I've seen similar in Al Maya supermarket in Satwa, however it may be easier for you to create your own on a powerpoint slide and then just print 5 X A3 pages and cut out.

There's soooo much going on over the next week. Parade on Emaar Boulevard on the 28th Nov, all the skydiving/parachuting/hot air ballooning over the Palm/Beach and Desert, there will def be fireworks but haven't seen details as yet. Loads of cultural things too. More info here http://www.dubaicalendar.ae/en/event/events/uae-national-day-2015-1.html Union Co-op has a huge array of Flags/hats/banners/etc if you'd like to join in the celebrations :)

Tessa, you're an EW tonic! If you are genuine, please come with your wellington boots, your Aga, and your Sloe Gin (haven't heard anyone talk about sloe gin for years!) and we'll show you our real Dubai, away from the malls and all you read about in the papers. I think you'll fit in just fine. ;)

Only on EW could you go from jamming a small turkey into a crock-pot, to ordering one from the Burj Al Arab. :P thanks for all the tips. Ok so I shall be doing the crock pot but ensuring there's enough liquid and also not stuffing it with anything. I'll crisp it up in the oven when we get home, and report back the findings. Would around 8 hours be about right to cook it through do you think?

It's totally possible. Just pick a nursery which caters to working parents (so only closes during Eid) and not one which opens only in school times. Once your LO starts school, camps will cover mostly every single day when school is closed, and there are a wide range now from sports to arts etc so hopefully they will cater to your LO's interests. For days when your LO is sick, hopefully your employer will allow you the flexibility to have those days at home, however there are also agencies (BusyBees etc) that you can call out for other last minute dramas (school closing unexpectedly etc). It's possible although also quite tiring! Good luck. :)

Tessa, the man employed to sweep the foyer steps will be immensely proud of his job. His job will also be enabling him to educate his children, and give them the chances in life he didn't have - so please try to look at it that way. You [b'>must [/b'>move to Dubai. I can't wait for your first trip to Carrefour on a Friday afternoon. We can't wait until Sept 2016 for this move, please try and come earlier.

Incorrect answer! You CAN NOT drive on EITHER a rental car OR a private car now as your visa is under process. You must now wait until you have your Emirates ID card in hand before you approach RTA and do your conversion. Process is: Arrival in UAE on visit visa - you can drive a RENTAL car only Once UAE visa is under process - NO DRIVING of any sort Once UAE visa is in hand - STILL NO DRIVING (previously you could convert using paper application no longer possible) Once UAE ID Card is in hand - NOW you can drive once you have converted license. HTH.

Tessa, unfortunately your perception of Dubai is very Daily Mail like. You seem to have the view that most ladies are lounging by the pool all day or having their nails done. Sorry, that's not my Dubai. A great number of wives work here (so I'm not sure why your husband's employer would be so horrified at the idea of it) and if they don't work their day is usually filled ferrying children from school to medical appointments to football matches etc. Your posts are either designed to cause controversy, or you have a very skewed perception of real daily life here, where most people are actually working together as families to keep their lives ticking over. I don't know anyone who would spend their day lounging by the pool. Need to go now to make packed lunches, go on the school run, and go to work! From Real Dubai! CP. PS - Incidentally, it was very good of your husband's employer to negotiate contracts with you on a Friday.

And to put things in to a different perspective, the Risk Rating for France on most security based websites is (was) actually very low. So you might think you are going somewhere "safe" to live or on holiday, but look what can happen.

AdventurerB, 70,000 per year for FS1 must surely be at the top end of the scale?! We've never paid anything [i'>like[/i'> that and if we had to would be in a pickle as we don't get school fees at all! OP, my advice is to pick a cheaper school which still has a good reputation, and also not to immediately consider obvious areas to live which can be very expensive. There are lots of affordable villas in nice communities such as Mirdif, Warqa, Mudon etc which are not immediately considered but much cheaper. Also you don't have to live in a villa - Dubai has some fabulous, huge apartments where you can be in the middle of all that is going on without paying for grass watering etc - just for the first year or two until you get up on your feet. Good luck!

Hi BMAP hope you are well! I've seen Dr Baha for thryoid for routine follow ups & exams, and found him to explain things really well. Not sure which stage you are at in the whole process but if it's not too late, you might want to try homeopathic meds first or taking actual dessicated thyroid. Good luck, it's a minefield which I am sure you know already!

You can grow your own fruit and veg. We've had papaya, banana, dates, pomegranate, and more. Veg is very easy to grow and you will see large selections of local veg in some supermarkets. Only about 50% of people have a live in maid. Some have daily/weekly cleaners. Yes the sea has dangerous currents and there are warnings of this on certain beaches - however if you are careful the sea is mostly a great temperature and perfect for a swim. On some beaches there are huts to change in, suggest you use these or come dressed for the beach rather than try and get in to your swimwear whilst on the beach. Spouses do not usually travel with husbands to other parts of the GCC to attend work events.

6 business class flights a year is [i'>way[/i'> above the norm and many companies have moved towards either one or two economy flights or as a previous poster has said, including the allowance of those two flights spread between 12 monthly salaries. Also, I think you didn't mean how your church post came across but to live in Dubai you will be mixing with 200+ nationalities. Sometimes you may find yourself "the only one" of what you perceive yourself to be however you will soon find that it is very hard even to decide which nationality people are (if it is a thing). for example which nationality are the mixed nationality (sometimes mixed on multiple sides!) children, born and brought up in the UAE. It's better to look upon the whole of the UAE as a Pot in which you will soon be mixed. Try not to stick to your own nationality - whatever that may be. That's the beauty of living here. :)
