Im not fortunate enough to use other airlines, EK are the only ones that go into Birmingham. Ive always found them to be expensive, so going back 2 years ago I bought a one way ticket out of here and now buy BHX-DXB-BHX, works out nearly half price from the UK. what a good idea! we live 10 mins from bhx airport so can also only use EK. If you plan your dates then flights can be a less as 404.00 quid, and if I need to change my flight from DXB it costs 75 quid, still cheaper than going from here. I live 10mins from BHX too!!! lol. edited by salsB on 17/04/2011 SNAP!! SalsB ;) I also live 10 mins from BHX. I've always bought EK tickets from BHX - DXB - BHX, from day one, 2 yrs ago. Just needs a lil planning, so you know when ur going home. I always get work to pay for the peak time ticket (eg July/Aug) :D; I only get 1 ticket but at least its something. edited by Diamante on 17/04/2011

Oh no! :( Thanks for the advice. I've now been on the net for a good location map, as never ventured out to Al Ain , and it'll just be the girlies in the car. I haven['t got a clue and cant find a good location map, or I can't understand the one I've found... I need a 'dummies guide' to Al Ain Zoo. Do I need to worry about window wipers being pulled off by cheeky monkeys, or anything of that sort. Is it like a safari park, where you can see them from your car?

Thanks for the pointer to Bare Escentuals, all. A foundation which glows, rather than me "glowing" - yes, definitely, sounds good to me! Is there sun protection in it as well? SPF 15 for the foundation. ;) Get a 'make under' done (as they call it), at Sephora and try it before you buy. See if YOU like it first.

Bare Escentuals mineral makeup Ditto. Adore it. Used to use Chanel Vitalumiere but switched to Bare Escentuals last year, and it's proven a fantastic coverage in the Dubai humidity. Even when it feels like you're dripping like mad [!!'> the make-up stays perfect; it glows. I would advise going for the whole kit though; the base gel, then the powders and then the bare minerals 'top coat'. Makes for a longer-lasting look. ETA: The gel to use before applying the powders is called Prime Time, and the 'Illuminating Veil' is what I use to finish off. Looks gorgeous, a tiny bit sparkly, but not like you're about to hit a dance floor. :D . edited by WaxMuch on 22/03/2011 AGREE!!! :) LOVE IT!!!! I don't think I'll ever go back to using Liquid foundation on my face again. I used liquid for almost 15 years, before this popped up on the shelves. Best invention ever. This has done wonders for my skin. I've noticed the difference. I barely wash it off at night, get too lazy, and I still don't get ANY breakouts whatsoever by doing that.

Have you got Coke? Try pour a can of that in and leave it a while and see if it works! Worked a treat for ours after plunging for days and using 4 bottles of drain cleaner ;-) Will pepsi do? :D I'm off to try it now. How long is 'a while'??

Sorry that it seems I've put you wrong Diamante, but I purchased a nude slip from there last summer and its far from see-through, absolutely does it job! Perhaps its different stock now. Good luck in your hunt..... No, thats fine :) Most definitely must be different stock, as it was definitely see-through :( Back to the drawing board.

Woolworths has a good selection; white, nude or black, in different lengths. They are quite reasonably price too from memory - around 40dhs? edited by Pomegranate on 19/03/2011 Yes, did come across these today. But they were really see-through; defeats the whole object of having a 'blackout' lining for under summer skirts. Off to Etam now, otherwise will have to fork out the 110 dhs at M&S.

Max in Ibn Battuta has half slips in nude and black. Very nice material and price. Went in to Max in Ibn Battuta, they don't have any slips at all in the shop. Can you tell me which Max it was you saw them in please. Btw, can anyone tell me where I can find an Etam.

Am I imagining it or is one of the lakes actually looking 'kinda blue? The lake I'm talking about is the one at the back of Reef, Armada & Saba 2 & 3 Towers (also known as Lake B) Can anyone who is closer to it confirm. I'm looking from my balcony (I'm in Cluster D) and from a distance its definitely not looking that yukky green colour any more. :) edited by Diamante on 19/03/2011

Finally went to the play area behind saba 3. the downfall its a bit small and to think how many children there is in JLT. Had kids at the age of 10 yrs on climbing frames and hogging the swings. Though they should of made it bigger and have few more round JLT. The amount of kids that were there on Monday I was so worried my DD would be trampled on. I could tell it was too small. But according to the landscaping plan, there will be 6 play areas, dotted around JLT.

I've never been, so I don't know. I'm waiting to go with my parents when they come over. Can someone please tell me when is the best day and the best time for them to book; they will be here from this friday to next friday.

It is Saba 1. The one near Al Shera Tower; near Park n Shop. The one nearer JLT metro station. (As Saba 2 & 3 are near Marina Metro station). edited by Diamante on 06/03/2011 No, it's the Saba twin towers (plot Q). if you're walking to it from the Al Seef or Green Lakes towers it's the next plot after Q Mart/Chidas Mart. I've seen the one near Al Shera tower but don't know if that one is open yet. Sorry! My bad. Didn't realise there were 2 play areas, AND a coincidence that both are located near a Saba Tower, both at either ends of JLT, no wonder I got it wrong. :)

Please be careful. If you get a phone call from someone from Etisalat saying that you have won dhs500,000, please do not give any information out. THIS IS A SCAM. They were asking me loads of questions and when I refused to give them anything and threatened the police, they became very abusive and obscene. If they call please just put the phone done. Take care ladies x Yep got this call to one of our company mobiles from a mobile number; he gave a very 'arabic' name and even told me his job title and the dept he was calling from, I wasn't so easily convinced. When I threatened the police he was very rude (to say the least). When I rang Etisalat they told me to call the police and file a report because they can't do anything. I'm sorry but Etisalat don't want to do that, then I'm certainly not wasting my time to do that either. Etisalat, did mention they would never ring anyone from a mobile.

as an alternative - can you get whatever it is you would wear the slip under lined at the tailor? I think this is more comfortable and looks better I did think of that but I have just bought quite a few long skirts, so makes sense to have the one slip :)

Yep, I found out the hard way too!!! The DVLA sent a fax confirming my UK licence so at least I have managed to get a UAE one however it was made very clear by the person I spoke to at DVLA that I would no longer be able to have a UK licence. I've just checked the DVLA website, and you can drive on your UAE one in the UK for a year, after which you have to take a test (the UAE one is not transferable). The moral of this story is that if you have a UK address, please keep the photocard updated!!! I wish I had! I have a UK address; I have a place I call 'home' there :) Does that count? I found this: 'To obtain a driving licence from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), you will also need to have a permanent address in England, Scotland or Wales.' on this link: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Motoringtransactions/BeforeyouapplyC/DG_10035602

My best friend is due back from her home country with her new baby. I want to decorate her place for her & the lil one. Husband hasn't got a clue what to do, I had to tell him to go get her some flowers at least. Anyway, I want to buy some banners, like "new baby' and 'welcome home' and decorate the room with a couple of helium ballons. All pretty in pink. Any ideas where I can get reasonably priced decorative stuff like this in New Dubai area (pereferably). Need quick answer, as she's arriving on the weekend.

Angsana with the vouchers is good. I also enjoy Feet First but only in Town Centre. Had bad experiences in Dubai Mall and JBR. Another one is the home service from Chez Toi. 200AED for one hour and they come to your place. But the FF in IBN isn't bad. I aint complaining. Love the heated lavender pillow during massage. :)

I googled it and apparently there is a lot of confusion since in the UK, Queens are bigger, in US Kings are bigger. So tell me, if I want to buy the bigger :) bed in Dubai, which one am I supposed to go for? Also, is it any different if you buy the bed from IKEA! Help! I'm confused.
