Be careful - you might want to check with them that they are accepting the vouchers because is is no longer part of the Jumeirah group so the vouchers might be null and void and that would be a very expensive and embarrassing treat! they are now part of Meydan.... worth a call and if they say yes they take them I would ask for e main confirmation so you have it in writing....

According to the jobs section on here DIA are looking for teachers now - perhaps they could both get jobs quickly here and stay.....although I agree with Tallyho - they need a 2nd opinion in a specialist unit and Dubai does not have this..... <em>edited by Clairehdp on 06/02/2011</em>

Claire, does the Golf Club have a picture of her anywhere...do the grounds crew know what she looks like? golfers...is there anywhere near the kitchen she could be hiding....is the kitchen staff feeding cats at all? if she was seen, others have seen her. Have you done 7 days??? Hi SueB - yes - went to the golf club last week and handed out leaflets. Spoke to the manager and he took some for the ground staff. We have been all around and my DH spoke to the guys in the kitchen in case they've been feeding her but they've not seen here - left more leaflets there last night and loitered in the car park for quite a while later when it was quiet. Thing is - I've found 2 cats who look very much like her in the week she's gone so there are others like her but.....if someone calls me I am in that car like a mad woman to see if it's my Millie.....so far it's not been her but I'm not ready to give up on her..... Every time I go to the golf club I give the guys in the buggies a leaflet so they are keeping their eyes peeled for me.......

BMAP - sounds to me like your husband is in information overload. I can't imagine how we would be able to work everything with 1 car. You can lease a car cheaply here which might be an option. If you get into Greenfields then your best bet would be to live Green Community, Green Community motor city, Arabian Ranches or Victory Height. All of those are easy commute to Internet city - around 20-30 mins depending on time/traffic. It's what we do and its absolutely fine........ I'm like you - I love my journeys to school - it's a good time to chat with the kids about school. work, activities etc. My little boy reads his reading book on the way in every morning so we all get a nice story. You say someone has mentioned something not so great about Greenfields school - if you speak to enough people you'll get negatives about virtually every school - so come over - take a look at the schools and go for it! I agree with CP - you may well be able to get places for April far easier than in September - I think I said this to you before. I know some people who are leaving in April and I have heard of a couple more who have just lost their jobs so may have to leave too - there must be many more and this is when you may well find you get into a great school because you are coming into Dubai and are not already in a school here. Deep breath - I feel sorry for your DH. Get the package confirmed and you'll know whether it's a good thing for you guys to come over or not. Good luck!

One of my most recent jobs has been a nightmare because the wife (no kids) does not drive! She wants to live by a bus stop or the metro, in a quiet villa within walking distance of the shops/gym, short commute for DH and the villa to be furnished to their taste! Errr yes, I am about to send them my invoice......impossible wants and no compromises, even I have had to say enough is enough! BMAP - Glad to have helped someone today! Oooooh nightmare client!

There's no way that you will be able to do this in a week as they now all have to be sent over to Dusseldorf. Use the search button as some people's passports have been delayed because of a problem with the photographs - they are very strict on the photos now. If you search on here there has been alot of recent info on this new procedure. It sounds like you should renew yours to have the maximum number of pages - you pay extra I think but it's worth it as it saves having to renew so often.

How do they think they can stay here with no jobs anyway. I would be out of here as soon as possible - save on the costs here - get the children into a government funded school so they can save their money to pay for whatever care their child needs. Staying in Dubai and fundraising for others to pay seems a very very odd way of dealing with their situation when the best care ever is not here in Dubai. I would leave with my family in a heartbeat if this happended to us.

My little girl saw Dr Marc Sinclair at Medcare - he is lovely. She had an injury that puzzled everyone and one of the things he thought it might be and tested for was Perthes - he explained it to me - I have never heard of it before - it wasn't that and she was treated well and recovered well but hers was not a big problem - I think if I was in the same shoes as these friends I would absolutely take this development as the time to leave Dubai and go to the US. You say the husband is American so surely he knows that the best chance for his little one is to get her treatment in one of the many specialist units in the US. those of us with kids would surely do the same..... Edited to add that she did not have to have an mri - just an xray and she had an ultra sound too to help diagnose why she was limping so badly. <em>edited by Clairehdp on 06/02/2011</em>

Talk to Nikki at Frosted cakes - she was going to do cupcake decorating classes - think that was to include kids parties. I know they are done but not sure if it's her or not. Pizza express at park and shop do do pizza making parties - they are really well organised and the kids love them.

No the mono rail just goes up to Atlantis and back to the car park at the end of the trunk of the Palm. Not sure how many times it stops - can't remember but she could get the monorail and then a taxi but to be perfectly honest it would probably be cheaper to do a taxi all the way. Check with the hotel though I would think there are mall shuttle buses that she could hop on from the hotel.

It's only 11 am and I've already caught up on my e mails. Been out on the hunt for our lost cat. Taken a call of a possible sighting of the cat so dashed out but unfortunately not her. Have replaced the inlet hose on the washing machine as it was leaking everywhere. Have done home made waffles for breakfast, been on here and now we have no water in the villa so have donned my Dewa uniform, called my husband (who is in Europe) for technical support and have found the cause of the problem and sorted that out. Now off to the pool with the kids and then off to the Dubai Pet Show. No wonder I feel tired!!!!!

Yes Claire, I had another look and I was mistakenly thinking that the individual dishes were fusion. Tried to book last night but they were already full so will try them next week. Certo's was lovely though. Service a touch fast but otherwise very nice and the food was very good. Looking forward to Teatro's next week. good to hear that Certos was good.....enjoy Teatro!

I only stop to let them cross if there is no other car in the other lane - too often I've seen people crossing only to be almost mowed down by the car in the outside lane who has no intention of crossing. so here - really the pedestrians do not have the right of way - make a judgement - if it's safe to stop and let them cross do so - if not.... carry on

Clear out your maids room - get the stuff you are storing in there put away somewhere else and instal her in the room that she is supposed to be in - that way - you can have guests and she doesn't have to re-locate every time. If it was me I'd be a bit miffed if I had to move out of my own room to make space for visitors. Just have a big clear out, put some pictures/photos up on the walls and make it nice for her - but give her back the maids room.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking now......they are sometimes called teddy bear cats as they are sooo affectionate. She purrs as soon as you stroke her and was happy to curl up with you and purr her head off. I just hope if someone has her that they feel guilty and do phone me as she had my number on her collar and if her collar has come off I hope they take her to a vet for them to scan so the vet can reunite us.

Sky view bar afternoon tea is imo the best one. Go for the later booking - around 4 and you will be up there for sunset - stunning and a great afternoon tea in amazing surroundings...... Thanks Claire - is that the Sky Tea then? It says 1 - 5pm on the website. If I booked for 4pm would we have to get out for 5pm? Sorry I guess I could ring them but soooo much easier talking to you guys x What is the dress code? x Yes pretty sure it's called sky tea - when you book check that you are definitely in the sky view bar. We usually go at 4 pm and are still there around 6 pm for sunset. Definitely fast as you will be stuffed with the tea! as far as dress code is concerned you can dress up - nice dress, pretty shoes. It's a really lovely experience and one that our guests adore.
