http://www.auberge-razac.com/index.htm We stayed in La Grande Maison a few years ago and it was a very relaxing holiday. Not a fancy house but comfortable and plenty of bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, and twins for kids!

Horizon in Dubai Marina immediately comes to mind BUT I have heard some horror stories about that tower recently, pool out of use for months and a lot of noisy sharers. Check Marina Crown too, nice building with a great view/location and there are some 4 bed units there. Otherwise JBR, a few, and the Penthouses of the Shoreline apartments on The Palm. There is less demand here for 4 bed apartment units, as you say most people chose to take a villa but I understand what you thinking is behind your decision.

I have noticed recently that all the fees have increased from getting a UAE driving licence (up from AED 110 to 410) to re-connection fees at DEWA.

I have The Cube which I think has been discontinued now! My one piece of advice would be make sure you get one which has automatic settings for a short and a long cup size, my life is so much better now I don't have to stand and wait for the cup to fill to the right level. (I am on my 3rd machine in about 15 years!!).

You should disclose the location of their villa and see if anyone on here can help, did they mention who they work (ed) for or anything? If they are moving back to the UK then maybe it'll be one of the big companies who packed them up, someone has to have seen something. What a shocking story, so sorry to hear that you have been so taken in.

Check out the counter areas in the pharmacy's here, I certainly bought mine at The Greens a while back. I also bought a very pretty one from Debenhams decorated with colours crystals - very Dubai bling!

I always thought that they were able to be freely given to someone else (freely transferable) - is this no longer the case? We all have quite a few thousand and I was hoping to combine them and fly someone over for a special treat! Can anyone advise me?

Would you Mum's please help me out and post which school your kids are at and which days/weeks their schools will be closed for this next month! I am trying to help a big family to decide what their options are and I really would like to know who is off when, without spending the day calling all the schools - I know, call me lazy! Thanks ladies, I know I can count on your help!

We have a spoilt beagle too but he is not allowed on our sofas, only the sofa bed in the study that has a dog blanket over it! Try Churchill's to clean sofas/chairs/curtains/blinds/beds etc http://www.churchill-gulf.com/contactus.asp

Le Meridien group usually have Penguin Clubs for their smaller guests to enjoy, there is a great sounding one in Cyprus at Limmasol, maybe trawl through their hotel locations! We did many Club Med holidays when our two were young but the last one was probably 10 years ago so my experiences are very out of date. We chose them because one child liked to be active all the time and the other was happy swimming in the pool all day! We did always find that the more highly rated the club the newer and nicer the facilities were, we didn't ever opt for a key less hut on the beach! As far as destinations go - The Italians adore children and your baby would be welcomed everywhere, plus Italy is beautiful with lots of places to chose from!

I just checked and Chocs01 is right, it is AED3. I am going to transfer my whole balance to my DD and then use the AED80 that expires on 15th April and then buy more credit. This is such a stupid system as I hardly know anyone that ever lets their pre-paid phone credit go so low, I panic if mine is less than AED100. I wonder how I can get off this 'offer', anyone know?

I bought the vouchers early today and booked for a Friday in a few weeks time without any problem, she asked if we were using any vouchers and accepted the Cobone ones without any problem. Such great value, I was really happy to arrange them for when my DD is home with her BF!

I don't think Yellow fever is compulsory but it is recommended for some destinations in Brazil. I am totally jealous of your trip, we lived in Rio many years ago and loved it, the Brazilians are such warm friendly people. I hope you have a great trip!

The only time we can watch at the moment is at 6am - after about 8am the whole thing just grinds to a buffering halt - plays 1 sec then buffers for an age. I'm missing "one born every minute" and "masterchef" I managed about 10 minutes of Eastenders this morning but at 8.15 it just kept buffering.

People who suffer from very greasy hair tend to use dry shampoo to extend the time between shampooing their hair, it is a bit like talcum powder. I remember trying it in my teens and looking like I was going prematurely grey!

Fairfield, i've got the Hopen chest of 4 drawers, brown/ black color. I'd like 250 for it. I've just sold the bookcases and feel like the worst seller in the world. I dropped the price so much that now i feel bad about it, it was real peanuts! It's the first time i'm selling stuff so i guess i can easily be taken for a ride by experienced hagglers. Don't knock yourself, it is always tough to sell stuff and all too easy to buy it! Think how much money you are saving by not taking all these things back home! When we left Belgium we sent a whole heap of stuff to a furniture warehouse and I think they gave some of the items away in the end, my Mum was more upset than me as she had given me lots of these items when she downsized (and I had no choice in getting them!!), but I was just glad not to arrive in the UAE with too much furniture!

Is Beach road where the On The Border Mexican restaurant is at? Is there a certain point to park and then start walking? Is it street parking or garage parking? If you park at one of the malls; Mercato, Town Centre, Jumeirah Plaza etc, the parking is free, avoid the above ground parking by The Lime Tree Cafe (Jumeirah Mosque/The One) as you have to pay, plus your car will be in the sun all day! Have a great time exploring!

My client was offered that villa at 290k, it is on the lake and even the garage is air conditioned. The reason it's been empty so long is that it was sold to an investor and they have taken a while to decide what to do with it, move in themselves or rent. Believe me, it is the best villa I have ever been into in The Lakes. New marble floors throughout downstairs, upgraded bathrooms, all the fitted wardrobes have been replaced by custom built ones specially imported from the UK, it is quite different from your normal Lakes villa!

Strangely though, when I have been searching for AR villas recently there have been few about. I have to agree with you Claire on The Villa being great value, as is Falcon City, Victory Heights have recently become scarcer too as they are more competitively priced. The Meadows/Springs/Lakes are all showing signs of age unless renovated, and sadly few have had any money spent on them since they were built! <em>edited by Cornish Pixie on 27/03/2011</em>

The deema villa's in the lakes, were really highly sort after, but smaller, they were less negotiable... mrslaughan at gmail dot com Anyway if you want to email me I am quite happy to share what we are paying....there is a 5 bed at the end of our street for lease if you are interested in the lakes. edited by Mrs Laughan on 27/03/2011 If this is the villa I think it is, by the little park area, it is a lovely one - fully upgraded, poggenpohl kitchen, gaggenau appliances etc I think the asking price is 320k but I know there is some scope for negotiation as one of my relocation clients almost took it 10days ago!

Buy Febreeze for fabrics/carpet it should help. Also wash the area again with a bicarb of soda and washing up liquid solution, that should neutralise the smell a bit without being too abrasive.
