Lots of great classes around Silicon Oasis - try calling 815 Dancecentre, or Aspire Dance or Step up Academy. All teachers are well qualified with international certification - really important. I am a dance teacher (working outside of this area, and can really recommend these ones).

Ladies, I need a hysterectomy for a prolapsed uterus and am leaning towards Dr. Janeta at Infinity or Dr. Elsa Fernandes. Anyone had this operation and happy with the results with either doctor? I have put this off for about 5 years as I'm so worried about any side effects or even having an operation!

Hi Hope, There used to be several companies offering collision damage waiver coverage for us expats. Now it's not so easy to find. I used this company for Canada last year (I am Canadian) but it also covered for the States. http://www.worldwideinsure.com/ One of the issues for driving in the states though is liability insurance - in case you injure another party in an accident and there doesn't seem to be any coverage for that included there. My husband drives in the states when he visits and has had to get the liability insurance through the car rental company. Liability insurance isn't needed in Canada just the collision damage waiver. I have rented from Hertz at the airport in Toronto and they actually have some pretty good rates which includes the insurance if you become a 'gold member' - no extra payment necessary! However this varies depending on which area you are renting from - I then rented in my home town in BC, Canada and nothing was included so I had to use the supplemental insurance. If this all sounds confusing - let me know!

Hello, Anyone know if the Chinese consulate is open this week? Can't get through to anyone on the phone. Wondered if it's closed for the Chinese New Year. If anyone knows that would be great - thanks!

We just imported our puppy we got from Canada, decided to use a company here to deal with the requirements and gave us a contact in Canada to sort that end out. We used Dubai kennels and cattery, also another company here just sent me info on importing pets: posh paws. If you google both of them perhaps that will be a start. We were really happy to have the help as would have found it daunting. Though I'm sure some have managed well on their own. edited by dancer2003 on 11/05/2014 edited by dancer2003 on 11/05/2014

I just renewed my daughters passport. She is now 16 so able to have the adult passport. I just downloaded the adult passport forms and sent in her child's passport. We got it back very quickly . I did have a cosigner sign it and the second photo.

I'm an RAD ballet teacher and can answer your question about the music. Piano was used for all exams up to last year . With the new grades system 1-3 at the moment and 4-5 in 2014 this is phased out in exams in favour of the use of orchestrated music on cd, which teaches the children about ballet music used in dance. There is piano music on the cd which can be used for class on occasion. The new grades are challenging and you should look for an experienced teacher who is RAD qualified. Your child should be dancing twice a week for proper exam preparation for about one full year per grade. Otherwise students who are not up to exam standard can prepare for a Class Award.

Yes I know, it's driving me crazy. We are with etisalat and the same thing is happening. The show is one show behind all the time. Some of the channels are showing the name of the show and it's really the show before! Been like it for a month now. So if Corrie is supposed to be on at 8.30am and says that on the guide it's actually on at 9am. It must be an OSN thing.

Thanks Roysie, will put my parents address on the form. Thank you! I got my passport on the one day service last year and phoned them before I went in. They told me to just use the address I was staying at for that day, even if it was a hotel. So no problem to use your parents address.

I do the same with my passports (old and new carried). Just wanted to add that I just got my daughters British passport renewed having to send it to the UK now and not Dusseldorf - it was so quick, got it back in under two weeks. Yay!

Just came back from a ski trip after doing lots of research myself came up with this from Chamonix.net From Geneva The Swiss have an excellent rail network. the SBB, with major stations in Geneva and Zurich airports. However these do not provide easy access to Chamonix. We advise a transfer by road, but if you are set on using the train, cross Geneva to the Eaux-Vives rail station and take a French SNCF train to Annemasse or Roche-sur-Foron. Change here for Le Fayet/St. Gervais Les Bains. Change here onto the Mont Blanc Express and a panoramic ride to Chamonix. Journeys will take between 2 hours 51 minutes & 3 hours 25 minutes. A shuttle transfer by road takes about 1hr 10 mins. The SBB timetable is better than the SNCF timetable. The latter does not provide times and routing from Geneva Airport, only from Eaux-Vives. Hope that helps. We ended up going somewhere more accessible as we only had 4 days.

Perhaps see a physiotherapist? I used Dubai Physiotherapy Clinic in Jumeirah and they seem to be pretty good at getting to the 'root' of a problem. I was treated for painful hips which I had had for about a year and am better now. My daughter was treated for constant knee pain which they found was a result of lax ligaments from the hip.

Thanks so much Beebers for your great information on Prague - now I'm excited to go and I will definitely look up the Movenpick! Thanks too Daza, sounds like my kind of place - yum! We are going to Prague on canadian passports which don't appear to need visa's prior to arriving - does anyone know if it's ok to travel between countries in the Schengen area? From what I could find out it sounds as though it is but appreciate anyone who knows for sure.

Didn't get one done that day as I didn't have time, but glad the DNATA building one is still open as thats easier. Amy did you get your e-gate attached to an id card or get one by itself? I've never had one but am tired of queuing when coming back in. edited by dancer2003 on 01/07/2012

Same for me, I have three books posted to the sns account in the UK a month ago from amazon marketplace - all sent out April 15th-30th and none have yet reached my account box. It was for a course that I've since finished so will be returning them! (If they ever show up). Last year the service was way better. Won't have to order for quite a while now, thank goodness.

Thanks for your replies! have decided to just have my son apply from Canada (which goes through Washington) - now he can do it himself as he's 20! and I will just apply for my daughters from here (i know it goes through dusseldorf). Actually the forms are a bit misleading as you don't need to countersign photos if the photos haven't changed much (which they haven't) it says you need to countersign on one part and on another you don't under the rule above. I didn't get my photos countersigned when I renewed mine so thanks for getting back to me though I appreciate it.

Yes it's ok, you may want to consider Marhaba to meet him or have him travel as an unaccompanied minor as stilladviceseeker said; if coming direct from another airport. (Changing planes i.e non direct flights are a problem if they are unaccompanied minors - they would need to be handed over by a parent or guardian directly to the gate agents of the airline). Make sure he is carrying a letter of permission from his parents which ideally has a notary signature on it with your details including contact information and flight information.

If it is a ballet class I would recommend Pre-Primary ballet for that age group. If she turns 6 before January 1st I would think Primary ballet. Not sure about other dance forms.

My 19 year old son is visiting us from Canada and he was previously a resident here. Only today I have realised he is not covered anymore under our insurance as he has just passed his 19th birthday. Is there anywhere I can buy insurance while he is here until the end of the month? The insurance companies I have looked at online seem to be covering residents who travel overseas - not the other way around and companies back home seem to only cover from the day you leave to return (not retroactively). Any help, much appreciated as I will worry about it now every time he leaves the house!

We came from the Canadian system and had to put our son into Grade 10 when we arrived. He absolutely loved it. Academically his grades went up and so did his self-esteem and confidence. He was able to play varsity soccer and travel which was great for him. He made some wonderful friends with whom he is now in contact having started University back home. He got to the University he wanted to go to in Canada and told me if it wasn't for his school he wouldn't have done as well. Our experience was very positive - the school has great school spirit at the high school level - the kids seem to be very inclusive and helpful to new students. I highly recommend.
