Keno, they cannot force him to resign. If they want to get rid of him for under performance, they must prove it. It sounds like the HR person is trying to save the company some money due to : a) If he resigns, he is considered a Bad Leaver under the Long Term Incentive PLan and his stock options or shares will be forfeited b) They will only have to pay him a fraction of the End of Service Benefits they owe This is the oldest trick in the book and quite frankly, as an HR professional, it disgusts me. He must walk into the meeting confident, tell them that he will not resign. Ball's in their court!

Just thought would share in case any of you didn't know yet - apparently lots of shops still have 'secret' sales, as in all signs are removed from the windows but you can still get great deals (50% to 70% off) if you go in and ask about special offers... some shops even have normal price tags but then it turns out the item is on a discount! Discovered it by accident and also discovered in some places you've got to literally interrogate them: 'hello, do you have anything on sale?'- 'well officially sales are over but yes, we do have some items, like those bags over there...'- 'ok thanks, anything else?' - 'yes also some clothes of those racks', 'how about belts, you have any on sale?' - 'ermm yes we have some here (opens a drawer and pulls out a bunch of belts with 50% off)' Had a lot of fun and came across a few gems which was a bargain, too - so thought someone might find the tip useful))) Haha . Is that their new trick now... Secret sales !!!!!!! makes you feel special that you are actually buying something for it's real price and they have just marked it up to make it look like a sale..... Argh

Try contacting debbie at debbieallan at hamiltonaquatics dot ae as Hamilton Aquatics do great swimming lessons at DBS - not sure if they are doing a spring break camp, but I bet they could sort something for you - and Debbie has taken my three year old from not swimming at all to swimming unaided in about 5 lessons. edited by glenfiddich on 07/03/2012 Thanks Glenfiddich! If you want to work on your [b'>English[/b'> accent then maybe best to get an English person.... as Canadians have a Canadian accent and Americans, an American one!!!! Maybe she works in a North American Company and an American Accent would serve her better? The English do not have the monopoly on accents

I just love.these regular reminders that as an expat I'm essentially worthless and should have no rights as it's not my country. Makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside! Luckily the actions of the government give me a different impression to several dictatorial posters here. I know what you mean. It's supposed to be a 2-way street but it certainly doesn't feel like it sometimes.

I couldn't revive the old Overheard at McDonalds thread - I suspect its reached its full capacity, but I couldn't help thinking of it when I had this conversation yesterday! Sha: I'd like to book some treatments for me and my friend using the skywards offer Spa: ???? What offer ma'am? Sh: The Skywards offer - 30% off? Spa: Oh the sky-wards offer Sh: (eyeroll. thinks Isn't that what I just said) My friend would like the Vitamin C wrap Spa: We don't do that ma'am Sh: But its in your brochure. Spa: (condescendingly) No ma'am, only our downtown branch, we use their brochure. Sh: (another eye roll) - of course, silly me. [dull conversation ensues about whether I can book for both of us, but confirm my friend's treatment later. We conclude that this is possible and move on with the conversation'> Spa: When would you like to come? Sh: Sunday 18th please? Spa: Next Sunday? Sh: No, Sunday 18th Spa: So, next Sunday Sh: NO. Sunday the 18th Spa: (condescendingly) No ma'am, next Sunday is the 11th, not the 18th Sh: (thinks but doesn't say "I effingwell know that next Sunday is the 11th however that's not when I want to book!!!!!!!" But instead says -) I WANT TO BOOK FOR THE 18TH, NOT THE 11TH [transaction is conducted, credit card number is given'> Sh: So can I book for my friend now? Spa: (hesitant) when does your friend want to come? Sh: The same time as me????? Spa: Oh ma'am, I must check our rota, to see if that's possible Sh: Well if it isn't possible I don't want to book either!!!!!!! Spa: I call you back. LOL

Were you on your way home in the cab? If you live in a secure compound with guards, then they would have taken down the license plate number and ID of the taxi. You could explain to them what happened and they will give out the details. You can then call the Cab Company with the EXACT time and they will ba able to locate the EXACT taxi driver. In the meantime, cancell all your cards and report the missing license to the Police. 700 AED, don;t worry about it. That's 2 road fines . xxx

Each time i have blown a tyre an Emirati F1 team has appeared from nowhere jacked up my car and changed the tyre in minutes They have pulled me out of sand, stopped when i had an accident etc etc. Big shout out to the locals! LOL How many tires have you blown???

Moustique@ here is a chance to make some MONEY $$$ for sure....start looking for a LAWYER !!! In process you will learn something ... and we all will too!! If you really want to do something about it..... !! else ..BUY COPIES AND POST TO YOUR FAMILY ...and FB ...btw which paper is it and event..will go grab a copy now :D I wouldn't go the Lawyer route at all. There is no such thing as diffamation or privacy law in the UAE. She will just be wasting her money.

To be 100% sure, I'd steer clear of any sushi as even prepared salads and cold rice can be risky unless you KNOW they are fresh, handled hygienically and stored safely. If you can order hot meal options, go for that and have a lovely night. :) I agree with Green-ish. You should go but only order the hot sati skewers or rice with some Miso soup.
