Just remove the yolk from the egg and freeze the yolk. freezes really well and then take it out to brush over pastry and pies or make a custard or mayonnaise/ hollandaise. I freeze them individually. I had never considered that until I started watching Nigella :) I can't believe for years I would ditch the yolks/whites I wasn't using without a thought! For those of you that just buy the whites, are they ridiculously expensive? I saw some for like 35 dhs, for a pint! eesh! Yes, I found 'Two Chicks' very expensive. Was going through a 'fad' of egg white omlettes (yuk) so I bought it. Haven't bothered since and if I need egg whites only, would use the more traditional method (far cheaper!!)

Or have your husband lay down the law to her if you can't. She hasn't got a legal leg to stand on, so why is she involving the police? I'm sure they have better things to do with their time

What do you not understand about shop'n'ship? They assign you a UK address which then automatically gets shipped here. is it your own UK address? will goods go to your place? am i sounding silly? :) its basically a PO Box in their warehouse. Pretty much. It gets delivered to Aramex House in Slough (to your unique number)

They assign you an address in the UK (think P.O Box). M&S deliver your order to it, then S&S collect it and send it to you in Dubai.

x hi coffee mate i got this info on my mind ever since i read it :) i was thinking to go there and try it too! as 600dhs is a rip off,ive tried falsies few months back and it lasted for about a month i got tons of complement on it but it was just about 80dhs if im gonna convert as i did it back home.when are you going?we can go together tho. ;) You know, for AED150, I'm prepared to give it a shot! If it doesn't work out very well then I'll try Sisters. If it does, I've saved a load of cash (with which, I can then get Dynamic Brows done! ) :)

x I go to Authentic Angels in Karama. AED150 for initial lashes then 75 or 100 for refills and they are really good. You can pick your length and thickness. It takes about 90mins to apply and last about 3 weeks of you don't put mascara/eyeliner all over them (as they clump and fall out). I don't wash face with water but use facewipes around the area as not to get them wet. You can swim with goggles but wouldn't advise putting face in water as they can come loose more easily. They also do good cheap waxing and mani pedis. It's behind Day to day supermarket in Karama Wow, that is much more purse friendly! Are they really ok? I mean AED 150-600 is a big difference. Glad I saw this. I was just about to book in at Sisters, but now not sure what to do!

My only complaint with SC is that they call me up ALL THE TIME. . They are incompetent to say the least - they still think that i work at company A even though that visa has expired three times over, have given them visas B&C..... sick of telling them so now when they ask i just say yes.... Also i stopped my salary transfer 18 months ago and they still haven't worked it out, even thou i have a salary loan with them.... Bless I must just be lucky then!

My only complaint with SC is that they call me up ALL THE TIME. To the point that if I know it's them I don't answer. Always trying to push other products, services etc. Drives me insane. Apart from that, I've had no issues. Emirates NBD - yes they did block my card when I was travelling, but I accepted that as my fault as I forgot to inform them. To their credit, they were hot on the case. I'd just made a large purchase (wedding dress shop) and they called me immediately. Comforting to know IF someone had tried to use my card.

I think it's pot luck. You may have no issues. Or if they X-ray and open your bags it could be a little awkward! Probably depends on what customs officer you get on the day! Good luck!

First I think as the step-mum that you should keep out of this as this is your husband's situation to deal with I have to agree with this from personal experience. I sort of have a 'step mum' and if she says one slight word against me or my siblings, its a like a red rag to a bull to my mother, who had branded her as 'interferring'. And I'm far older than 8 years old, but still emotions run deep.

I am also planning my Son's blessing on a beach in Dubai in March 2013. I've phoned most of the beach hotels and sometimes had a heart attack on the 'minimum spend' of AED 75,000. That's crazy. Would you be so kind as to send me your venues list and prices too coffee-mate and Elle. Elle, my son got married last uear in Mongolia, with the Mongoloan family. This would be the blessing with the big white-wedding-lookalike. Would your husband be able to officiate? When we find their dream beach venue. P.s. my daughter got married at the Creek Golf Club, next to the Park Hyatt and it was amazing and incredibly reasonable. Thanks. Hi ShellFC, mine is being held at the Park Hyatt, so can't help with the beach I'm afraid. Luckily, my OH and I are not 'beachy' people and I couldn't think of anything worse than sand in my wedding dress! hahahaa. However, I agree with what you're finding. All Jumeirah properties pretty much had a minimum 75,000 spend. Just of the top of my head, have you tried Dubai Marine Beach Resort & Spa? Being older and not part of a huge chain (correct me if I'm wrong) they might be more flexible/reasonable for your needs? Just a thought.

OP, you mentioned transport. I can't help with the guests, but I've booked a Rolls Royce Phantom for my transport to and from JA Church (plus a 7 series for my maid/mum) The company is called Connection Chauffeur and gave me the best quote by far.

Sorry to hear you are unhappy. Have you read through this: http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_weddings.aspx It gives a lot of information on weddings. I'm arranging mine here at the minute, but it's not a 'mixed marriage', so I can't really help on that. Would finding another job help? Hope you find a solution.

Thanks for your answers. I mean a nanny to look after my baby but I would like her to clean as well. I will ask her tonight if she's on a one year or two year visa, I just presumed one year but hopefully I am wrong. I'm still new to this! I don't understand the difference between a nanny and a maid's visa. I presume nanny means looking after kids + cleaning, and maid just means cleaning?? She does look after children so she must have a nanny visa. If this is the case and her two year's is up this November, what is the process? That's not how I understand it - although there are others more qualified to comment. I understand a nanny to be a professionally qualified person in childcare and may hold membership to organisations such as the INA. This will cost you a great deal more than a maid who looks after the children and cleans. These are generally not professionally qualified people. I think from the sounds of it, you are looking for a maid (which is far more common here)

Nanny or maid? 'Nanny' would suggest she is qualified as such, and therefore maybe subject to different rules.

bump from me too, I'm interested to as I've never used them before and thought I might try a 'cheap' pair to start off with I did this as I wasn't sure about spending so much on GHD's. However I was lucky enough to get a pair from Santa Claus! The difference between my GHD's and the cheap ones is MASSIVE. I kind of regret buying the first ones now. If you can save up for better ones, do so

If you do a search, you will get mixed reviews on satwa. Personally, I needed to see it and try on before hand if that makes sense, so I bought. Agree with desert rose - Pronovia's Dubai Mall has awful staff with an awful attitude. (just my opinion and experience of course, but seems to be the norm!)

I emailed them asking for a price list. They rang me back saying they can't send me one because 'it depends'. They were very keen for me to book a 'free consultation' though. I declined. All they would tell me was the price of their bridal packages which are 3-5k. Again, 'it depends'. Would be interested to hear feedback from anyone who uses them

Yes, I have this insurance. I would not recommend a policy with them. I, too, got this policy through a broker, and I bitterly regret it. I had to get another policy on top of this one, because the NOW policy didn't seem to cover anything I needed, and there is a $100 fee that I have to pay every time I visit the doctor. The broker failed to mention this beforehand. If it's the same brokers (I won't name them) I have a feeling they go with whichever provider offers them the highest commission. Steer clear. So it's the broker who is miss selling, you should expose them in my opinion so the buyer CAN beware

Chocs.... are you talking about being Muslim ? well...yes, thats a problem.... but has other ramifications..... others should be no problem....or what are you refering to ? There are 'others' that will struggle (not only Muslims). Read the what paperwork is required and you'll see what I mean...

Agree with Redlesley - it was more like 10:45pm when she came on stage. Was anyone there for the shambles that was 'doors open at 7pm?' We were, quite close to the front in the general admission area. There was a fence to keep people away from the proper entrance, so as it started filling up it was obviously becoming a bit of a squish. Anyway, by 7:30pm doors still not open. It seems that they realised the fence was actually 'fixed' and couldn't be opened. Lots of workmen appeared in hard hats looking puzzled. in the end, one end of the fencing was opened and thus a MASSIVE rush and push to get to it. It was very dangerous and extremely poorly organised. I said to my friend at one point they could have another Hillsbrough disaster on there hands here. It was actually quite frightening. My friends and I all got separated in the stampeed. It's some of the little kids I was concerned for getting trampled on. And of course, after waiting for so long in the heat, we witnessed several 'altercations'

You have to take into account the tax laws in the UK, finding and renting a property. Nursery or childcare for your child ( dependant upon age) and this is free to UK residents There are so many factors to consider. Uk is cheaper than Dubai for certain things like internet, food and clothes/toiletries etc other items are more expensive such as petrol and childcare Thanks a lot Louisedvs, quite surprised on your reply that UK is more cheap than Dubai? It's a plus factor for me to consider the offer then, however, thinking of the taxes! -( As louisedvs said, Only SOME things are cheaper

I tried the costume shop and not only do I begrudge spending 90 on king costume he'll never wear again but the smallest size they have is still too big. Hence the idea of just making a cape as I managed to get hold of a crown. Thought some velvety red/burgundy material with a fur trim would be the ideal regal accompaniment. As for Satwa, I thought that would be the place, hence the request for shop names as I have never been before. Do Fida do material as well? Or will I just have to look in a couple of shops nearby for that? Sorry for extra questions but as I said, DS2 hates the heat and as he's only just recovering from an illness I don't want to subject him to it too much if I can help it. Thanks again! I'm sure I have seen a few rolls of stuff like fur, netting, etc in Fida. If not, a few of the shops that surround it will do. You can actually see some of them have their wares on the outside of the shop on the street, so you may spot what you need without having to get out of the car if you're lucky!

I would be heading down to Satwa. The shop called 'Fida' or any of the shops around that area. There is paid parking infront of the shops, so hopefully you won't get too sweaty if you can park close!
