I was so pleased to see this post as will be moving our little girl after the summer. We have a lovely king size bed in her room which she is already used to as she lies down there before bed and rolls around etc. However, I was/a worried if a big bed is ok for her.....also how do you manage the sleeping bag to duvet and pillow transition. Am I being paranoid worrying about her smothering herself?? Like any first time mum its all new to me and I want to do the right thing too. So any advice welcomed please. Thanks! Oh and so sorry for hi-jacking the thread!xx

I need to arrange for myself and my daughter to now be sponsored by my husband who is on a Dubai Silicon Oasis visa. Unfortunately his company does not have a pro to help us. Does anyone know if this process will be easy to handle myself or if there is an agent I can contact to assist? Thanks.

Rockabye. I saw this post a while ago and meant to reply. Sorry! Anyway I wanted to tell you that I have cousins who are only children and are very happy well adjusted people. My best friend is an only child and says she wouldn't have it any other way as she had a great life and the best that any parents could give her. I am sure your little one will be just fine and I also think that nowadays only children are way more common aren't they? Hope you're feeling better and a little more assured. Good luck ?

We are hoping to employ a maid who has been coming to us from an agency for the last few years. However she is 7 years into her contract which is due to end next September. Whilst we are happy to cover any losses (bonus/end of service etc) she would lose by coming to us from them we understand that she may face a ban. I have been told that we may be able to lift the ban by paying a fee of 5500/6000...this is fine but I have no idea if this is the case for sure and also how I can do this. Any advice on what to do in this situation please? Thank you!

Hi We are about to start our search for a helper and are ideally looking for a live out Sri Lankan lady Sunday to Thursday with perhaps the odd baby sitting session one weekend a month for a few hours. Could anyone please give me some guidance on salary. Thank you very much.

After a very frustrating time with hugzbabystore.ie we ended up going to buy it at JK. All I would say is yes, it is too expensive there but it is a great stroller system (we are delighted with it) and you should under NO circumstances use hugzbabystore. I paid for mine and everything and never got it and took for ever to get a reslution in terms of refund (and didnt get the whole amount due to 'admin issues'). Good luck!

Hi Spinnaker Very best of luck to you. I have cycled at both Fakih and Conceive and had BFP's at both. It is very much a personal experience. I could honetly not say that one was better or worse than the other though as it really is swings and roundabouts. I have a friend who was also very happy with DGFC. Regarding freezing embryos, as Mummabear says the law does change a lot around this and also you may find it differs from Dubai to Sharjah so check with Conceive too. I have frozen at both on different occasions (law permitting at the time). Oh and the Doctor at Conceive who operates out of Dubai Mall is either Dr Munira or Munara I think. Very best of luck to you. It's a rollercoaster of a ride and I hope you have a successful result. xx edited by confusion on 28/07/2013

Hi Tashabegood This is really a personal choice but I have been in your position twice and each time have gone for another cycle straight away as I just felt I was wasting time and opportunity if not. For me it was beneficial as I managed to bank some frosties. I also find that the waiting game of when you can next take action with something is unberable so it gave me a feeling that I was doing my absolute best to try and make things work. Very best of luck to you xxx

I am so sorry Cosmogirl. I have been there 3 times and I feel the extreme pain you are going through. For me, things happened naturally and personally, I wouldn't have chosen any other way. It's awful that we have to 'choose' in just a terrible circumstance. I hope things improve for you and have faith in the fact that this little angel will one day be looking down on the baby/babies you have and smiling. Hugs to you! xxx

Your friend has a baby on the way, and therefore (in my opinion) is of of the luckiest women alive. And to throw in the fact that she is now open to find someone to love them both, they way every child deserves to be loved .... Just makes her even luckier. This man does not deserve a second thought. Blood does not make you a parent, love does. Look for the silver lining. A fresh start, and a new unconditional love is entering her life. She got to sun her beautiful belly on the beach with a great friend. She has the luxury of choosing another sun lounger if she chooses. She can afford to fly with her belongings back to a country that will accept and welcome her back. Wow.. What a lucky lady! Im reminded of a quote "Smile every chance you get. Not because life has been easy, perfect, or exactly as you had anticipated, but because you choose to be happy and grateful for all the good things you do have and all the problems you know you don’t have." So true flydiver11. I've felt so let down of late and almost lost my faith in humanity amongst so called friends but I focus on what I DO have and how lucky I really am. It's easy to lose focus when it feels like everything is tumbling down around you and far too easy to say 'why me?' Or indeed 'why not me?' but that's just a downward spiral. I still try and think..always be a little kinder than necessary. .what goes around really does come around but we just cant control the timing. Good luck to your friend and her little treasure xx

Hello! very sorry for the late reply. Well all is done and last week we let our lovely boy out and waited for the mad run and...he stayed within the garden lol! Anyway, he became a little braver as the week went on but it seems (thankfully) that he is very happy in the garden and the immediate vicinity. HOWEVER, we had a real shock yesterday morning....he went out at 830 on Friday night and we were sitting in the garden so thought he would come in with us when we went in as usual...he did not! We eventually went to bed after lots of calling and looking. I got up at 3am and still no sign so at 615 myself and DH (who does not do early mornings) were up driving round the Springs looking for him...we were worried as we live near a lake leading onto a few different communities and I was convinced he had got himself lost. We'd left the back door open just in case and when we returned about 40minutes later there was a chubby little face looking up at us from the sofa as if to say 'And where do you think you 2 have been, I'm waiting for breakfast!' I was beside myself with relief and needless to say he was kept in as soon as it got dark last night just in case! Thank for alll your help and tips ladies.....let's hope we have no more dramas! :)

What a lovely post SalsB! :) I hope you and your family have an amazing time. I've also realised this year how short life is with all manner of horrible news. I decided to hop on a plane recently to just spend a weekend with my mum and sister and fully intend to do it more often. Life is far too short and we need to embrace those we love andmake the most of our families! I hope you have an amazing time - your DD will be overjoyed I'm sure! :)

Another suggestion is to "train" your cat to a certain sound. Whenever I feed my cats the good stuff (they get a spoonful of quality tinned food every morning and evening - or even tuna on special occasions) I always tap the can with the spoon. It has been helpful in locating them in the garden in the dusk and to get them into the house if they need to be locked in for whatever reason. It doesn't always work but I would say it does 95% of the time - the other 5% they are generally taunting me from the top of the wall but strategically placing the tuna in a place where I can make a grab usually works after a few minutes. Perfect! I like your style - thanks!

Thanks so much for all the tips! Am going to try them all and think we are going to keep him in a little longer as there are quite a lot of cats in the area and want to get him used to them by sight at least first - although a few have already come up to the window to have a go through the glass which makes me very nervous....butter on the paws, extended 'confinement', open doors and strolls before food. Will try the lot! Oh and we are also going to try and walk him round in the dark (so no-one can see us) late at night. More trouble than a baby and probably just as much loved lol! THANK YOU!xx

Thanks both This is a family pet but one that came to us after being an outdoor cat and will not settle indoors all the time. We have had him on a leash for a few days just roaming the garden to get used to it but he is absolutely desperate to get out there now. Will try the butter Alismum! Willing to try anything! :) Thank you

Just as a warning...I tried to pick some up for a friend in the UK last week when I was home and I was told by 2 pharmacies (one being Boots) that it was prescription only...both asked the age of the baby so perhaps it was because she was 6 weeks only? Anyway, she did mange to get some from someone coming over from Ireland so perhaps different there - may be worth stocking up if you have anyone coming over from there. Good Luck.

Oh Moth Am so sorry for what you are going through. It is the toughest thing and I have so been there and to be honest still am for the large part. I know exactly where you are coming from in terms of avoidance and I swear that Dubai/UAE is the worst place at this time as we are surrounded. Everybody I work with seems to be having babies and sending me pictures etc and my heart breaks each and every time. I just feel like the sad old loser! It is hard to explain to anyone who has not been through this process. I am very undecided right now as to our next step but I would love to talk more as I know I can't make it better but I feel it helps so much to have someone who knows first hand how hard this is. Please let me know how I can contact you. Thank you for your re-assuring words by the way. Sometimes its even harder when you post something on here that you know people will have differing opinions about and see all the views and then a fraction of replies. All I think is 'yup they all think I'm too old' but then again in my more rational moments I think that's not the case. Honestly what a mess I am! I really hope to hear from you soon. This is so hard but PLEASE take comfort in the fact you did get a positive result, it may not have worked this time but there are more chances and it sounds like you are willing to go for them. Try and look after yourself and we will speak soon. Wish I could give you a hug as if you're anything like me you are probably having a little sob even as you read. Take care xxxx edited by confusion on 21/01/2013

Thank you Kooky. What you say is very helpful - particularly during such a wobby phase which I am struggling with. I know in my heart of hearts that I would be fine but the pressures of age are just incredible (and yes it mostly comes from other parties who question it). People can be so terribly insensitive when one is struggling to conceive or sadly miscarries and the one thing I have taken from all of this is that I will never ever open my mouth without thinking of the absolute heartache that other person may be feeling - just try and consider the impact first. I am perhaps an overly sensitive person at times which has not served me well lately but I hope it will continue to serve me well when and if I do ever have a baby. I will always consider those without and think twice before I make comments (or even worse post things on facebook) which can cut to the core. I am also trying to put some perspective on this and consider the amount of women who at 38/39/40 have babies and I dont raise an eyebrow to them - it's just that extra few years that is really freaking me out, particularly when I think of the impact later in life. I have to try and remember as you say that 40 is the new 30. THANK YOU. I really appreciate you taking the time to share xxx edited by confusion on 20/01/2013

Yeap, first at 38, second at 40 and third at 42. I had great pregnancies, fantastic deliveries and am loving being a mum to my LO's. Relax - 40 is the new 30! love this post! (i'm almost 37) Me too! Am loving them all. I'm not quite sure if you ladies know just how much of an impact these lovely posts can make to someone who is racked with worry about whether my prayers are selfish. THANK YOU. It's only when I read things like this that I can become a little more rational in my thoughts and hopes. xxx

Thanks for the wishes confusion.Haven't a clue why but this year 'feels' different some how, I am doing things I have never done before and it is liberating. Good to hear Nomad and I know what you mean. It's odd but even my sister said the same in an email to me yesterday. 2012 was a dreadful year for so many people I know in so many ways. This year will be different and already feels better. Let's compare notes in December ;) I'm doing a 'happy jar' which I read about on line and any good thing that happens to me no matter how small this year will go in the jar and will be read out on New Years Eve 2013 to look back on a FANTASTIC year! ;)
