He's a good kid...still trying to work with one hand.... at least his friends are helping him out with his work. Okay well in that case, I wuold help him out. Maybe you and and some of the other clients could gather enough money to pay for proper treatement

It's also very pertinent for many ExpatWomen on these boards - politics and everyday life are often inextricably intertwined.. I agree with you Simps but it's considered too sensitive

LL's do not pay a thing to rent out their properties. It's all on the tenant Our landlord paid the same commission cheque to the agent as we did. Same with our previous landlord. DH and LL were there at the same time in agent's office when papers were signed and all cheques handed over. Then that is the exeption to the rule. I have always maintained that if LL's were made to pay the agency fee to rent out their properties, they would be more reluctant to try and boot the tenants out after 1 year as it would cost them

One of the main problems is that if you are given notice in the UK for example, the majority of the time you can just go rent another property at the same spec for the same price... But here you are looking at having to pay significantly more than your current rent, and not just 10k. All due to greedy landlords and agents. And each time you have to pay the agency fee again which is really unfair. In more developed markets, the Landlord pays the fee.

ladies, I have to go to labour court tomorrow, as I have never done this before, Im clueless and really would like to hear from someone who knows about the proceedure / has been through this before? My CEO is the company owner, he takes money out of the account as he pleases! and have seen him in his new car and new boat, so I have no problem taking people like this to court, I just want JUSTICE ....... :) You so realise that just the threat of taking him to court may make him pay you your dues. Have you tried that route yet?

The authorities in SA must have 'handsome' clearly defined and described! Silly me, I thought it was down to personal opinion. Yes Elabella they do , they have a handsomeness gauge :) :) But how can men judge the "handsomeness" of other men?

I could not manage without my full time live maid. She does everything in the house: cooking cleaning washing ironing, supervising my DD aged 8. DD travels to and from school in the school bus. Even if my maid did have a drivers license, I would not allow her to drive my DD. Driving here can be very dangerous and I have more faith in the school bus drivers than I do in maids' driving. Generally they have been driving for a lot longer, are males and more than likely to law down the law with the children. Certainly the driver in my DDs school is. He is very quick to telephone parents telling them that their DS or DD is behaving badly on the bus or is endangering themselves on the bus. There are plenty of female bus drivers in the US and they are considered as good if not better than the men. I never really get your posts... you are so old-fashioned in your thinking. I am not from the USA so don't know about your bus drivers but assume they are Americans. My point is most maids who have licenses to drive here have been given them from previous employers here and more than likely would not have a lot experience as drivers. School bus drivers here are highly experienced drivers and are usually men. BTW, I am proud to be old fashioned as you call it - I would prefer to call myself a conservative muslim woman, who drives, by the way. Half the school buses i see here daily are bouncing across the roads, cutting into traffic and speeding! scary to see Agree with you 100% Sarahlou. The school buses here are dangerous beyind belief! Not really sure how 3/4's of the drivers got their license!

Some things were minor but others not. Her hair was long and I'd find it in our food or my youngest sons purees. That aggravated me to no end since I tie my hair when entering the kitchen, so I'd expect her to do the same, she kept avoiding the hair net. On the phone she asked if she'd have a day off, I said yes but not weekend because that's the only time I have to see my family. Upon arrival even before I had her residency she kept asking for her day off. When I finally gave it to her I said she can pick a weekday and leave early morning and be back by afternoon. She insisted she wants weekend. I bent over backwards to give her the Saturday from 8 am till 6 pm. She said she wants more, so I said 8 pm she said no, she wants 24 hrs, and if not then she wants to leave! I said that she's to allowed to spend the night out and that it's also for here safety. After that things just net bad, she'd lock her bedroom door when going out ( the iron is in her room) she had said that we don't give her enough food! Anyway, i think she thought I'm desperate and won't dare cancel herr visa, SOS when I did she was apologizing and regretting it. Sometimes they don't understand what we say and I don't units and her when she speaks and that can cause major issues! Good luck with yours, what's happening there? Sorry but that sounds a little unfair. You only give her Saturday from 8-6? So she can leave at 8am and I guess it takes her a good hour by public trasport to go meet her friends. Then she has to leave by 5pm to be back by 6pm? Why can't you let her leave on Thursday night around 6pm and be back on Friday around 9pm? Unless of course you need her to babysit in which case you let her know a few days before. Also, she shouldn't need to lock her room. Make a copy of the key.

reason for us was the constant earinfections, which was always solved with antibiotics..(which is also not good). Dr suggested the grommits and we did it. No more antibiotcs and no more earinfections. she di have a check up and grommits are fine in place still. What I understood is that they will fall out from themselves, no need to take them out. Agree with Salamander. Same reasons for us. The grommets fall out naturally.

I would highly suggest Manpower, Kershaw Leonard and Morgan McKinley in the top three. edited by anniesmum on 14/04/2013 The first 2 would never make my PSL. They are terrible. Morgan are OK. I am surprised. They all rate highly whilst others do not. As mentioned I take into account candidate feedback on how well they are given feedback and these rank highly. It's a shame in my honest opinion that SOME consultants do not even bother to contact - I have been through the same myself out here and wiped off my preference list immediately. As another poster said, depends on your industry. For mine, really none of these companies can help me place people. They just wouldn't have the network I need to get the best candidates. Also, while Kershaw L say that test admin staff, when they come to our offices for the compency test, they always fail.............

I do not think now is a good time to buy. Europe may be entering the double -dip recession in the next 6-12 months. Things are NOT good and the UAE and subsequently the real estate prices will be affected. Best to rent for another year and see what the market does. Interesting...why another recession on the horizon? They have been talking about it for months now. The European Parlimentary elections will be telling re the Eurozone.

1. Are you entitled to end of service gratuity? Yes. You are entitled to the fraction of the year as well. 2. Are you entitled to compensation for the unused portion of remaining vacation days? Your vacation days would be recalculated according to the portion of the year worked and if unused, you should be paid for them. 3. Most importantly, are you entitled to salary compensation for the remaining 6 months of the contract? No because it's an unlimited so no compensation due edited by derien on 08/04/2013

Also, I certainly wouldn't be signing any Vacation Notice, if he wants you out he has to give you 12 months notice to vacate and his reasons for doing so, ie., either to move in himself or to sell the property. You don't have to sign anything and I wouldn't. Yep I agree with this. If you are going to sign a Vacate Notice, you should have the LL state the reason why. Then if he is lying, you can always go the the Rent Committee.

Let a 3 year old into a mens toilet unsupervised anywhere in the world, No way, no way!!!!! Not on your nellie. Up to about 9 or 10 and then i would stand outside the mens with strict instructions to scream and run if approached. Lolacat - my DS is turning 9 soon and he has started to question me when it comes to the toilet. When he insists that he's going to the Mens Loo, I stand outside like a stalker and scream out his name at least 5 times ti make sure he answers. I am completely paranoid!!!!

If they are asking you to sign a Vacate Notice, then you know you are going to incurr costs in 12 months for moving. I would think that it would be more than fair for you to not have ANY INCREASE this year against signing the Vacate Notice. JMO edited by derien on 07/04/2013
