SueB just to clarify, my references to a scam are less about the products like Cleanse9 (which are a sideline to the real business of recruiting as many people as possible) and more about the MLM/Utah/Pyramid Scheme which is FL....have a read up on it...

I agree with Cheeky Monkey (and Tessa!) that sites like MFP are excellent and really make you aware of what you are eating and quantities etc. I'm doing that this week in between the [strike'>mountains of [/strike'> excess food last week and next weekend. 5&2 is also good as a continuation of that and for a couple of 'fasting' days a week. Cleanse 9 is just part of the [strike'>complete scam[/strike'> cleverly marketed FL programme but if it makes some people happy then each to their own. Alternatively just buy lots of spanx/squashing type underwear and get the chocolate box out. :P

Hi, at the top of plant street in Satwa (the end near the bus station) there is a hole in the wall window where you can take any sort of appliance for fixing. HTH.

I agree WickedAngel, there are plenty of facilities around, local cafeterias which taxi drivers use, mosques, malls, petrol stations - there is no excuse for this and it should be reported.

When you say he 'can't' get a divorce or 'hasn't been granted one' - what is the back story here? Has he asked for a divorce? Why did they separate? Why can't he initiate divorce proceedings?

Slightly off topic but it is also wise to carry the birth certificate if the surnames are different on the two passports, I had huge problems at LHR because of this and was asked to provide proof that I was the mother

Also be careful of hot roads at sunset in summer, even after the sun goes down the tarmac/pavements are still very hot for their paws.

No you don't as your visa number is still the same. You need to update your details if: a) you've changed visa (ie sponsor) or b) you've changed passport or c) your Egate has expired. HTH

Although various reports on social media are stating the dry day to be 22nd 5pm onwards, the DTCM has not made any announcement to hotels as yet. It could be 23rd as the occasion is on the 24th, so it is more likely to be on the 23rd from 5pm. The announcement regarding this should be made soon from DTCM.

The weather for the last month has been beautiful. Bright blue sky, white fluffy clouds, beautiful fresh breeze. I guess it depends which way you look at it. I'd rather be living here than somewhere with better air quality but dull, grim, wet and miserable! :sun:

You should definitely report anyone BBQing, and further up the chain than security or building management if it happens for the 2nd time. This would be taken extremely seriously.

there are material shops in Lulu Al Barsha (and elsewhere in Al Barsha) and also in Oasis, assuming the larger shops have Felt. There is also a material shop in Jumeirah Centre on beach road but that may be more expensive.

usual options for this scenario: 1. hire maid who collects LO in a taxi (pink taxi) which you can book on a regular basis 2. careem kids (www.careem.com) again maid would be required 3. arrange with another parent to have a reciprocal arrangement (you do drop offs they do pick ups) etc. 4. ask school if they run an after school club 5. some nurseries do bus pick ups from school and then back to the nursery for the afternoon. HTH.

Just go to the street which starts with the fish market and you'll find many a bag shop. Be prepared to haggle. Also some items will be hidden in secret rooms [strike'>not secret at all [/strike'> or may even be located in apartments nearby that street which you may or may not feel comfortable about going to.

hi January Sorry to hear of your troubles. The Govt healthcare is very good. In Dubai, you'd have to have a Government health card (obtained by registering online www.dohms.gov.ae) and going to visit your GP (AED 150) who would refer you to a specialist. I'm not sure how you will do this in AD as you will have a Dubai health-card. It may be worth visiting your local clinic to find out. Also, the Dr you mention may work in multiple hospitals including private?
