hello ladies, I am planning to buy a chappati maker but I am not sure whether it works well or not. And which brand is good? If any of you have experience with chappati maker, kindly advice me. Thanks. I have seen them in Global Village. Theres usually a stand where they will do a demonstration. Pretty impressive.

Companies don't generally increase housing allowance as they already see this as a 'benefit'. Here's the latest regarding rental index if you've not seen it: http://gulfnews.com/business/property/dubai-rents-drop-in-2016-rera-index-1.1647903

...also be warned, they may not be prospective buyers but just more agents trying to advertise. At my previous apartment I let them take photographs of the place for 'the wife' or family member only to find that a few different agents used my lovely furniture set up to advertise the 'beautiful apartment' up for sale. I had viewings upon viewings, got sick of it. For the next lot of 'prospective buyers' I told them they cant take photos and either I can send it to them, or they go upstairs where an empty one of an identical apartment is. LOL.

I use goggle maps off my smart phone too, always handy to use when someone send your their pin location via whatsapp too :) A car charger for your smart phone is always handy to have too. Apps like this do drain your battery, so best to be prepared. If you buy another device, its also a case of yet another gadget to look after, and maintain....

Hi, I use Al Rostamani Exchange place (located in MOE and Ibn Battuta). I pay 40 dhs fee to transfer. And since I do not have their preferred bank (I think its standard charted) - I use santander in the UK 8 pounds is deducted on the other end. I also hand them my air miles card and collect points at the same time :)

I'm so disappointed to hear this, not bought mine yet. I am going to see what vendors I do use and calculate the savings based on them. If I make my money back on those at least, then I will buy the book, otherwise there's no point. I see the cost of the book has increased again too.

I only saw one or two a week or so ago in the kitchen and they were very small. Today I saw a bigger cockroach on my bedroom floor, and 4 ran away from under my kettle as soon as I picked it up. There's more now!! I need pest control recommendation please. How much am I expected to pay and how do I know they will use safe treatment methods. I have heard of case of poisoning and death caused by neighbours doing pest control, so I'm worried about who I should choose. HELP!

It was for some time back. My Dr tells me the sick leave certificates are issued by DED then and there and can not be backdated and when I ask her for a letter headed letter to document my genuine illness, which she had seen me for, she said 'No'! I need a certificate/report to say I was ill for the days I was off (2 days) and I am willing to pay for it too. What else can I do?

Please avoid this area of Dubai Marina, near Choithrams & the mosque. The traffic has backed up so bad it's affecting those coming from JBR. I can only just hear sirens (they've finally arrived) but can't see anything except huge trails of traffic that haven't moved since 6.30 and it's now just coming up to 8. Shame, the traffic police didn't understand a word I said in English :( when I called at 7.15. So I just hung up. I'm watching from my window. Poor people who've been sat in that and not moved. I'm not leaving till it's cleared. Is there a traffic report website or something where you can report such things. Not just to police but to all.

Yes, I've had the similar sort of scenario of short changing'>.... Especially when theyre trying to drop you somewhere where you have to get out in a hurry, I sat back in the taxi and said this is a 10 dhs note not a 20 .... (same colour) . I now ask for a receipt each time I take a taxi, so I have their taxi details, for just in case.

Kiehls!! Kiehls, kiehls, kiehls.... A little on the expensive side but for me its totally worth it. I use the whole range now and have already converted 6 people I know. If you haven't heard of it already, check the reviews on it. and this particular product, is something every woman should have: http://uk.spacenk.com/en_GB/midnight-recovery-concentrate/MUK200006357.html Amazing for line reducing, I've noticed the difference on my forehead :) http://uk.spacenk.com/en_GB/powerful-line-reducing-concentrate/MUK200000052.html Good luck in finding your perfect skincare. Btw, Kiehls in MOE inside Harvey Nichols will do a facial for you.

Now that I'm having trouble getting in touch with my opticians, its making me think more about laser eye surgery. I have googled it and one has come up, which looks like a good deal. Of course I understand that I should have a consultation, and I will. But this looks like a good offer and offers an installment plan. More importantly though, I need to know if anyone has used them. Tried to google reviews for them but nothing has come up. Typically the lady I spoke to over the phone, told me to check their website. She didn't understand that I wanted an independent review: http://lasik.lasereyecenter.ae/?gclid=CPbg4-mA3cgCFUUNcwodiMsCgA Your feedback on this or any other laser eye surgery place with costs also would be helpful. Thank you in advance. :nerd:

I've been doing mine at Health Avenue at Grosvenor house. Currently doing full legs, bikini and upper lip with amazing results. I still have a few sessions to go. Already done my underarms from years ago. I wish I'd done this years ago so I could have been hair free 24/7, but I'm glad I've waited till now as the group on offers helped me get it at bargain price ? Yes it hurts but as sessions take place the pain is less. I am an olive skin colour and the Ndyag machine works better for me than the Alexandrite. I love my silky smooth legs already, so so happy!!!

Apologies, maybe my post didn't read correctly. I meant that the results of the laser wouldn't be so effective. Is this true? I would rather use the cream. Although twice now I haven't.

My Dr has told me to avoid using Emla cream in order get the best results from my laser treatment. :( but ouch it hurts in some places. Telling me that the cream blocks the pores and so the results won't be so great. Does anyone know how true this is?? Tried to google it too, but no luck on answers.

Healthy Avenue Polyclinics, based on the ground floor of Grosvenor House are doing good offers. They posted some time back via Groupon but if you walk in and see them for a consultation, they have similar offers too. I am currently using them for my laser and am really happy with not just the results but the service and I feel comfortable knowing that they are fully qualified and experienced and will certainly give you value for money.

In all honesty do you have any idea how difficult and stressful it can be for some people to give up I tried when I wasn't pregnant and struggled. I would have hated to have tried while I was pregnant. Lots of people manage to quit smoking. I know many of them. Where there's a will, there's a way.... And if the health of your unborn child isn't enough of a reason... :brokenheart: I am the OP and I agree with your last comment. I am childless and if I happen to fall pregnant one day,I would do everything in my right mind to give my unborn child the healthiest start. And yes its none of my business, but it bothers me inside :broken heart: I pray that her baby is born healthy A sad story: I have a friend who was advised after 2 recurring miscarriages not to fall pregnant within the next 6 months at least. Well she fell pregnant had a successful birth to a healthy baby boy.....until she noticed after several months that his development was not as fast as what it should be (she has another child already) . A year later he has now been diagnosed with cerebal palsy. She says she regrets every single day of her life that she did not take the Drs advice :(

I used to live in 'Lake Terrace' by Damac Damac buildings are good quality. There is Zoom supermarket downstairs. Farooj chicken(fast food) also downstairs. Walk down the ramp to the metro station (very handy if you're not driving). A teeny walk away from Almas Tower, where there is a Gym. Almas Tower also has a Cafe Nerro, Subway, and Tim Hortons and a nice Shisha cafe/restaurant. I'm sure there are many more nice Towers but really loved it here.

I have not been there a very long time, but Abu Hail Center is a small mall which has other types of shops but an abundant amount of abaya shops. I am sure you will find some children's sizes as well as kandora's as well. Down the road towards and past the Al Mula Plaza, there are a number of other small plazas that sell abayas and the like. Same road, same side of street as Abu Hail Center. Good luck. Thank you so much for the advice. Much appreciated!!!! :)

The only time that the cheque "COULD" be written out to the real estate company is if its a sublet agreement between the owner and the real estate company. In that case both the owner and realestate companies names would be on the contract. I also do not advise to ever go with the above situation or you could be in the middle of a Max type scam (as I am!) Its a well known property management company (...been here for years...blah! blah! blah!....) :D . Logo pink and blue :) There is an agreement, but no POA. Cant be sure the signature is landlords though too. I know in the eyes of the law that both name on cheque and tenancy contract name of landlord should match but they are insistent that this is the way they manage the property.

Just to keep you all updated. The notice served to me was short of 365 days, hence the '12 months notice' which was served to me is actually deemed invalid. I have now left the rental cheque with the Rental Dispute Centre, assuming auto-renewal ......Let's watch this space. I will keep you posted on the outcome, but so far its looking good on my side. Why would it be invalid? Did they give you the reason at the rent committee? It seems that they didn't give the OP the required 12 month notice and gave it outside that time frame rendering it invalid When I went to the RC last month I was advised that a registered email/letter wasn't valid It had to be given by the land department and stamped with the reason on. Correct. The notice was a week late and funnily enough even though every article under the sun says notice should be served via notary public OR registered mail. The legal counsel looked at the letter (which was sent via registered mail only; no notary stamp) and smirked and just dismissed it :)
