Also you must wait till the 30th day , if you exit before 30 days is up and return thinking you will get a new 30 day visa this does not happen , if you re enter before 30days is up you will still be on original visa !

After making the mistake of moving my children from an established school to a brand new school I would advise against it . I have also had friends this year who moved their children to a new school last September against advice and by easter were desperate to get them out and into another school .With a new school despite all the planning it just doesn't seem to come together as they had hoped and there are lots of changes , parents have high expectations too .I would suggest looking into how many of the newer schools have their founding heads 2 -3 yrs from opening , what the staff turnover is like , this says alot about the school . Jebil Ali Primary is a very well established school that is moving to new premises , that would be an option or even some of the good schools rather than looking at the outstanding ones , they can only get better and the good schools in Dubai really are good . I would also say you need to visit the schools you are thinking of if you have a chance when they are open for students and you will get a feel for them . All schools are different and all children need different environments to learn . Good luck

So with the new bridge that opened on oud metha this week the rush hour traffic going to DESS has reduced making the school run more bearable . A lot of the children live in Silicon Oasis, The Villa/ Falcon city and Mirdif . All of these areas have lots of affordable accommodation you would even get a villa within your budget . My children use the school bus and we have yet to have an issue with the way the bus drivers drive .

Axelle , I haven't heard anything about the compounding pharmacies medication but would be interested to here about it and who prescribes . Dr D also suffer with hypothyroidism so has taken the meds and knows what it does and how we feel . I wasn't prepared to go AIP for a long time but now I am following it I wouldn't go back . I feel so well .

I just used Dr Buthania Al Shunnar for lift and reduction . She was wonderfull , can't recommend her enough . Totally happy with her work , with her and her staff . Buthania made me feel at ease from the first time I met her , I had had consultations with other doctors but none of them filled me with confidence in fact one actually said he didn't like performing this surgery .Didn't really like the thought of Emirates hospital but actually the care was fabulous and you are only in for a few hours . Oh and it cost 50,000 aed

Dr Liliana Skorski did mine . One night in hospital ( city) then home for a few days rest . Went for coffee and a walk round spinneys during the first week , just took it easy then day 8 took a flight and was fine . Driving after 7 days , just be sure you are comfortable to do an emergency stop . You do need to check with your insurance though as you may not be covered . Three weeks post op went on a golfing holiday was just a little tired thats all

I think if you alert your bank that you are about to leave without paying your debts then they issue a travel ban . Once you have gone they have no way of getting their money till you come back . I may be wrong but I was under the assumption that to cancel your visa and leave your debts have to be cleared first too as they check at the airport .

Until the debts are paid you are at risk . I have a friend who left in similar circumstances in 2008 who's husband has been travelling through Dubai a number of times after checking it was ok to do so until the last time when he was arrested , went to court and has ended up with prison sentence and he will have to pay what is owed before he leaves Dubai !

The Apple warranty is world wide . However the Apple retailers here do not want to honour it . My daughter broke her screen on her Iphone 6 and took it to Apple store in UK , their policy is they have 24 hrs to fix it or they give you a new phone . I took my other daughters Iphone 6 to ABM Care today and they said yes it is covered under warranty but they do not repair screens so I have to pay 1250 aed for a replacement phone but they cannot tell me if it is a new phone or a re conditioned phone and it then only has the remainder or the original warranty . I am taking it to europe to see if I can get it fixed in an Apple Store . Alternatively and official Apple store is due to open in MOE this month lets see if they have the same policy's as the rest of the world !

Negumbo doesn't really have much to do , great beaches and close to the airport so if you are just looking to chill around the pool then that would be fine . There is now a motorway open from the airport into Colombo city and it takes around 30 to 40 minutes max depending on time of day you arrive . Colombo has so much to offer these days , ministry of crab is two minutes from the Kingsbury on foot with other bars , restaurants, spa's and shops in a lovely courtyard setting in the old dutch hospital . The Hilton is under renovations so alot of public areas are closed so steer clear of there, The Cinnamon Grand is also a popular hotel with a small mall next door. If you are looking for something cheaper The Cinnamon Red is 8 months old new brand of cinnamon hotels with buffet breakfast , rooftop bar and pool and modern rooms . There isn't really a beach hotel in Colombo other than The Mount Lavinia but that is a bit far out for the city centre facilities . There are some villa hotels in the city like Tintagel owned by Paradise Road group this is a beautifully renovated old house with amazing restaurant and small pool. Lots of new places to go and eat and drink like , Park Street Muse ( bars , cafes, live music, spa,) , Uga residence ( great place to stay too with the best restaurant in town apparantly ) , Independance Arcade , the Race Course as well as many Temples and museums to see . Sri lanka is somewhere where you will visit again and again as there are so many places to go and visit with so many different things see and do . Beaches , Safari, Golf , Temples . Hope you have a great time

I would try Liliana Skorski at HealthBay Poly Clinic . She is a gynie but specialises in hormones . Speaks excellant english and totally understands what women are going through . Without being disrespectfull how on earth would a man have any understanding of how a woman feels , his life is not controlled by hormones !

Hi Tulip, Yes DESC is very sought after, increasingly so as time goes on (its only 9 years old, so had to establish a reputation to match the primary). The primary is very well established, oldest school in Dubai and very well regarded. DESC now has an outstanding KHDA rating (though its debatable whether that means much). DESC is pretty hard to get into these days (thou not as hard as DC). I've no idea how many applied this year, but they told me the ratio is usually about 4 applicants to each place. That was early on in the application process last year. Consider yourselves very lucky! Which other schools are you waiting on? DC is an unknown till end of the month. Hi, thanks for the info. We are considering the new Safa Community School. Very impressed by the new headmaster who arrived 3 weeks and is already changing things and helping parents visualise what the secondary school will be like. If he delivers on what he says he wants to do, it will be excellent. Great curriculum and facilities. Looked at GEMS schools and they weren't for us as a family. So we have an established school with great feedback vs a brand new school with no history but huge potential. My daughter is quite shy and a new smaller school may suit her better....or a well established larger school may help bring her out of her shell! Decisions, decisions! She is quite bright and just passed her 11+ grammar entrance exams in the UK. She likes both! But she is edging more towards DESC. Do the children come from far and wide to DESC? I quite like the idea of local school, local friends etc. Thanks. You will not go wrong with DESC, foremost it is non profit. It has a board of governors who are extremely active and take parents seriously (parents are also on it). Staff work incredibly hard and are rewarded with one of the best packages compared to other schools. Everything is tracked, parent teacher communication is outstanding. Children thrive in this school and are HAPPY. Community spirit is amazing, sports and extra-curricular activities free and strong. House system encourages loyalty and friendships, yes children come from all over Dubai to attend this school! I cannot urge you enough to take the DESC place, the school is becoming the school of choice in Dubai and places are becoming like gold dust, for very good reason. You will have a very hard job to beat what they offer, DC would be the only other school right up there. Academically your child will be challenged if able, they have had Cambridge entrants, so don't worry about academics. DESC certainly is becoming the school of choice and I do believe they had their first student accepted into Cambridge last year too
