Just to add to my original post. My tenancy contract says 'non-renewable' therefore I believe it is INVALID. The letter send via registered mail is signed by agent and is not the landlords signature, even though the letter is presented as though it is from the landlord with agent writing cc. and his name underneath. Is this valid? Again, still not a notarised notice but has been sent via registered mail.

Was he swimming without pool shoes or socks? It could be friction from the concrete surface of the pool if he was floating maybe in a life jacket and rubbing his feet along the bottom of the pool. If the skin is open put an antiseptic dressing on it, if not leave it in the open air to dry naturally and don't burst it and tell his mother to get him some pool swim shoes for next time as a precaution. hth Thanks so much, didn't even know there was such a thing as pool shoes/socks. Its not burst, but just concerned how he'll walk tomorrow. Do you suggest just leaving his feet sandal free?

I ditched mine for the same reason. I have been going to The Cure in Media City for several months now, they do not charge for gelish removal and are very good with manicure/pedicures. Bargain!! ;)

Ahh. Thanks ladies. Great to hear the true timelines. Can I also ask. Would they transfer my residence visa to my new passport? And is there a cost? <em>edited by Diamante on 09/05/2015</em>

I have just checked out of the Kingsbury today. I loved it. The pool is fab too. I haven't been anywhere else to be honest but I really liked this hotel. Plus it's within walking distance of the famous 'ministry of Crabs' a must visit place.

Can anyone recommend a supplier that will deliver such to the office on a regular basis and provide credit terms. Supplier is a local one and we seem to be getting really low quality service and low quality fruit etc.. <em>edited by Diamante on 06/04/2015</em>

I'm doing laser at Health Avenue Polyclinic located at the beautiful Grosvenor House. Absolutely amazed at the price difference from other salons. I dont think its fair to name the salon that quoted me AED 17'000 (I can see people have already said they're getting good results from there), I'm sure they offer a professional service and probably do a brilliant job. But I don't have that kind of money to spare for hair removal for the same areas I'm paying a fraction of that price (shocking) and I'm seeing good results. Absolutely professional service at Health Avenue, my consultation was long, as I had many questions, very friendly staff and made me feel so comfortable. I am really ecstatic that they are offering promotions right now too, so absolutely bonus. Highly recommended.

Sorry to hear you've lost it, but have you tried posting an ad on Dubizzle under the lost and found section. Also report it to the petrol station and leave your details, perhaps even the police. Hope its returned.

I know, scary thought. But I'm pretty sure landlords don't cover contents insurance, they may cover their building/property but doubt they cover contents. Surely thats the tenants responsibility??

Have you also seen the bottom loading dispensers. Theres a brand called 'Midea' in Carrefour and Sharaf DG and not only is it easier to load the bottle, without having to lift it up but it looks so much smarter without having that huge water bottle on show.

this gives me hope. But why then does every single article I read say 'notarised notice.....OR ..... registered mail'? :( I receive my notice via courier but it was just a letter, not a notarised notice, and did provide me with 12 months notice give or take a few days tbh. <em>edited by Diamante on 04/04/2015</em>

Try 'Micro', one of their stores located opposite emirates nbd bank (the one nearest ski dubai side) of MOE They sell US & UK versions WITH FaceTime. You'll pay a little extra for unlocked but so worth it to keep in touch with other FT users abroad.

I took them out for an amazing day on KiteBeach yesterday for the Dubai International Kit Fest....amazing day. I would recommend it if you haven't been to see the amazing kites. Its at the Beach behind Sunset Mall. Anyway, I think I've missed Ripe Market, as I believe its only Fridays, but is there anything else I could do today. I need a nice family day out, something a little different.... They're so done with all the usual sightseeing places, they come to Dubai often. Your ideas are welcome. Have a great weekend everyone, check out Kite Fest if you haven't been ;)

The National newspaper last year were offering a subscription offer of a 'free' entertainer book when you place an annual subscription to the newspaper. Anyone know if they plan to do it again this year? We are now approaching end of Jan, I've had no news yet.

I had a cloud 9 and loved it...BUT after less than a year it just stopped working. I didn't drop it or do anyting to cause damage it just wouldn't work one day. After some research it seems it's a common issue. So unless the company has done something to fix it I would not recommend bying it! Maybe do a bit of research before buying. I've heard some amazing things about the GlamPalm straightener so planning to get that next time round. Not tried it but reviews seem really great. If it's after less than a year then you're covered by warranty. If I've spent that money I'd definitely avail the warranty by contacting the company. I've also heard bad reviews about other (on par) straighteners, so I guess it's just pot luck :) I once contacted a company after I fell short of my warranty period, raved on about how good their product was and how disappointed I was that it stopped working. Guess what. They replaced it! :D <em>edited by Diamante on 12/12/2014</em>

Diamante it sounds very nice! According to you is it better than the original cloud 9? Is the automatic switch off function ok to use? I'm quite tempted reading the good reviews. Thanks again! Brilliant, you just simply walk away. It took me a few days to get used to. Was so paranoid. Lol. What I just love is: Leaves a silky shine to your hair Heats up super fast when switched on (when I say super fast I mean instantly) Alternative heat settings (but not buttons) simply click the straighteners together a few times - how cool!! :D Has hidden universal plug Heat guard to cover when hot and you want to pack away quickly (I'm always travelling). Heat mat (I just leave them on here when I'm done) The last two items mentioned I got from purchasing from this website. Not sure if it's part of the package elsewhere. There was a voucher code for first time members. I think it's like 20% off :D (FIRSTORDER) Happy Days!!!!!!! <em>edited by Diamante on 11/12/2014</em>

My best buy of the year: http://m.lookfantastic.com/cloud-nine-touch-iron/10870025.html I ordered it from here. And I googled the various discount voucher codes to get more discount. I think they deliver worldwide. Although I did ask for delivery in UK as I was due to visit on a business trip so managed to have it delivered to my friends :D Btw, Cloud nine C9 touch is amazing. I will never go back to GHD's. It heats up so much quicker and switches off as soon as you walk away. ;-) Everyone is complimenting me on the lovely shine in my hair. No serum needed ;-)

Where do you purchase your Travel Insurance from? I used to just Auto renew the one I had from the UK (and its kind of stopped now). I want to know if its any better bought from here, since I am a resident here and whether theres any difference to be honest. I'd like worldwide insurance for 2 adults, on an annual basis. Any recommendations on who I should contact?

I use The Cure, they're at Green Community and Media City. They don't charge me for removal of shellac, even if I just go for a polish change back to ordinary. Thank you for your recommendation, I had my Shellac done here today ;) and paid nothing to remove it. I dont think I will be paying over the odds at NStyle of this service any more. Shame, cuz I liked going there. But actually I paid 120 dhs more for the same manicure/pedicure than I did at The Cure.

YES of course GO TO RERA. We can't let landlords get away with this. :( Gets me angry every time I hear stories like this. Other poor tenants who have not sought advice just up & left. Trust me, RERA will give you the best advice. Fight for your rights. I did and I won!! Even if my tenancy came to me 10 days after expiry. :D

Hi there, Dont worry. Legally you are still allowed to live there. I had the same issue that even to the day and several days after my tenancy expired I still hadn't heard anything from landlord. RERA had assured me that by law i'm still allowed to stay there at least for another year anyway, even though the landlord was taking his sweet time. Please call RERA to confirm this just for your own assurance. :) From what I remember RERA do settle any issues if landlords are not accepting cheques and they can be taken to the RERA office, not sure if this is true of today. But please call them. As for looking for somewhere else to live you won't need to, by law he can not kick you out. Have a lovely weekend.

*******YIPPEEEEE!!!!******** I just got my renewed tenancy contract 3 days late mind. :D But its all good. Basically the landlord did not tell me or put it in writing of any kind of increase 90 days before the lease expired. After arguing with me ssaying she did tell me verbally I still stood my ground. I rang RERA a few times to clarify my rights and yes, if no 90 days notice given then no increase, despite if it is lower than market value and despite the rental index calculator. :D She tried to fight me to the end thinking i would give up, she even put the rent a little lower to what she initially quoted, neither one matched what the law says. So ….as expected I was told to come and sign my renewal and hand over the chq AND I was (surprise! surprise!) told that this is non renewable and i will be served with a one year notice; I was asked for my postal address for this purpose. It doesn't bother me, I did actually want to look elsewhere next year, but at least my rent is the same …..wooo-hoo!! Please do call RERA if you are unsure of anything; they really did help me & advise me well.

I agree with below, they can not evict you, see my earlier post. I repeat go straight to RERA. [b'> I have seen all the copies of title deeds and Dubai court papers that they have provided but I would never trust them, especially if they have their own bad history.[/b'> I would also stress the importance of ensuring you do not have spare keys floating about anywhere (i.e. with security/maid etc), just for your own assurance. What? You have seen all the paperwork for simpleplan's situation? Not quite ......but I've seen someone else's who has this notice and the several copies of dubai court papers that came with it. I'm pretty sure it's of the same tower in Dubai marina. As it's affecting a large number of properties in that building not just one or two. It could be legitimate but the people who are the 'new owners' are not to be trusted after the scam they pulled previously. So best to check with RERA. <em>edited by Diamante on 25/04/2014</em>
