Try Linked In, they usually have a lot of openings for different fields. If there is an opening in my line of work, I will definitely let you know, but as some other ladies mentioned, it is not the most ideal time to get a job unfortunately... But will definitely keep my eyes open for you!

Wherever you buy from, make sure at least the beef and chicken are organic... the amount of hormones that is going in there is ridiculous. Chicken is one of the most dangerous these days with the hormone levels... If you have kids, better not to feed them any chicken entirely than to feed them non-organic... For veggies, at least try to buy the thin skins such as strawberries and tomatoes etc... from organic sources... there are 30 different kinds of pesticides that go in every fruit or vegetable... if you read about the different dangers, then it would be worth investing a little more money for your and your family's health...

Thanks ladies! I'll head over. I did check online but probably best there! I had cashew "cheese" once and it was amazing but who knows where I'll find that! lol Actually there is lactose free cheese - which is probably what you need... It is really yummy. you can find it in Biorganic in Tecom. they have yellow cheese and spreadable cheese and also there is lactose free milk. plus they have an in-house bakery there that do many bread options, like dairy free, egg-free or gluten free. Hope this helps... :) Good luck!!!!

For me, knowing how my baby is, I would struggle to look after her, the housework and cook in a day so I would never dream of expecting that from my maid. The baby is the priority. When she sleeps, the maid cleans/irons. When the baby is awak and needs entertaining then that is what she does. She used to iron in the lounge with the baby and sing her songs etc when she was awake but couldnt do anything Most maids I know of do not really cook and I would not expect them too, for me, I just think it is too much work for one person. It tends to get easier when the babies become toddlers :) this is the point where my maid has taken the task of cooking. She was proposing so I gladly accepted and taught her to do many things :) but yes the baby always comes first and they should never be given the responsibility unless the toddler is in nursery or school - and when they have a bit of time on their hands.... :) I get up early, sort the baby out and feed her and go to work. I take over everything when I come home and the maid does a bit of housework then and once we have eaten, thats her day finished

Hello all. I'm going to be weaning my daughter in a few weeks and just wanted to know how exactly it works? I know I need to slowly introduce food but when I start with food how many times a day shall I still breast feed her? Any help would be greatly appreciated ? Just remember to give the same veggie or fruit for 3 days in a row to make sure there are no allergies before you introduce a new kind! one of the best things to start with would be the squash family and apples/pears as they are easy on the stomach :) try to go organic if you can! the amount of pesticides in fruits and vegetables these days are horrendous! Good luck!

Thank you cleopatra and danykz , great suggestions. any other tips will certainly help. does she cook for your family? if so when does she get time to do that? Glad to help :) mine cooks now, I think with time once they master a certain task, they will start learning the other. My maid cooks for me in the morning (I take breakfast and home cooked lunch to work) so she does that early in the morning before my daughter wakes up - this is after almost a year of when she joined our family, so it took some time, which I don't mind, as long as the priority of taking care of my daughter came first. But I never asked her to do this, she wanted to learn and she had the ability to multitask. Just be careful of what her strengths are before you give her too much to do :) I must say, going back to work is never easy, the guilt feeling never ends, you just learn to live with it. the only time where it feels ok is when the kids go to school... Good luck!!!

Hi, It is my sister's birthday at the end of April, she is a new mom to a 3 month old, so not feeling all new clothes and that due to still wanting to lose baby weight etc --- anyone got any ideas of what you would have liked if you were/when you were in the same position? Help thanks A nice gift sometimes would be to buy her and her family a nice professional shoot, whereby a photographer would come to her house and would take some nice pics of her and her new family :) They usually have some nice props for everyone. it is a memorable gift I find and heartfelt...

I am normally a jeans and shoes type of women so i am always at a loss when i have to wear a dress. We are hosting a party later this month and i bought a full white dress for myself (5 months pregnant too). Now i am at a loss as to what colour accessories to buy with it? I feel golden would be too much. Dress is plain with net detailing so no other colour there. Would peach or pale green will look fine with it. Saw some beautiful pieces at lovisa in dubai mall yesterday. PS: i don't hesitate to wear bright colours :) edited by angel joy on 03/04/2014 If you are feeling adventurous, one of the best colors with white would be red, but not everyone is comfortable wearing red, so it really depends on your personality :)

Hi Ladies, I'd love to hear your experiences and thoughts on baby porridge please. I don't think it's as bad as baby rice. My 5month old is super hungry and still feeding at 2.5-3hr intervals, and I really feel ready for something more substantial. I'm thinking of introducing porridge with the evening feed in the hope he will sleep through/wake less, not just for my benefit, but for his too. :) Try some organic and healthy alternatives such as millet or spelt, there are many organic and natural types of porridges for babies starting 4 months that you can use. some baby are ready for weaning at 4 months and not necessarily at 6months. But it is always best to ask your pediatrician first :) But if you don't want to give rice, there are several options in the grains that are very helpful for babies post 4 months - AS LONG AS THE BABY IS READY, AND THE DR RECOMENDS IT :) GOOD LUCK!

Ive recently had my first baby (20 days back) and also have a new nanny/maid at home now..im training her on our lifestyle - food/cleaning basics...i will have to go back to work soon and need some advice on your nanny/maid manage both the house and baby when your away does she have a schedule? i would not want her to focus on house chores when we are away as the priority is baby. would she have any time at all during the day ? any tips/suggestions and advice will be very helpful...TIA Just a small tip, make sure that the maid/nanny understands that the priority is the baby... many will be scared of not fulfilling their chores that they will disregard the baby a bit to finish their housework. Just tell her to put your baby as a priority above everything else. A couple of cameras in the house will help too to ease your mind - one in the baby room and one in the general living room. Hope this helps! Congrats on your baby, I wish you all the best!

Thank you ladies for your replies. I wasn't expecting flowers , chocolates or even a card. I agree that's its very Americanised.... But I didn't think just a quick Happy Mother's Day would be too much trouble....like he said..I'm not his mother !! It's nice to be wished... even if it is just a small note or a word, doesn't need to be fancy. Maybe you can show him how during father's day and he will appreciate the kind gesture and return it back next year... There are always nice subtle ways of showing a partner how you would like things to be done :) Hope it works for you! I am saying this because my husband never forgets, and it is a nice feeling to hear a small appreciative word in the morning - even if someone feels it all year long - it is still lovely to hear on the day, so hopefully you will get it too :) :). I don't believe that if a couple appreciates each other all year long, then there is no need to even say " Happy Mother's Day or Happy Father's Day" it is still symbolic and beautiful :) so best of luck!

Union corp has some good selection. I got few from their Al-Barsha store. Still going strong after 2 years.....no colour fading, no material damage. I think they were Dhs. 100 each. I bought some from there, but the material is very thick and it's all long sleeve back then, will try to check again...

There's a uniform shop at Spinneys Umm Suquiem. Normally the maid's uniforms are very thick material and not 100% cotton for the top ( which is important if they are carrying my child ), colours are horrible too but you could customise. What I did is chose one of the school fabrics for the top uniform to replicate the make of the blouse (big double pockets are important if they are taking care of small child, it's handy for milk bottles, toys, etc) and use the original material for the pants. When you customise, always remember to bring the maid with you and get the proper size that they could freely move ( not too tight, not too big). They will measure them there. I always take the light blue (sky blue) / white stripes for the top and plain sky blue for the bottom as I cannot see them wearing other colours but it's a very personal choice. Giving them uniform has many advantages: - The process of wearing the uniform prepares them mentally that they are going to their "work place" - They will not have to spend money on their own clothes that they will wear daily - They look more professional - They know that when they are in uniform, they are on duty We paid AED 1,400.00 for ours 2 x 6 sets each. edited by farthestpoint on 25/03/2014 Thanks!!! Problem is my maid keeps gaining and losing weight... she tries to diet and then takes some back! hahahaha but I will try to customize, thanks :)

If you are not American? I will be travelling to the US with a toddler and a baby and was wondering if I could get a visa for my maid to travel with us? Anyone did this recently? Tia! Can I give you some advise I never took when it was given to me and ended up regretting it? Never ever take your maid/nanny anywhere - did this dreadful mistake of taking her with me to Cannes, France for 2 weeks with the entire family as I had a wedding and I did not want to leave her behind. My DH was 1.5 yrs old. For the entire trip she was with me or my mom in the room, I only needed the maid on the night of the wedding (because all the family was attending the wedding), which was the last night before we travel back home. What does she decided to do then? She runs away, puts my daughter to sleep at 10 (after calling me to ensure I was still gonna be long) and she runs away... with a missing bottle of whiskey and a diet coke bottle from the room. I believe she gave a little to my baby as the next day she was drowsy and I took her to the doc and the doc said she was probably given a little whiskey to dos off. This was the only night I needed her!!!! I was furious! I saw her leave on the security camera at the hotel, what I felt at that moment was inexplicable... I paid an extra amount of 13,000AED to renew her passport, renew her residency and take her with me and this is what I got back. we treated her like family, took her everywhere we went.... never felt so angry at anyone... Honestly the only thing that made me go mad is the possibility of her giving my baby some whiskey!!! If she wanted to leave, then I wouldn't have stood in the way, but never every put my own DH to harm... Had to leave my baby with my mother until I come back to Dxb to find a replacement as I had to go back to work. This was someone that I trusted and that everyone envied me for having her... The horrors I found in her room when I got back were scary... she was with me for nearly 2 years... so please try to take something out of this horrific experience... and be careful....

There is nothing wrong with being induced if the body is ready. did it first time and will do it again in the next pregnancy. I was 5 days early the first time as the baby was no longer growing inside of me and I was gaining a lot of weight. It is a longer process but it is all the same... don't worry, being induced is not as bad as it might seem.... I have researched before and at 38 weeks the baby is fully grown, the next weeks to come the baby only gains fat, but he/she is fully grown genetically at wk 38. But the baby can easily grow outside the womb as much as inside after wk 38. If you will be taking an epidural, they will give it to you earlier while they induce you and you won't feel a thing. Of course, you need to consult with another doctor... Good luck, and I wish you an easy and smooth delivery!

Danykz, Women cheat too. All the time. A cheat is a cheater. Further, in cases where cheaters are is a marriage/domestic partnership, such people are scum. I know women who are very close and dear to me (i.e. blood relatives), and they are scum also for cheating. Makes no difference. Also, OPs husband probably has only been *caught* twice in 7 years. Believe me, he's cheated more than twice (or with more than 2 women) in 7 years. edited by yvettesmom on 23/03/2014 I agree! Women cheat too... for sure, I do believe that, but women have slightly more restraint than men. and I was only talking about this specific case :) :) :) but yes, sometimes both are at fault.... But sometimes women decide not to cheat. But men rarely can decide if they are exposed...and these days men are exposed all the time as younger women are becoming bolder and more upfront....

The problem is that men don't think of consequences when they cheat. Women are much more analytical and they think ahead. At the end of the day, everyone can give you advice but no one will know what is best for you except you. Women with kids think about their families and put their kids first, men don't even consider what their actions might lead to, and they take the risk and cheat. What women need to do is to give themselves a little more credit to everything they do to maintaining, nurturing and building the family. In other words, every woman deserves more. In my humble opinion, if you decide not to leave him (and this is an advice no one can give you except yourself) you need to put your foot down and start taking care of yourself, let him take care of the kids while you go out with your friends, take some "alone time" and let him feel what it feels like to be you! Am sure he will appreciate what you do more and more... what he has done is not easily forgivable, if you decide to forgive him, I hope you get as much as you can back!!! Because he definitely does not deserve you! Good luck, I think all our hearts go to you...

I lost 30Kg after my first delivery (after gaining 25!!!) by really cutting out on dinner, it helps so much. I am used to it by now, so at night I used to eat some celery, kale and some other greens without any sauce. it helped me so much! Lost all the extra weight in around a year or so. so 3-4 kilos can be removed easily in a month, especially that you are working out. but you also need to check if you are losing in cm esp that you are replacing fat with muscle weight. Good luck and hope this helps!

Their customer service is shocking. I do most of my shopping there (which equates to a lot of dirhams) and [b'>have bought spoilt items on a number of occasions[/b'>. I understand that these things happen, especially in this climate and never try to get a refund but according to them each and every time the problem is at my end and not their fault. I've actually given up wasting my time telling them, if they want to think they are blameless and leave spoilt goods on the shelves that is up to them. [b'>This weeks manky item [/b'>was porridge oats. Filled with little bugs, urg. It was a sealed bag, which I opened as soon as I got home to do some baking and it was teeming with them. Why do you keep going back?

If it was in the pasta, then it is a problem of warehousing and storage... not factory.
