Dubai on nice holidays etc etc but......it's very expensive to live here. Do a search as buy me a pony has recently done an analysis on what sort of package you need to make it worth your while moving here and it makes very interesting reading. I know people who do not enjoy it here and those who are struggling but as long as you come with your adventure head on and you have a good package - you should be fine.

Sorry freckles that you are feeling this way it's awful when you have back to back illness like that. I have been giving my 2 fresh carrot and orange juicer for a couple of months now and we seem to have avoided all the cold/flu bugs - not sure if it's that but might be - worth a try to boost their vitamin c intake. There is also an immune booster syrup that I tried on the advice of an indian doctor which is a natural product I'll check the name of it for you and let you know what it is -that might also help to boost their immune system. My friends are having the same issues with their little ones and they are not in Dubai! Hope you have a better time soon xx

The overwater rooms at the Hilton Iru Fushi have plunge pools and ladders down into the sea - amazing - we had to stay in a beach villa because our kids were just too young to stay in the overwater rooms but the beach villas were stunning and you got a gorgeous garden with a lovely private gazebo. When we were there most of the water villas were occupied by honeymooners or seriously loved up couples! Superb! Check out Hilton.com because they often have amazing deals - we just booked a 50% discount room at Hilton Resort and spa in Ras al Khaimah and it was fab......depending on the dates of your honeymoon you might be lucky enough to get one of those deals..... edited by Clairehdp on 15/02/2011

The outlet mall is worth a visit you can really pick up some great things there at good prices but you need to be prepared to hunt for the gems. I personally can't bear to do that but some of my friends have got he most amazing things from there so I know if you lv shopping it's a great place to spend a morning!

The rumour in Muscat goes that Marina furniture has an outlet store in Dubai. Can any of you girls shed some light on this? Yes there is an outlet Marina store in the outlet mall - different to the warehouse. ooo, whats in that then claire? Loads of stuff furniture, mirrors, nic nacs, rugs - some things might have a small imperfection but others are fine I think they just use it to clear excess stock. Worth checking out and the prices are pretty good.

We used GLOBALPACK (think they are different to global shipping) and they were superb. Did the move over 2 days packed all the house except the beds the first day so we could still sleep there and then packed the beds and completed the move and unpacking everything the next day. Friends could not believe it when I sent pictures the evening of our move - we were all settled on our sofa with everything in it's place. They were absolutely amazing and zero damage. I always recommend them and know others who have used them and have been equally happy.

Dear GoldinGlitterPunk...........I have read quite a few of your posts.........I believe I am right in thinking that you and your siblings very recently lost both your parents? Quite apart from the stress of suddenly becoming overnight, the responsible adult for several other young, wounded and vulnerable people, you share their same catastrophic grief. On top of which you are a relatively young mother of a child who has some developmental delay? And, you are considering moving to one of the world's most unforgiving cities..........you may feel you have made many friends, and perhaps a few of the people you have swapped posts with wil actually materialise in real time, but please remember EW is just cyberspace. Please, please do not for a moment think that Dubai will be an easier or better place than where you are......and please, give yourself and your siblings a chance to grieve, and to readjust to a new reality, in the place where you are all at least reasonably settled and familiar. Take the time being offered, stay in London.......and just let the dust settle on your lives. There will be time enough for adventures later. Wise words Trish. I agree completely. I'm not sure how long it has been since you lost your parents but I lost my Dad in the summer and everyone tells me that the first year is the hardest. I think you need to have time to grieve, time to readjust your life where you are and doing a big move is perhaps not right for you at this time. If my DH compay offered to delay the move I would jump at that. OK so your DH might have to travel - but at least it gives you some breathing space. Your little one will benefit from another year of therapy - if he's already started on a programme I would stick with it. You may well find that in 14 months time you are looking at a very different situation with him and his speech problems might be much improved. You will get far more/better support in the UK on this than over here. Tough few days ahead for you but you are right to raise these issues - sit down with your DH and really really cover off all of your feelings with him. Good luck.

I would be wary buying an electronics in Karama, why don't you just go to Carefour, they have a big selection of the basic Nokias for between 100-400dhs. And at least you will get some sort of guarantee. I completely agree I was going to post exactly the same.

The report is well written, it is what it is. In fact, I probably would have been quite happy with it if it wasn't for the Reception Year end report from last year. It was the difference that hit me. I'm not worried that there is a serious problem, having said that I still want the child to have her potentials fully developed, and not get lost as one of the numbers as "within expectations". I will be talking to the teacher in the coming Parents evening. I don't do pick ups, so don't get a chance to catch the teacher regularly, and when I do it's "How's she doing?", "Fine....she is where she needs to be..."..grrr. edited by Sugarbeach on 11/02/2011 Just a thought - something that you do need to factor in here is that she has undergone a huge huge change by leaving her friends and her school in the UK and coming over to Dubai to a new bedroom, new home, new school, new friends - so they have lots of other things to deal with as well as their school work. It might just be that she's not able to perform to her max with everything else that she's had to get used to. I think what's good is that she's where they would expect her to be - they are not flagging that they have any concerns and she will probably fly after this half term. We do seem to expect so much from these little ones.

Irish Village is the best place, lots of pork, you can sit outside and the LOs can play. The Montgomerie didn't renew their pork licence so only use beef bacon. They might have changed it, we refused to go back because of this. Oh no! a golf club with no bacon butties - appalled..... Arabian Ranches definitely renewed theirs we had lovely bacon butties there last week.

Just a heads up - you can't use Entertainer Vouchers on Valentine's Day :-( In the front part in the conditions it says that they can't be used on New Year's eve, day, mother's/father's day and valentines day. But she's planning on eating out tonight so she should be fine unless they change the date of Valentines Day like they have with the Prophet's birthday!
