AnonDubai - the CT scan was done long time back in the UK Harley Street and it confirmed it but we then moved out here and he never went to see another doctor, just complaints about it.

My DH has been suffering from Chronic Sinusitus for about 10 years and hasn't found anything yet that would make it better and he isn't too trusting with doctors. Which doctor did you use? Any recommendations? AnonDubai, great news that they found the source of your problem and that you didn't have to go through further tests.

You get a grace period of 10 days, or at least it used to be 10 days so there shouldn't be a problem, but call Amer as edna said.

I used Empost in Al Barsha and had no problems with them. I never opted for the fast service but my friend did and the cheap and cheerful standard service got my things quicker to Europe than my friend's.

I hope this will not take place in the near future. I'm quite happy with the gratuity regulation, pay my private pension and enjoy my salary. Every change lately seems worse than what it initially was. edited by Cleopatra on 13/06/2011

I would send them with Emirates Post. I have never had any problems with them sending stuff. If you want to double up you could always send a save-the-date email letting your guests know that an invitation is on its way.

The really good stable ones are quite expensive seen them in Ace have you looked on Dubbizzle? Maybe best on getting a wooden one if they keep blowing away :D The ones on Dubizzle are no good and the wooden ones seem quite expensive...if I knew that they will withstand the wind fine, but still no guarantee, hence the second-hand option would be preferred. We make customized wooden Gazebos, maybe if you have a specific budget i will be able to help . Having bought 3 so far I don't really want to spend more then 1,5 as my DH will go crazy otherwise. All I wanted was a 3x3m to fit my old canopies over it.

Poor you, I really feel for you and hope you will have the problem under control soon. Out of interest, how much does National Pest charge for this service? Thought of doing it just on a precautionary measure as it seems to be getting more common here.

No it is definitely in Nad Al Sheeba. I had spoken to several people there and even got some kind of direction from 2 people, but when I compared them it didn't match up. edited by Cleopatra on 31/05/2011

I am in the same boat and even though I'm free from like 4pm onwards it's still too late for the gatherings. I think there were some groups that tried to gather at different timings but the turn out was poor so it all stopped again.

I'm not worried if you have men going to have coffee or meetings there, but what concerns me is that anyone can walk in and out freely without being checked. For instance I went there, walked straight through the door, looked around, went upstairs and then came down out again and left the building and not once was I asked if I needed any help or what I was doing there. There should be a system where it gets monitored who comes and goes.

I went to see Dr. Sobeh who is one of the best in town. However, as far as I know it is only the little spider veins that can be injected, the varicose might require different treatment. At least that was my experience. edited by Cleopatra on 30/05/2011

Our 15 months old one eats the same as us. I cook in the evening for my DH and myself and our DS is having the same for lunch the next day. I spice the adult food at the end just after I've taken DS food away. Sometimes, I steam some additional veggies for him just to make it extra healthy.

This must be exciting for you. I generally try and minimize my belongings to a minimum. Just can't stand the packing and unpacking. Out of interested, will you not be moving from one property into the next? Why do you have to place things in storage? You could try and sell some of the not wanted items on dubizzle....if you have a dark wood side-board, I would be interested in ;)

The idea is great but I was disappointed. The box for 2 seems pretty small and definitely wont last for the week. Also had 5 cucumbers in the box which were all mouldy today :(. ...80 AED is now definitely far too much. How does the Souk al Bahar one work and what time is it on? What was in the small box? 6 small/medium potatoes 1 basil plant 5 cucumbers (uae size) 4 Tomatoes approximately 1 small box cherry tomatoes 1 small lettuce 1 onion 4 peppers 1 small root vegetable 1 handful of beans By the time we arrived there were only large boxes available and they split one for us.

Thanks for the advice. I am aware that traveling with a toddler isn't easy but he loves the outdoors and is quite happy to stay still while driving around or looking at animals. We trekked through the rainforest with him on a previous holiday and he snoozed all the way through. What I really wanted to hear was names of hotels and safari companies, as many won't take toddlers.

Just a question might sound silly, but does one remove VAricose veins only for cosmetic reasons or is there a medical reason why they should be removed? Varicose veins get removed for medical reasons as they do more harm than good to your body. In addition they can be quite painful. After I had them removed I manage to sleep again without being woken up because the vein was itchy or my whole leg being crampy.

La Veranda is an outdoor italian restaurant by the beach. They serve excellent pizzas (even with pork) and not expensive at all. It's perfect if you go with kids since they can play on the beach. Vouchers are in the Entertainer as well. If they just have outside seating do they have some kind of air-conditioning?

I had my treatment done by Dr. Sobeh and was very happy with it. The veins look good now, but I still have a tingle around my ankles. Apparently this can last a couple of months and depends on the individual. I haven't been doing any extensive exercise yet, but have no problems doing my day to day stuff. The scans are extensive and thorough and it takes about 45 minutes to an hour. I had two so far one before the treatment and one after neither of which were done by Dr. Sobeh, however after each scan I had a chat about it with the doctor. So all in all I'm very happy with the outcome and shall go back for further treatment...soon I will have legs like a model or so I hope ;)

Beachcombers is nice and has lovely views of Burj Al Arab... Although its getting a bit warm to sit outside. My favourite is Go West. Food and staff are lovely, fun atmosphere...And the kids love sitting in the "Wagons".. Both in Entertainer. I've never even heard of Go West...is it also suitable for a bunch of grown ups without any children?

A 'Pret a Manger' would be fabulous in Dxb. I tried to take up a franchise with them, but they don't do franchise. Was told that their bosses want to expand themselves and Dubai was not on the list as yet - this was about 2 years ago :(

When is the greed finally going to stop. The airline prices are going up due to the rise of oil price, but haven't Shell just announced a 60% profit? So are the prices only going up to give some lucky ones a good bonus? This is seriously something that should be looked into.

Dubai needs: better wages and accommodation for labourers cheaper food prices more stringent laws relating to driving better water supply beter import of fresh food - salads etc more cheap or free activites for children during summer affordable pool beach / clubs that aren't associated with expensive 5* hotels taxi drivers that don't stink and who don't try to kill you tescos / sainsburys or asda cheaper prices relating to clothes more job-share / part time work for mothers discrimination laws relating to sexism, ageism etc in the workplace mother and child parking spaces passing a law that makes it illegal to hawk up a greenie on the street make it a a law that you must stop at a zebra crossing make it illegal for gardners to ride their bicycles, pulling a lawnmower on the wrong side of the road cleaner beaches Not allowing entrance visas to the Wiggles oh the list could go on... Willamina, this sounds like you want Dubai to be the next Europe. If every place was the same what would be the point in moving countries.

Sorry -- just an observation! -- but that's a different scheme to Oz, where if your goods are being sent to an overseas address, a lot of purchasing programs/systems will 'drop' the GST [aka VAT'> from your purchase before you pay. Pity. I know that, that's why I'm questioning it. If I buy stuff of other online providers it get's deducted but this one wouldn't so I was hoping that there is a way to get it back.

Indoor sports center with a walking/running track, cricket, football etc as well as a great cafe and creche Mmm ... and indoor tennis [and squash!'> courts! I'd love to join a tennis league which could operate ALL year round with competitions etc. :) Ohh and in fact, how about multi-purpose indoor sports places so that people can play netball as well? That would be fantastic. There is an indoor tennis court in Al Quoz, but can't remember the name now and there are also indoor sport facilities. If you want to play in a league there is something called duplays, who offer many different types of team sports played indoors. Netball, dodgeball etc. Unfortunately I have never found the time to commit, but for those of you who have the time I think it's a good option. And two big thumbs up to the creche/cafe attached. It could be a fantastic way to get people to play sport and socialise at the same time. :)

I installed a fence which actually looked really nice - white powdercoated aluminium, 4ft high, very strong & impossible to climb. Once my LO's were confident swimmers I removed it - what sort of area do you need to fence in? I would be willing to sell :) I'm just facing the same problem and am looking for a nice option as my DH isn't too keen on a fence or a net and just says we have to be careful. The pool is one of the smaller ones and I would definitely be interested. Could you let me have more details on missbabsi at gmail dot com :)
