Expect at least a month before the court reaches a decision and makes a judgement. On your first hearing, go equipped with all the proof you have of non payment - translated into arabic and submit it. Based on what you and your employer have to say, the court will make a decision. If the company does not have money, they might ask them to split the payments into 2-3 and pay. Good luck!

Phuket is beautiful if you don't stay at the commercial hub. We stayed at Centara Grand Resort - the one with the water park within its premises and the beach and the hotel were perfect. You get a complimentary shuttle for Patong 2-3 times a day and free water park entry. Very close to the airport too. Good luck!

Hi Sakhifa, that is basically the problem; which one is suited for me? If someone can take me by the hand and guide me, at least in the right direction, I can manage on my own. I want a simple site, nothing fancy, nothing to sell just stuff to read for me and my friends. In the jungle of possibilities I find it hard to find what will suit me - especially because I know nothing about the subject. If you want to put up just stuff to read, why not start a blog instead?

You could try the Beach Centre In Jumeriah - it is the smaller, old, blue one down from the zoo. There is a small shoe shop on the ground floor, near the entrance, opposite side to Burger king. The have a large selection of Fit flops and in smaller sizes. I take a 38 and have seen smaller sizes there. edited by Genie on 23/03/2013 Thanks!! Will try that.

I've tried at most of these places with no luck at getting the correct size. I will try again but please do let me know if someone spots a size 37 somewhere. Thanks!! :)

If you negotiate well, you can get a deal for about 250 - 300 pp including drinks. Just give them a budget and ask them to work within it. Most hotels try being tough and then get softer when they know you really mean business. Try hotels like Grosvenor house, Park Hyatt etc. Nice hotels, decent food and generally willing to listen to the client and discuss needs. I have contacts at most hotels and can help you strike a deal if you want. let me know. :) Good luck!

Racism here is never a patch on UK standards. My DD married a really wonderful guy, who isnt white and from the UK. I always say have thick skin, cos your gonna need it. Well that's one viewpoint - personally I always find that people are more " racist" to their own kind e.g I have found affluent Indians to be the worst to their own. I agree! And it is annoying. But it becomes another story when justice is denied due to this.

Why do you think it was racism? Perhaps it was because he is a man and your a woman? He is a boss and you are a employee? Might not have been a fair case but dont play the 'racism' card immediately. ...and by pointing out that he is white make you racist too. edited by Asti on 27/02/2013 Btw DH understands Arabic and the judge actually said to the translator " this Indian girl keeps coming up with stories, does not know her salary. her basic salary was raised but she doesn't know how much it is and is arguing" How the **** did he decide that I don't know what MY OWN BASIC SALARY is???

I am sorry that the white guy won the judge over, this sucks and is certainly not fair. I hope that you can appeal. Yes I can appeal but that wastes a lot of my time and energy. It would have been simple if the judge just did a simple task of asking the FZ for the salary certificate but it now drags on!! :(

This may sound odd, but I've been writing a book, it's the book I want to read. It gets your mind really active and you are really into it, and find yourself going back to finish that chapter. It has been so much fun. I've gotten my children into it, too. Their book is fantastic, and their characters have lives of their own, with such great detail, as the stories of these characters have grown and grown over the months. If you can't find anything that tickles your fancy, ask your inner author to tickle it for you :) I used to write short stories as a kid and as I grew up and got busy gave up on it somehow.

always! i read at least one book a week! current/just finished faves: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6295209-love-in-a-headscarf http://www.amazon.co.uk/All-She-Wants-ebook/dp/B00844Y47O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361700776&sr=8-1 That's nice. I finish a book in 2 - 3 weeks usually depending on the size because I have no real time. Just about half an hour or a bit more before I sleep. I'll look at the links and please let me know if you come across another great book. Thanks

Any corporate gifts or a t shirt company would be able to offer these in Dubai and each t shirt will be within AED 20 depending on the quantity you want. I am into the same business and it is easily available at not too high a price. If you have some t shirts in mind that can be imported and you have time in hand - import them. The quality will be better than what you get here but they'll be a little more expensive and will need more time to be ready and delivered. Good luck!

I am sailing in the same boat. Dispute with company - case in the court - no settlement = Account being frozen. I have explained the circumstances to the bank and have an offer letter from the new company. But they need the original passport and valid visa to update the system with the new details. Don't know what to do? :(

Hi Flowerhead, I am just starting my own business. Everything seems easy except the fact that unless you are setting up in a freezone, you need a local as your partner. The locals because they know we really need them charge money and still do not turn up for important things. If this hassle is crossed, everything else is not so difficult.

I am not sure you'll get what u need within the range mentioned but Rolla in Sharjah has a huge market that caters to all budgets. Good luck! You can't go there in a hurry, give yourself at least a few hours to look around and decide.

Usually to get a paid sick leave you need to produce a sick leave certificate even if it is for a day. Some companies might be nice and not ask for it but majority of the companies do. I once had a terrible headache and just needed some rest but for it to be a paid sick leave, I had to go see a doc and get a leave certificate. So yeah, in the absence of a sick leave certificate from a physician, they can deduct your salary.

I have been using it for at least 15 years with no side effects and have not seen anyone having any side effects for as long as I can remember. But of course, please feel free to research or contact a doctor before taking it.

Both are awesome but on weekdays, Pai thai is better than Thiptara - less crowded and noisy, more personalised service. And you arrive at the restaurant by an abra which is a nice touch. Get a table outside as it has the lovely water view and a romantic setup and the weather's just gorgeous these days. Have a good time wherever you decide to go. :)

I got a couple of my dresses altered from this place (can't remember the name) in Al Barsha. It is in the building opposite Jashanmal in Al Barsha. It's in the same building with a cyber cafe and an Al Madina grocery on the ground floor. They did a very good job with my dresses and returned them within a day.

Where in the supermarket did you find it? Which supermarket did you use? Do you know if there is a difference between Pakistani and Indian safi? Is it safe for teenagers? TIA and sorry for so many questions! Try Al Adil, Lulu or Hyper panda. I usually get it from India. I bring 2 - 3 large bottles from India every time I go. Keeps my stomach and skin perfect! :)
