Hi ladies. A few questions for dukaners. First silly question. In the cruise phase, i want to follow the 2/7 rhythm, but it says every where P/P days are Mondays and Thursdays. Is this a rule to follow? 2nd Q. Is there liquid egg white in market? i love egg but discovered i cant have over 5 whole eggs in 7 days. If there is, please tell me where you saw/buy it. 3rd Q. What is Shirataki noodles? does it taste good? is it available here? Thank you.

Thanks ladies. I had a little chat with mum and she said it's not a good idea. She said if the mother is in a critical situation (matter of life and death), definitely send her, but now that she is stable, sending the maid will only create hassle and the risk of not returning especially after just renewing the visa.

Normally a maid is supposed to get 30 days annual leave. I don't think it's fair to send her home for a week after 2 years of working for you. after her 2 years, she will be going for 60 days (starting November 2013). I cant decide to send her for a week now to see her mother. There is no way on this earth that she will go for a week then come back, or be allowed to come back by her family. Also, the bit about her getting cash for a part of her ticket if she choses to leave you - why? You think i am being naive? And the cash part if she decides to leave, well, Im not sure about it, i just thought it sounded right (not in the contract).

I believe it is very kind of you to consider letting her go for a week. I am sure you can do without her for such a short period of time. Your house won't be falling down on you, especially if your mum s going to be there. So why not let your maid choose? She didn't want to go a month a go, maybe she still won't. Thanks Oopsie. My husband also says ask her. But who will say no to an all-paid-for holiday to see their family? i have to be 100 percent sure i can manage without her before giving her the option.

Daman came in at 30 k!! for the cheapest option and the other options went up to 103K O_O it wasn't close to this figure a few years back when we looked in to insurance for my MIL. Anyway, if applying for insurance under a "group policy", the price goes down dramatically. If the company you work for does not provide insurance, you can ask them to apply for you with other employees as a group then you pay them, or if you are self-employed you can apply for all employees in your company then ask them to pay you. Does this make sense? :) Also check Nextcare.

Cushion, Feefmick, check Daman. They have an online premium calculator that will give you an idea about the price. You can also check their network in Dubai. Google Daman Healthcare, then go to products. Good Luck.

Thanks ladies. I ended up buying fashion sneaker with a 3 inch heal online. I know not the best option to try for comfort, but i saw a similar one for 3 times its price at the mall but did not find my size, so this is my back up plan. I'll probably check out all the below once i have time off my computer!

shame most don't wash their hands on the way out of the bathroom. Every person has his/her own way of doing things. It does not necessarily like the way you do!! Washing hands before leaving the bathroom is basic hygiene. There is no other way.

My MIL and her daughters made major changes in my wedding. Things like modifying dresses, changing music, adding paragraphs... WITHOUT INFORMING ME nor my husband. Although this happened many years ago, i still cant forgive her. My MIL takes every chance to say how i cant raise my kids, whom, by the word of their teachers are "the most polite children they have ever taught". A lot of negative feelings..

Hi ladies, I need to get a few printed t-shirts made up quickly for a work event. Do you know where I can do this? Kodak at MOE say they need 3 days, and my boss needs them for tomorrow morning! Please let me know if you know somewhere they do this - preferably the Dubai Marina end of town if possible... Cheers Waterbaby, a friend knows someone who does an excellent job in one day. She got around 20 done for her son's BD and the t-shirts looked great. If you are interested i'll email you the details.

.. would it be possible to combine goods bought from Amazon (one sold by amazon and the other by an external seller- fulfilled by amazon) with goods bought from Zappos in one Shop and Ship parcel? I am buying some heavy and expensive stuff and would love not to pay a fortune on delivery. Thanks! No, IME Amazon only combine items for a delivery if they are from the same seller AND if all the items are in stock and so available for despatch at the same time. edited by Sugarbeach on 03/12/2012 The estimated date of delivery for both was 5 Dec (i used amazon prime), so i assumed they were combined

Yes. I always do that. Just before you confirm your payment there will be a an option of having all items packaged together for shipping and you just click on it. I just received a package from amazon and there were 3 different retailers in addition to amazon. Sometimes takes a bit longer to arrive as they wait until all items are at the amazon warehouse before shipping but you save in the long run. Happy shopping! Thank you Appletiser. I did "combine items" but amazon proudly shipped their item within 24 hours of ordering despite that the estimated date of delivery was 5 Dec, while the other retailer's estimated date of delivery is still the 5th. Bad for me, i have to pay for two Aramex shipments now.

Can you ask the seller for an updated invoice with the correct postage to here? ETA: I've never seen an option to change country - when I need something sent here I usually just get the seller to send me an invoice with the relevant postage included. edited by DubaiCat on 25/11/2012 you mean after buying it? wont you want to know the shipping charge and expected time of delivery beforehand?

I am trying to buy an item from ebay USA and it says it ships worldwide, but there is no option of changing the country. I know i can use my S&S account but i thought shipping directly might be faster. Help please. Where you don't have the option? In your account or where? i am not signed in ebay as i forgot my password - if this is what you mean. Under shipping and payment, it says shipping to: Worldwide. Change country: United states --> cant scroll it up and down.

As I have mentioned hubby has changed job in the last few months and we have just found out I am pregnant but that our policy doesn't cover it. Has anyone else been through this and can advise what our options are? Private packages, government hospitals etc. Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated :-) go to corniche will be the cheapest i suspect. on the contrary, corniche would be an expensive option. Many years ago a friend of mine was in the same situation. She went to an Iraqi dr (dont know the name) in Dar Al Shifa clinic (the one opposite to the old coop in tourist club). She said she payed a package for 8 months which included monthly follow up and ultrasound, she was quite happy. I am not sure about blood tests though. When she was 9 months pregnant she started going to corniche an gave birth there. I remember in my last child i went to corniche to open a file just in case things go wrong. They didnt take my insurance and i remember paying over 1500 for an ultrasound and some blood tests in one visit.

fatima check in the terms and conditions if it says voucher sent after purchase or after deal ends. If it is the latter you'll have to wait.

6500 dollars with accommodation and car is a package of about +33000 AED. It is not only possible to survive, but to also live happily and send your child to an above average school.

For those who have been to Dino Live before, Is it ok to take an 18 month old? do you think she be terrified? is the place stroller-friendly? TIA edited by D-J on 09/11/2012 Place is very stroller friendly but it would be scary for an 18 month old. My two year old was scared of the sounds and teeth of the dino's. They also move a bit their heads which is surely creepy for kids that age. I appreciate your reply Asti. If the place is stroller-friendly i might just get her ear plugs.

Hi Jay. I actually live in Abu Dhabi now so i dont think i will be very useful with doctor recommendations. I didnt try any doctors in Dubai for her sensitivity but maybe other ladies can help. As for the diet, my baby is 18 months now and i give her everything. She does develop red patches and start to itch every now and then for unknown reasons, but the only thing i do is give her fenistil or/and zyrtec drops - not everyday but just for instant relief. I also stopped the hypoallergenic milk and i give her cow and powder milk (nido 1-3 years) and they seem ok. For some period of time i washed her clothes with hypoallergenic baby gel, but i also stopped that, only because it became such time consuming to me! Bottom line.. she is not on any diet or long-term medication. The rough patches are still there on her legs but with Stelatopia creme from mustela, they are MUCH better (thanks to the lady who recommended the product on EW). I am counting on time as i was told sensitivity gets better as the baby grows. I hope your baby gets better soon. edited by D-J on 23/10/2012

Butterfly.. my husband is exactly like yours, apart from the name calling. The missed calls, the bills, directions.. everything i do is not good enough, and everything good i do is just "the normal thing any wife/mother would do, nothing special". The thing is that i cant kick his a$$ and leave as we have 3 children, however, i reached to a point that i cant take any more abuse. I stopped apologising some long time ago, i even stopped the neutral silence when i get yelled at even if i am absolutely right, instead, i started replying back in a teasing manner. I say things like "do it yourself" or "i am sorry if you don't like it my way, but there is no other way i can do it", and "no i don't want to change, why don't you change?". If you have to live with him whether for the sake of kids or other social reasons, please stop caring about what he says or does. Just walk out when he starts yelling or look out the car's window as long as he is speaking. And most importantly, don't look or sound weak. One last tip, if he starts blaming or arguing, just go like "i don't have brains, remember?" and look like you couldn't care less.

Ir doesn't hurt, and that's what got me worried. I saw my dentist and she said its probably nothing...I am not comfortable with the "probably" notion I will see a GP , but i was hoping some one would know a Dr specifically for such cases GP wont help. He cannot examine the inside of the mouth. I recommend you go to an oral surgeon (dentist specialised in surgery). He will numb the area and remove it, then send it to the lab just to make sure its not bad. Easy procedure. I had the same and got it removed. Not in Dubai so cant really recommend someone. edited by D-J on 11/10/2012

Every day I see people driving unsafely, kids without seatbelts, people being rude to those who have less power than them, people being impatient and queue jumping, people pushing and shoving to get somewhere first whether it's out of the school carpark, in a shop or theme park. At the moment, the owner of my villa has got away with over a min 100,000 AED in unpaid community fees and I am picking up the pieces. I cannot get Emaar's rubbish people to collect my rubbish, even if I pay privately. And other private contractors are charged 1,000 AED every 6 months to come to my community on a regular basis. My Landlord has absconded with my rent cheque due to be cashed in next year and RERA's thinking appears to be the first cheque has not made it to the owner either. I've tried to register my lease today (I had paid the LL to do it but they didn't instead they pocketed the money) and I can't register it because there is an inconsistency in the numbering between the lease and title deed. Apparently, only the LL can sort this out. But he's sunning himself in Pakistan isn't he, so that's not possible. None of this would happen in my home country, so right now, in Dubai, no, I don't believe in Karma because all the bad people seem to be getting away with it and the good guys are suffering. First of all, sorry for quoting this looong post but how will you know to whom i am replying? lol Anyway, for people who believe in judgment day, everything makes sense (IMO). Something really bad will happen to the guy who stole your money, either in life or later. On the other hand, you will be rewarded, either in life or later.

No not at all. I believe in fate, I believe that my life has been planned out by my Creator. And that's it:) I do believe in getting what you earned if you know what I mean.. So you don't believe it has anything to do with how you behave or what you do? If I believed that, I wouldn't get out of bed in the morning! I am a firm believer that whatever is written for me will happen. I know I will be punished or rewarded for my actions, in this life or on the Day of Judgement. But that is not karma. I am no so religious but i know that our actions are not "written" in the sense that you have no choice because they are pre-decided on your behalf. Yet, the creator knows what we will be doing, hence the name creator, and therefore our actions - that we have total freedom of doing - are written.
