I recently got the one which is called Blu - I think they sell in pharmacies and I got mine from a stand in Ibn Battuta which sells Blu products, one of the stands in the middle of the mall rather than a proper shop. So far am really impressed with it, it is not only a filter but also has vitamin pods inside which also make the water scented so it smells a bit lemon-y. I hadn't noticed a hair loss problem but my friend had and she has been using hers for a few months and has started to notice new hair growth, I just bought mine because I figured that if it was doing that for her hair then it would be good for mine too! My hair definitely feels softer since I have been using it and my showers smell lovely! :) Edited to add that it sounds like the same one that sarahloudxb has. edited by dibdab on 13/10/2011

My friend has bad problems with her knees, however a few months ago started to see a personal trainer and he has worked with her to build up strength in them and she is starting to be able to do things that she has not been able to for years. Unfortunately she is in Hong Kong so I can't recommend the trainer but she is absolutely amazed that she is able to do so much that she wasn't able to before but even then she was still able to do a lot of different types of exercise that didn't impact on her knees. Also, her husband is a very good swimmer and ex water polo player and has trained her to do various types of exercises in the water - I did one of the sessions with her and was exhausted so it was very good exercise and not a problem for the joints at all. So I think it is definitely worth looking for a good personal trainer who has experience of this kind of thing rather than just one who is into fat burning.

I would try calling a GP or hospital and see what they recommend - or even 999 if someone is in imminent danger.

Would love to plan a long weekend away but we have no leave left and seeing as the days off will be announced at the last minute it looks like we won't be able to :-( So I had better get thinking of ideas of things to do in the UAE not involving hotels as I am sure they will all be extortionate!

We went in May and had a great time, we went in the afternoon and bought vodka by the bottle with mixers so we didn't have to brave the bar later on, when we arrived at 4ish it wasn't too busy at all so we were able to put towels down and sit on the sand. The dress code seemed to be anything goes during the day (beachwear etc) but when the sun went down they seemed to be asking people to cover up a bit - still totally casual but men had to put their t-shirts on and women weren't allowed to wear bikinis. I didn't see anyone peeing in the sea, that is gross! I didn't have any problems with queues for the toilets at all, I had to wait for a max of 5 minutes each time which I totally expected. I can't actually remember how much a beer was but I think that the vodka was 500 or 600 per bottle and that included a few cans of mixers.

Go to your list of friends by going to your profile and clicking on 'friends' above where the list is on the left. It will bring up a full page list and to the right of each person's name isa box which says 'Friends' and a tick. Hover over the box and it brings up a list - at the bottom of the list is 'Unfriend'.

My American friend also had this dilemma. I can't speak for the healthcare as she delivered in Abu Dhabi but other things that she was considering were that if there were any kind of post pregnancy complications then she may have ended up delayed in the US and her husband would have had to return for work and therefore the family would be separated at what is an important time for bonding. Also she did not like the idea of staying with family as wanted to be able to feel completely at home in her own surroundings without too many people fussing around. And of course she would have had to return to the US further in advance of the birth than her husband in case of early arrival therefore travelling alone - and also then there is the risk of the husband missing the birth. I think that for her she felt that in the end it was much simpler to stay in the UAE and she was glad she did, she was pretty happy with the healthcare and I think the only issue was that an Arab lady who she was sharing a room with complained about her husband being in the room so he was asked to leave which I thought was very sad just after she had given birth. But if you could get a private room then that wouldn't be an issue.

I have been for the last 2 years - the first time I was expecting the traffic to be an absolute nightmare so we set off very early but the organisation (unusually for this place) was fantastic and there was hardly any queue to get into the car parks or out again at night - however you do have to have a car park pass which I think is issued if you buy a certain number of tickets. If you don't have a car park pass I don't know if there is anywhere nearby that you can park. There are park and rides from some places along SZ Rd I think. Having said that, my dad comes to visit for the F1 and is a massive fan so we usually get there early in the day to watch all of the non F1 races as well. Not sure whether it is worse close to the F1 race. It also depends which car park you are in and how far away it is from the circuit because some are a 5 minute walk and other are 10 mins on a shuttle bus.

Well I don't have kids but I do have a husband who wants healthy lunches, wants variety but does not like vegetables, total nightmare! I REALLY struggle to make things - I am happy to make his lunches as am making my own but I just can't think of any ideas and I know he gets bored of having the same things all the time. He pretty much gets pasta with pesto and turkey bacon, pasta with mackerel, microwave savoury rice with chopped frankfurters (not in the healthy category I know) or leftovers of whatever we had the night before. I am OK with snacks as he has cereal bars, yogurt, bananas, rice cakes but the main bit I am out of ideas, sounds like most of your kids are easier to please!

I started this on Friday and I still can't walk!! I haven't done it since as have been in so much pain but I think I will force myself tonight and try to do it every day, I would love to see results. I am so surprised at how much it hurts, it was 20 minutes 3 days ago! Amazing.
