I have also broken my ankle and had surgery so no weight bearing for me to... however I cannot get along with crutches does anyone know where to buy a turning knee scooter to help getting around. I so regret not buy one of these when I broke my ankle, especially when I was non weight bearing for more than 10 weeks. Try Life Pharmacy on the Al Wasl Rd near the Emirates NBD bank, I recall my DH said they sold them - but double the price of the U.S. Price ?

We have recently employed someone with hearing difficulties and the company is setting up classes for those of us who would like to learn sign language. I am going to take advantage of this wonderful offer, who knows when it will make a difference.

We aren't moving until August so we won't have VISAs until then so what do I do about applications? Apply now online, they will ask for school reports etc. and be able to offer provisional places and perhaps your children can take the assessment tests in their current school. This is what most people do.

Bradenton Prep from JVC is an easy drive, hearing good things about that school too and it isn't as expensive as DAA.

Our gardener was frightened to death of our beagle, and the dog knew it so played up, I suggest you ask him to come once a week on a fixed day and just use the sprinkler system to water the grass/plants between visits. AED 200 is not much a month to have someone cut the grass and keep the plants tidy, plus pick up dead leaves etc. It seems a fair price to me.

Yes I am sure she would be able to but I suggest she gets the PRO in her new company to double double check before giving her notice in. Adopted kids and one parent family's are becoming more common here.

I suggest you look for villas in The Villa and Mirdif. School wise - try Kings Nad Al Sheba, lovely small school or GEMS First Point ( not 100% sure of that name) which is just outside The Villa.

GE I felt like that at Talise Al Qasr - which was a gift from the boss. Felt ignored and not shown the area very well at all. How odd, me too. My husband bought me the treatments and I just left afterwards as nobody communicated what I could do or where to go, i was on my own - perhaps it is better with a group!

Complicated, I think you may need to get advice from the rent committee, was the original vacating letter official and notarised by the Dubai courts? I think they need to be. Please update us, I would certainly be keen to hear the outcome.

Firstly where is the villa/apartment? Is there mains gas? We used to have dual fuel in The Lakes, I got a gas bottle supplier to sort out the gas supply/ provide the gas bottles and an electrician to connect up the electricity, you may even find the supplier / delivery people of the actual stove will connect the electric supply as there should be a closed plug only usable by stoves.

I wonder why they dont ask for it in the third term? We are still very far away from Sept 2015! I think this is to identify how many places they will have to offer new students in September. There are often many children waiting for places and many nervous parents hoping their kids are offered a place in a good school!

We have the Tefal Actifry, it works really well especially if you 'twice fry' the chips - they need so little oil and are really crisp. Only downer, they are very cumbersome and we store ours on a shelf in a storage room!

Oh, and one more market ;) Union Coop. Emirati owned and very popular among Emiratis but it's open to everyone. They probably have the cheapest prices but the range isn't as big as at Carrefour or even Spinneys and I've never been impressed with the quality. But many people shop there happily. They have a big store in Al Barsha mall, as well as scattered across the more traditional areas of Dubai. Where is the 'like' button when I want it, your post above is great - so informative, thank you, CP x

DIA, IB system school ASD, American system, hard to Get into without a U.S. Passport. Regent, UK system not sure of current reputation. Emirates International School, UK / IB school. Kings al Barsha, newish school but offspring of a successful school. Check the KHDA site for recent inspectors reports. Good luck, don't delay with getting applications in, good schools have very few places to offer so the early bird has more choice. edited by Cornish Pixie on 06/03/2015

Hi Sar 53, I too am an older lady but I work full time however saying that I would love to meet up for a coffee (or something) over the weekend! We like Oopsiedaisy seem to have had many friends leave recently and we are always open to meeting new people. I have to agree with Odaisy, there are lots of younger people here but there are quite a few of us mature ladies/gents too!

[b'>An update on my Post[/b'> Cornish Pixie, you have never said anything more true & real. We had the whole screwed by a Landlord situation some years ago. We left Dubai in debt having gone there to help pay our own mortgage & help our family because our Country has been particularly hard hit by the economic down turn. Every way we looked to try & get justice would have cost us money. The Landlord took 1full years rent even though we had given the appropriate notice. He had our cheques which we had to get back before leaving . He had us over a barrel. I truly believe what goes round comes round though !!!! Heres hoping :) Hope your well CP. I am the user formally known as Nobby Welcome back Noddy, i hope life is treating you better now! CP xx

It all depends on where your parents are from, if they are 'visa on arrival' pasport holders I am pretty sure they can still do border runs, including at Mussandam.

Thanks darlingboys, no English! I don't want to suggest the family apply here, there and everywhere so I am trying to suggest schools where I know they'll get good help. The younger child is very young (just 3) but for the 7 year old it is more complicated. Has anyone any feedback on GEMS International Al Khail or Raffles Academy? Thank you again.

[b'>An update on my Post[/b'> Sorry for not posting earlier, but finally, I got some relief, I had run from pillar to post to find some relief and also hired a real-estate expert advocate to legally help me, he was bit expansive but could help me getting court order to serve notice to tenant to evict my apartment irrespective to his agreement with Max. Court ruled that eventhough he have ejari and paid 1 year rental to Max, it was Max who did the scam of signing agreement with tenant for period more than agreement with landlord. Court also stated that tenant also made mistake of not verifying all documents with real landlord. Court advised all tenants to cross-check all documents before signing any document. Judge ordered tenant to vacate my property within next 30 days and I agreed to give him another 15 days, so I'll get my apartment back by end of February. Thanks ladies for your support, which I can see from "[b'>thumbs-up[/b'>" on my post. edited by AB-dxb on 01/02/2015 You won't get any thumbs up from me, I for one feel sorry for the tenant who has paid a years rent and will be homeless in 4 weeks. If I lost 6 months rent I would be hard pressed to remain in Dubai ! It is very hard to check documents with the real landlord, I have tried in the past - I now tell our employees to only pay the landlord NEVER the agent unless there is a full Power of Attorney, stamped by Dubai courts, and with the original available to view. Too many people here intent on cheating others. edited by Cornish Pixie on 01/02/2015
