Do you mean FROM the 7s before the weekend? If not, the sports shop next to Ski Dubai usually has jerseys in their rugby section.

There will certainly be people there in fancy dress, but it is by no means the 'dress code'. Just a bit of fun if you like. I wouldn't say 'smart' was the way to go AT ALL. Shorts/flip flops is more like it. Enjoy!

We don't have a pool in the garden, but it is fully grassed. Sprinklers on twice a day but thankfully our LL installed a borehole for watering. I would have to ask DH about how dewa is split (that's a blue job in our house and I am blissfully ignorant!)

not expensive...but very far ...in the desert,....:( for this reason they are cheap This is an Urban Myth! I actually find it very central in a funny way. Easy access onto Emirates Road or Al Khail, 15 mins to MCC, 15 mins to DM or Trade Centre, 25 mins to MoE. In response to BH, our A/Cs are central. We don't pay separate service fees in addition to our rent. As for DEWA, I think we average 2-3k a month

Usually the bride's parents (or the bride) pays for everything associated with the wedding: Wedding dress Brides maid/witness dresses and accessories Reception etc Groom's parents (or the groom) pays for: Flowers Cars Gifts for the wedding party (including the brides maids or witnesses) Marriage contract, Nikah (or church and priest) Contract money for bride This was in my day but maybe with "progress" things have changed. I do expect to pay for less for my sons and a lot for my daughter when they marry. I think with people getting married later in life and more 2nd marriages (after one party is divorced), the traditional way wedding finances were handled has progressed. Personally, I didn't want the 'traditional way' because I felt it gave other people too much control! Sorry to side step the original question! I think anything goes these days. Whatever suits the individual couple and their circumstances.

I understand it's pretty common from my recent following on bridal forums. (which having just been a bride myself is extensive to say the least!!) However, it usually comes under the agreement that the bridesmaid has more say in choosing the gown. Personally, I wouldn't dream of asking bm's to cough up for the dress but I guess some brides just aren't in the financial position to pay for them (especially if there are several bridesmaids) Maybe that's why there's so many on Ebay!

I was going to have lessons before my wedding but we just ran out of time in the end. So I can't personally recommend them from attending a class (private or group) but I can say that they were good at communicating, sending emails, answering my questions etc. I'm still keen to learn, so once things have calmed down I may still drag my DH there for the lessons we never got round to prior to the wedding!

I watched this film on a flight and thought it was fantastic. I was absolutely glued to the end. However, like others said, it's stayed with me and really made me think. Everyone 'thinks' they will have lovely babies who grow into lovely children and beyond. BUT what if you don't? It's terrified me actually, as someone who doesn't have children yet. Thought provoking stuff indeed.

We are thinking of doing exactly the same, as all our family are back in the UK. After a load of work related stress we can't afford to go there and none of them can afford to come here. No offence to those of you with children, but we would love somewhere reasonably child free. Sorry :( Maybe we should have a 'couples with no children/Christmas lunch' thread !!!! (apologies in advance, just being michievious!) :) I feel the same! Please don't shoot me down in flames, but I seriously would love to go somewhere without kids. I honestly don't have a problem with families going out, but just for this once, would prefer not. :)I feel the same! edited by coffee_mate on 20/11/2012

Please Mods, can you do this?! I've just spent over an hour trying to compile a list of possible places for Christmas dinner. I've literally trawlled the Internet searching on every hotel/restaurant website I can think of! It would be great to have all the info in one place. I guess Time Out will do a feature, but we're racing towards the 'Big Day' and I've not seen anything from them yet (unless I've missed it! If not, I think they are leaving it a bit late!) This week's Time-Out has a list of 28 Christmas brunches to book now.... surely all the best places have been fully booked for ages already - aren't you leaving it a bit late ? Totally agree! But there is only 2 of us so keeping fingers crossed I can find a little space somewhere We usually stay in, but I don't fancy cooking this year. Great, will grab a copy of Time Out this week. Thanks :)

We recently had the outlaws over. And FIL is on lots of different medication. Didn't want to worry MIL so said nothing and all was fine. She always puts his medication in those "Take for a week" tubs anyway. What if it wasn't 'all fine'?!! Surely she had a prescription and letter from the doctor with her?

I thought about doing this for my FIL as he also has the badge in UK. However, the minute they started talking about attesting things I changed my mind! That was one stress MIL didn't need on top of everything else. Obviously I don't know how mobile your FIL is, but with mine, we found it no problem to 'unload' him at the door and put him in his wheelchair, then go off to park the car. (if we were going to a mall for example). There is a link with some info on the RTA site. Maybe worth contacting them as well.

thats awesome.... ill definetely get one... how much is it and where did you buy it from? please tell me its in the UAE..... also how much weight did you lose using this? edited by miss stranger on 13/11/2012 You can get it here, but mine was given as a present so I don't know the exact cost. I think it was purchased from Carrefour for around AED 900. As for the weight issue, I don't really know as we have had guests I haven't juiced religiously. I will when they have gone though! For me, it's not so much about loosing weight (although that would be a nice side effect!) I'm more interested in the health benefits of getting the extracted vitamins and minerals into my system as fast as possible.

Hi coffee mate. Sorry to hear about your nightmare and hope your FIL is ok now. Thanks for the advice... This isn't an easy process! Any other suggestions / advice welcome! Thanks MK. Just to update you on this, the company from where the policy was purchased has turned out to be ok in the end. FIL is out of hospital now and insurance have arranged a BC upgrade for their flight home, along with transport to their house on arrival at LHR (which is 2 hours away) The problem seems to be that there were too many links in the chain when trying to get admitted/approval at the hospital. Because the company are not in the UAE, they have to use another company on their behalf. Maybe worth trying them for a quote as they were one of very few who would consider FIL www.mapfreassistance.ie

Buy a juicer and download Jason Vale's apps. Much cheaper. I had a look at your link, and it's very similar to Jason's juices! i bought a juicer just yesterday from Spinneys. turned out its complicated and it will take you 30 minutes to wash every part once your done. so decided to pack it up and store it with all the other useless things i often buy :'( Do you know any juicer that is quick and easy to clean? Philips Avance is fantastic. Quick and easy to use and clean. I literally rinse it out after use. Takes one minute, max! edited by coffee_mate on 13/11/2012

Thanks - does that mean anyone can use it? I just emailed my insurance company and they say I'm not covered for Rashid and I saw someone posted saying their father in law wasn't able to be treated there because his insurance doesn't cover it. I just cant' seem to get straight answers from my insurance company when I ask where I would go in an emergency like an A&E in UK or an ER in USA. We're not covered for City Hospital - appear to only be covered for Emirates Hospital, Jebel Ali, Medcare or Welcare. I'm guessing all 3 have A&E facilities? Just wanted to add...Had there of been a bed available in Rashid Hospital, we would have probably paid to leave him there. Even though the insurance company said RH wasn't one of their hospitals, their prices were not extortionate anyway. We would have happily paid. I know that defeats the point of insurance though! Credit to Rashid Trauma Centre - he was in almost 24 hours and the only thing we were charged for was radiographs. AED 50 and that was only because we wanted an additional copy for the next hospital.

Experiencing this at the moment unfortunately... FIL had a fall, broken hip and was automatically taken to Rashid Hospital Trauma Centre by the ambulance. They were very thorough and the nurses brilliant. However, the insurance company said he wasn't covered to be there and there were no beds available in RH anyway. So after many hours of phone calls to the insurance company, he was finally tranferred to City Hospital last night. Like you, only a couple of companies would cover him. Unfortunately, although we got there in the end, it has been a complete nightmare. Heaven forbid, if it was something life threatening, I would fear the worst because it literally took the insurance company hours and hours to pass approval for payment guarantee. Without that, City Hospital would not admit. Whichever company you deal with, make sure you know in advance where he can be taken and exactly what is covered.

Wish the things were illegal here in the UK. You get muppets setting the things off for weeks before the 5th of November and messing about with them to the terror of elderly people and pets. Bah humbug LOL!! I will never forget being 8 years old in hospital for a minor op. The poor boy in the bed next to me had half his face blown off by a firework. Yes, they are pretty but I'd urge anyone not to let them off at home. It's safer to go to an organised event (here or anywhere for that matter)
