Our office is in Emaar Square and it takes about 5 minutes to walk to the metro so add another 10 to say Burj Residences and that would be fair. Mind you walking is easier than driving, the one way system to drive to the metro is ridiculous and takes almost 10 minutes from the office - it is quicker to walk!

It is the agents who are RERA registered not the landlords. Make sure you see proof ofownership documents, and if it is owned by an individual get a passport copy too.

My son, now a 6'2" 23 year old, also didn't seem to like milk when he was a baby, I gave him lots of solids diluted with milk, weetabix, baby rice, vegetables etc. To this day he doesn't drink milk except for a drop in coffee! I appreciate the up to date recommenadtions are now to delay solid foods but you can't stick to the rules with all babies. Good luck, I feel for you and remember how frustrated I would get with him. My DD loved milk as a baby and still does.....shame they can't read the rule books.

You have to go down to talk to the rent committee at Dubai Municipality on the Creek. There are rules, you can deposit a cheque but they will advise you better than me (I am in relocation and have not directly come across this scenario before!). Good luck, keep us updated!

Tinker bell I really doubt there will be any left by then. I suggest your best bet is to watch EW closer to the time, often people buy them then can't go for some reason, failing that just go to the stadium on the day and chances are someone will be selling some!

Thank you for all the replies, this is what we thought. I can't believe the company we rented from ( who act as a go between as our landlord speaks very limited english) told him that this was ok! The company who act as go between you and the LL can probably see more commission on the horizon!

I'm sorry, I can't help with the one cheque problem, CP, as we didn't manage to negotiate for ourselves, but I just wanted to say, how selfish of you to move before our contract is up so we can't move into your house, which as you know, I've coveted for a long time ;) Seriously, I hope it all works out well for you. Have you decided on Motor City? Absolutely decided NOT Motor City, we went and looked on Saturday and I went into deep depression over the awfulness of this new block, terrible finish and it felt really gloomy, huge balcony but absolutely no view. We will move to The Greens, just round the corner from where we are now. Our neighbours are going to probably move into our villa as they are having to move out because theirs has been sold, we will leave it with a heavy heart but now without kids at home and our beloved beagle who died in December, we are rattling round and it is time for a change! :cool:

How can you be having a problem like this??? :\: Yes I am, but there are 1000's of agents out there in greater Dubai and this is not one that I would prefer to use BUT I love the apartment! Embarrassing huh, I would tell my people not to covet anything too soon! ;)

Yes you can rent a car without residency it is just after that can be a problem, and that is only if you have a license that it is not transferable.

Indeed they are right. It is purely the labeling of the two different school systems that prevents a child moving between the two, so Year 3 in the British System is equal to Grade 2 in the US/IB system and you can't miss a year/grade group. (You can go from British to US/IB though as it looks like you are going backwards - such silly rules!) But moving from Grade 2 to Year 3 is simply not allowed!

There is also a second hand watch shop in Beach Centre along Jumeirah Beach Road in Jumeirah 1. Hopw about the chefs table in the renamed ex Gordon Ramsey restaurant at The Hilton on The Creek (sorry I think it might be called Table 9 but I am not sure) , that way he is in the thick of the action, I doubt little kids would be allowed though as it might be a bit dangerous. Otherwise Pier Chic is lovely and even in the summer has fabulous views, and kids are welcome there!

My son had his hair cut last week at Version Francais in The Marriott Hotel, Dubai Marina - it cost AED 115. He is a fussy young man and was very happy with the results, Ahmad cut it.

No way should the owner (your landlord) expect you to have 'Open House' for viewings, give them a window - say once a week or a fortnight and insist people visit then between 6-7pm, or whenever suits you. The agents are too cheeky, don't let them take the Mickey!

When my machine is not in use I always leave the door open so any remaining water can evaporate. I also use a tea towel that is waiting to be washed to wipe inside the rubber seal. If it does ever become a bit smelly I run a 90c wash with some bleach in the drum and it seems to smell OK again after that.

You should not pay any more than the next years rent, in however many cheques you have agreed beforehand. Don't let the agent charge you anything, it is against RERA rules!
