that's a very good price. do they pack and unpack too? help with hanging of curtains, tv etc? all of that should be included, if you want them to do that.

and after all that, once you're back in dubai, the first thing we always hear is "when will we see you again?" ffs, do you think our flights are for free? do you think it's cheaper to fly from here to there, than it is flying from there to here? we save for those flights, i suggest you do the same. arghhhhh

sue62, i totally get what you are saying. however, we go through the same every year and end up returning from our annual "leave" utterly exhausted. for the past 6yrs or so we have decided enough is enough. dh works loooong hours (so do i) and we want to ENJOY our annual leave. we now fly parents out & assist with siblings airfare - that's it - because for them dubai is a vacation. our annual leave is now spent travelling the world. our true friends are not offended by this at all, in fact, they fly out and meet us at different destinations and we have the best vacations. the times we do go home, we send a mass email to say we'll be at X restaurant on such and such a date, if you're there it'll be great to see you, if not, we understand everyone's busy. good luck meals & try to have a good vacation x

I can understand the need for a degree for many positions, however, I saw an advertisement for a lawyers receptionist that required applicants to have a degree. I was a police officer for thirty years and held a responsible/supervisory position prior to leaving. I find it frustrating that I can't even apply for a job answering phones and directing people to their appointments. It's difficult trying to find work but I guess we just need to keep looking!! i would apply for the job nonetheless. a good friend of ours is quite high up in HR and he recruits from all over the world. the stories are unbelievable. guys submit cvs with a list of 'degrees' as long as my arm, when they are asked to elaborate on their thesis or subjects majored in etc (not a difficult question if what you have is worth something) he gets blank stares. some 'degrees' are not worth the paper its written on, and some companies ask for 'degrees' because in some countries it is the equivalent to having finished high school. good luck to all of you!

i'm a pajero fan. - services are cheap & easy and they guys at the service centre are usually very accommodating. - when you sign the papers at the bank, all costs, interest, admin fees etc are included. you buy a car for 100k (example) but sign hp papers for 127k (example) - which means everything's included. - all showrooms are on SZR - some in rashidiya i think. cars you cant haggle on. the price you see is the price you pay. perhaps you can negotiate a cd changer or something like that but usually nothing on the price. - driving an fj cruiser is like walking around with a bad haircut :D edited by dikane on 30/05/2011

my OB didnt even take family history details. i've had several miscarriages, the first in the family, and only after the 2nd one did my OB start doing tests. we've exhausted all avenues, been for second opinions etc, but after several more miscarriages absolutely nothing can be found 'wrong'. it's life and certainly not part of MY family history. get yourself onto folic acid immediately and eat healthy. no smoking or drinking - obviously - but in general just listen to your body. and if you still feel uncomfortable, find another doctor. your health and peace of mind is most important. congratulations with your pregnancy!

i agree. these things arent healthy. put yourself on portion control, cut out sugar and simple carbs - eat only complex carbs - stop with fizzy drinks and you'll see a difference. and get off that couch! LOL good luck, you CAN do it without 'magic' pills x

I am so fed up of house-hunting and I've been doing it for all of two days. And DH is driving me up the wall. He saw you can get a 4-bed in JVC for 95k so now he thinks anything above this is ludicrous money, never mind the fact that JVC appears to be a row of houses in the middle of a construction site. Anyone live in Waha or Layan? Any good? Maybe I should do a search. there are really nice places in JVC. there's a white 'complex' with big blue glass windows - amazing - with your own private pool - i think it's called westar properties or something like that. really worth looking at. the diamond view VILLAS (not apartments) are gorgeous! and you can get a 3 bed with a massive family room + huge terrace for 90k. and the gardens are just big enough for a little one to play in but small enough to cope with gardening. gate 10 entrance is really not that bad. once you know where you're going, you're set. there are 2 sets of supermarkets and laundries at opp. ends of the development. access to dubai is pretty easy with the d611 road (bridge into tecom) and i know they are working on another entrance via emirates rd.

thanks simpleasabc. i have also been unable to carry full term, we're trying one more time though ;) I do hope it turns out well for you in the end. I think what got to me most was the nonchalance with which other women could decide to have a child, have a successful pregnancy and plan to have another one whenever they wanted to! It is such a privilege and not to be taken for granted! spot on. thanks x

apparently it's the highest grossing movie of all times, even over-taking harry potter. dont really know why. it was too long imo. and yes, a lot of the times i took my 3d glasses off as there werent many scenes in 3d and those glasses makes me dizzy.
