mmm, Tamieg1 - good point.......that's a problem. At the moment, we don't have school places, and from what things are looking like, we might not have places even once we move there, it might be home - tutoring for a while. (I am a qualified teacher, so that's not soo much of a problem) but... All the school places I have enquired about are full and with waiting lists, so we are applying anyway, I am also applying because it would make sense that if the girls are going to a school where there is a secondary and primary on the same campus, I may as well be teaching in the same place if possible....here, I drop them with my mum, so that I can get to school early, but over there, that won't be an option.... Geez, this is all so complicated....in the meantime, having exhausted the school research I thought I'd turn my attention to more exciting things like looking at houses! But thanks for the tip... I need a big map so I can plot all the residential areas and all the schools and try to work my way around! It is logistically a nightmare though! I need school place, accomodation and a job offer for me to land on our doorstep on the same day! They're all so inter-dependent...

Ah, thanks Kitsune, it's just so hard trying to imagine what these places are really like, all the photos online look great (well, nearly all of them) but you can't really tell what a place is like just by the photos. I like the idea of green, from what I've seen, there's a lot of tightly packed housing and concrete from road - pavement - walls of the house with nothing growing insight! I live in a market town in very green countryside in the UK so that is something I will miss.... (mind you, I won't miss the weather, 15 degrees and it's been raining non stop for 3 weeks! summer in England! I'm considering turning the heating back on!) Really appreciate your insight, thanks, I'll check it out. :)

With 2 daughters, aged 14 and 8 - A budget of 20,000QR a month Knowing nothing about 'nice' areas, busy roads or undesirable neighbors (with the exception of the fact that every-one wants to live in West Bay Lagoon - and we'd be lucky on our budget to be able to find somewhere) I have been searching on the internet, but without actually being there, it seems impossible to choose... My DH will be there in September, we probably won't arrive until Jan 2013, but I'd like to narrow down the search and get some idea of where we might be moving to.... I'd really like to hear from people who already live in Doha and get some recommendations on where the nicest villas are.... Any advice, good or bad, gratefully received!

Haha, VRDoha, I am exactly the same, thought that if I actually had to teach some classes it might give me the incentive to actually get off mine and go on a regular basis! Thanks Joos, I trained in Ballet, but I am no ballerina! However, you opened my eyes to the University idea, I did a BAHons in Choreography and Dance which is what the offer at VCU, so great potential for my daughter who is very interested in dance and another possible place for me to contact re: some teaching / lecturing.... Thanks Ladies! :)

Thanks Joos, I'll check out the Yoga studio...I'd like to find some classes for my two daughters to go to as well. It's a bit boring being taught by your mum all the time! Thanks VRDoha for the tip on checking the hotels and I'll remember if I start up adult classes / Zumba, I'll do it during the day time! Lots more research for me to do...When you say 'compounds that are not convenient for me...' do you just mean because they are far away, or are they actually not very nice? That's my next problem, when you look at photos of places to live, you cannot tell what the atmosphere of a place is like.... can anyone recommend a 'nice compound' where my girls would feel safe and be able to make friends?

I used to teach Jazzercise for adults, but the classes I do now are all for kids... I was wondering about taking my Zumba instructors certificate before the move though, have you tried Zumba? Does anyone know if there are Zumba classes out there already? There seems to be a gym with an aerobics studio on each of the compounds I've been looking at, so I'm guessing they have classes. Can anyone shed any light on the sort of classes they run in the gyms out there?

Wow, that was a quick response....Thanks. I was thinking, that just because schools don't have it on the curriculum now, doesn't mean that they wouldn't like to offer it if they had a teacher.... I thought I might just send my CV out to all the schools and see if any of them are interested, but I'll start with Sherborne, Thanks. I trained doing RAD ballet, I went to Elmhurst Ballet School, I did all my grades and my ISTD associate teaching exam for modern and tap before doing a BAHons in Choreography and Dance, as well as teaching in school, I have also run my own dance school, doing evening classes, weekend classes and summer schools for kids.... so if I don't get 'employed', then setting up my own classes is definitely a possibility. Thank you for replying. I may just get on and contact the schools directly. I'll let you know if I have any luck!
