2 pregnancies- 2 very different experiences. The first was great. So much so, there was no question in my mind who I wanted when I discovered K was pregnant with my second child. I had an issue that I was very stressful to me - hemhorroids. She was very uncaring and dismissive. Only referred me to a surgeon outside of city hospital. I asked for another referral at CH to be seen sooner and she said no, she couldn't refer me to anyone else. (Really? No one in City Hospital?!) I was starting to feel a distinct lack of care and compassion by this point so moved hospital and dr. Fast forward and I went into labour early...at the new hospital it was discovered I had previously tested positive for GBS. City knew this as it was in my lab results. No one told me! Not dr B or her nurse. To my mind that is quite negligent. I feel that since becoming HOD she's far too busy and has too many patients. I'm glad I switched to someone else. I wrote her an email explaining I was moving hospital... to this day she has nover replied to even acknowledge it. Says it all to me

Dr Salma is absolutely, 100% the most amazing obstetrician ever. I thought I had 'the best' first time round but my experience with Salma (2nd delivery) was one of the best of my life. I will cherish my birthing and pregnancy experience with her. Totally respected my wishes and she made sure ingot the birth I wanted. You would be in very safe hands

There is no 'best' insurance plan. It will depend on many different factors are are unique to you and your family and circumstances, and of course, ultimately, your budget. Are you looking for local or international cover? Company coverage is very different to personal policies so don't compare them. Your best option is to contact a broker who can take all your factors into consideration and explore the market. It costs you no more and saves you the hassle of doing all the research.

Firstly, don't stress! Flying with a newborn is the easiest age, so try to relax as the stressful flights will come later! At such a young age, I'd stick with the baby carrier/sling. I got the Babyzen Yoyo when my LO was about 7 months old. From that age onwards, I wouldn't dream of flying without it! I still use it now and LO is 22 months old. It's expensive but worth every single dirham. Until then, the sling was perfectly fine and meant one less thing to carry. Pack your hand luggage and baby stuff in a back pack and put baby in sling and you're 'hands free'. (I used a 'Ring Sling' and yes, you can breastfeed wearing it although once seated on the plane I took the sling off and just fed using a nursing cover. That way you don't have to keep faffing about taking the sling/carrier on and off) Breast feed on take off, landing, and remember if it's turbulent you'll have to take the baby out of the bassinet anyway. If you use a dummy/pacifier, make sure you have a few to hand as well. You'l probably find at only 6 week, the baby will sleep most of the way anyway. Good luck!

We went to Phuket when Son was 6 months old and it was fabulous. Direct flight on Emirates. We stayed at Anantara Villas which were fantastic. The hotel provided everything we needed for an infant (high chair, cot, bath, products, etc) there was even an Inroom dining menu for infants! Plus each villa has its own pool which was ideal. Highly recommend it. ETA.. To get around we hired a car and driver from the hotel (for the day) this enabled us to ensure or son was always strapped into his car seat but we could leave it in the car (unlike if we'd have used taxis)

Ha, ok, that's different, sorry for my snide comment! City did the same type of thing when Dr Elsa left - kept insisting she was coming back but they couldn't schedule any appointments for her, etc. What a pain, they should just be honest. The best doctor I've found in Dubai is Dr George. His office is in the building to the left of City (the one with the Costa inside). She is back now- I saw her this week

Wow, really? I've never been questioned apart from the cabin crew wanting to see the 'airline approved' sticker on the bottom. I've used virgin Atlantic and Emirates frequently but maybe other airlines have different policy. Best to check in their website. It's usually detailed in the 'travelling with children' section

Get yourself a Britax Eclipse car seat. It's airline approved and I sit my son in it on the flight (he's 18 months old). Works a charm plus he's safely strapped in for the flight. It's relatively light weight at 7kg and slimline. I bought it in the UK for £60, therefore much cheaper than renting one from the car hire company

Has anyone dealt with Dr. Azizunissa Shaikh in City Hospital. i am currenttly 29 weeks and i didnt find her at all having personal touch. What are your reviews? Regards, Sidra No experience of her, but I'd say go with your gut. If I didn't feel 100% comfortable with my doctor, I'd switch. Have you seen her more than once? Do you feel like that every time?

Dr George Michailidis has his own clinic called Genesis Perinatal Care Clinic. It's just beside City Hospital but is 'pay and claim'. I saw him for my scans and he is indeed excellent. He delivers at City Hospital. For direct billing at City Hospital I had Dr Britt Clausson and would return to her for my second in a heart beat. I had exactly the birth I wanted - we'd discussed all in advance and she was supportive of my desires - no drugs, minimal interventions (unless of course I changed my mind on the day. I didn't and all went well!) Hope that helps and good luck!

I live in DSO Cedre Villas and there is NO WAY I would consider a commute that far, everyday for my DS (or myself come to that. The thought of that drive twice a day would soon become a major chore). You could probably get a larger apartment in DSO for the money the company would be spending on The Palm.

Unless things have changed recently, she will not be granted a licence to practice as a Midwife without post graduate, full time experience (minimum of one year I think). Best check with DHA or HAAD for licensing regulations.

Raja Haqqi is a consultant and used to be a head of obs & gyn department in Dubai Hospital. Also she was a professor in medical school in Dubai. She is well known of managing the very complicated cases. She is a lovely woman. Apologies if i posted incorrectly. It does say 'Specialist' on City Hospital's website. edited by coffee_mate on 15/02/2015

I was with Dr Britt and cannot speak more highly of her. She was the perfect fit for me and my pregnancy. If number 2 comes along I will be making a beeline to her door and wouldn't even consider anyone else for a second. I had planned to have a few appointments with different Dr's then make my decision. Dr Britt was first on the list and I never bothered trying anyone else!

I delivered at City and hadn't heard of Dr Raja Haqqi, however I've just looked on the hospital website and that's probably because it looks like she's actually based in Mediclinic Al Sufouh. She's also a Specialist, not Consultant level. Personally I would stick to a Consultant if you were recommended Dr Elsa. There are others at City. I had Dr Britt Clausson for example who was fabulous

I have it but use it as part of the Stokke travel system. I believe the salesman is wrong - it states on the Besafe website that the iZi Go is compatible with many strollers (although you may need Maxi cosi adapters to do so). Try Just Kidding for advice. I find their sales people much more knowledgable on the products they are selling.

I was showing in Saudi German. It's a good hospital for consultation but am not sure about the delivery there. My insurance covers almost all hospitals except government hospitals. But I can apply for reimbursement. If you don't mind can I know how much did it cost you in city as my insurance wil cover upto 20000 of which 4000 have been used in consultations so far as I was showing in Saudi German so am left with 16 I'm not 100% sure as all my care to date has been under direct billing. However, I think the delivery itself was 12500 (natural, no medicated pain relief). If you contact them they can give you a booklet explaining all the costs and options

Who is your Dr? Where does he/she deliver? Does your insurance cover you at all hospitals? I am currently in City Hospital having delivered on Monday. I can only say positive things. The hospital and all staff have been great and if I need to choose a hospital again for any future babies, I won't hesitate to return.

Do you know what you're looking for? I.e big, small, 4 or 2 door, Japanese, European makes, age?Check Dubizzle for an idea of the second hand market and take it from there. AED100k would not get you a Range Rover or Land Cruiser, but would put you in the market for a Pajero, for example. Good luck!

Mamas and Papas sell nice one-piece maternity swimsuits. I have one and it's really nice to wear post-pregnancy as well :) Can you please tell me which mall was that? In Dubai Marina mall, there wasn't anything. Thanks I saw some full swimsuit and the tankini style at Mamas & Papas in the Dubai Mall branch a couple of weeks ago. Some were even reduced to AED 40!

I can highly recommend Dr Mitchell, as some of you might guess ;) Now I am intrigued. Who is this Mitchell. Is his clinic related to Dr Michael on Al Wasl road? I do go to Dr Michaels dental clinic, as I find them trustworthy and professional, I know they aren't cheap, but I have been to a really bad dentist here in Dubai, I mean at least they will not make up diagnosis I don't have. .. No, there is no connection between the two

I totally agree with waitwhat! 5150X - I've just had a shoot with the company you mention and have been quite satisfied. Did you not look on their website before going ahead to see how their tarif was set up? I don't think they've done anything wrong. All pricing info is freely available online. Of course you can't just download the images. Until you pay for them, the company owns them. They have various packages available if you don't want to pay 5000 for 40 images.

Hi ladies, Glad to find this thread! I am also due in February with my 3rd. We have only moved to dubai two weeks ago,, so trying to get my kids & house sorted first, now it's the turn of the bump. As i had my last two in the uk on the NHS, I really have no idea what to look for here. My pregnancies have been easy enough, but difficult deliveries. I am trying to get recommendations of where to go, but so far no two have said the same place/dr. I really am not fussy if it's male or female, just experienced and I trust. Any tips?! X Congrats and welcome! First off, do you have insurance or will you be self paying? If insurance, check your policy and find out which hospitals you are covered to give birth in. That will lead you onto which doctors deliver in those hospitals so you can start to make a shortlist. If you are self paying, perhaps start by researching the prices of packages at various hospitals. They can vary greatly. Where do you live? The proximity to the hospital/doctor might lead you to one establishment over another for example. I am seeing Dr Britt at City Hospital and I chose her after reading reviews - she's pro natural, worked in UK for many years, follows UK schedule. She was the first doctor I consulted with and luckily just 'clicked' so I never considered anyone else. My insurance also covers City Hospital, so no issues there and it's the closest hospital to where I live. My advice would be to consult with maybe 2-3 (unless you hit lucky first time like I did!) and choose who you feel most comfortable with. I notice you said you don't mind male or female - DR George at Genesis is wonderful and I wouldn't hesitate in seeing him either (also delivers at CH but has his own clinic.) Good luck

Personally, I felt it was too far for me and I'm in DSO. Instead I chose City Hospital with a CH based Dr. Keep in mind that towards the end of the pregnancy you could possibly be having weekly check ups as well, so could be doing that journey a fair bit.

Yep, no changes... Infact my brother is doing it right now! He said it's about AED50. And don't forget to add Oman car insurance if it's not already on the vehicle you're travelling in edited by coffee_mate on 03/09/2014 Unless this has changed recently or you want to spend some time in Oman you don't need insurance for a visa run, although companies are happy to sell it. Hubby was doing runs for a few months when we got here and did it the first time and the border guards(not sure what they are called) said it wasn't required for just a visa run. I personally wouldn't risk it. What if you did have a bump in that little bit of Oman, who would pay?Unlikely I know, but.... Just some feedback from bro today. He said it was very busy (even though he went early) because they are using the new boarder gates. Bit chaotic as no one seemed to know where to go!

I preferred to do mine at the hospital I will be delivering at -City Hospital. You can either do the weekly classes, or once a month they run a full day course. I opted for the day course. I think it was AED1200. I think I was 32 weeks on the day and most women were around the same. I believe if you opt for the weekly sessions, they suggest around 26 weeks

If you're really taking it seriously, masticating juicers are supposed to be the best but cost a lot more. Personally I find the Philips one does the job and veggie juices are delicious as long as you include a piece of fruit such as pineapple or apple to sweeten. Nutri Bullet is also meant to be good and I saw it in Ace Hardware at the weekend

You are very organised! Your travel plans are already finalised for Christmas! edited by AnonDubai on 31/08/2014 I haven't booked the flights yet but we'll have a 3 month old baby by Christmas, so I'm trying to get all my ducks are in a row asap (well, as much as possible!) You can book the flights now and add on the infant ticket later. Yes, I need to stop 'daily fare tracking' and actually book it!
