3 years?? oh my, you are very patient..! When this happened to me a while ago, I managed to 'suffer' for 3 months only. And it was honestly the worst months I can remember. I knew I would be leaving but had to stay in for money reasons. When I look back, I wish I'd just quit it as I did not need money that much. Stop thinking, just do it. It's your life and you are obviously worth better. First, ensure you have enough money to live for some 6 months I would say. Then, you also have to consider an option when you can't find a job in these 6 months. So you have to be prepared well financially and morally and just be determined and keep on going. As for me, I think the most important thing would be having enough money so I don't feel stressed about it, being able to pay the rent etc. Totally agree about LinkedIn, also would suggest putting your CV on the job search sites like bayt.com, gulftalent.com, and others. I was approach by some agents through these websites and not LinkedIn. The last thing you should be thinking about is bad luck! Just believe in yourself and don't let bad thoughts come to your mind. Good luck!

I would go into Nine West store here and check what's written on the shoe box of your size as sometimes different brands do their own conversion (I've seen size 8UK being 11US or 8UK=10US)

Proactiv Clear Zone Body Pads (75pads AED140) are good for shoulders and back. I use it for my face instead, once or twice a week before I go to bed. Might not be suitable for the OP though as it is very strong

And the pool is pretty small. I mean in the pictures on their website it does look great but the reality is different. When we went there there were no spare sunloungers (weekend) so we had no choice but to go back to the room which actually was the only thing i liked about this place

So I made an amazing dinner.. DH comes home, says hi, and goes to watch the telly. I go and try to speak to him but he just puts his hand towards me and says: a minute, a minute.. Why do men have to be such as****s?????? I had the dinner on my own, with a glass of wine.. while he kept on watching the telly. His dinner is still in the kitchen because he is too proud now to go and get it. Too bad, it was yummy :(

Well if your LL has told you that this is the time to raise any concerns, then do so. You never know, the new LL may give you notice as soon as they buy it anyway. Don't forget to make them take their shoes off when entering (carpet or not), and follow them around, and make sure that they do not sit down anywhere. They can have their discussions elsewhere. Totally agree with CA I was going through the same situation last year and I was very strict with the agents (we had a different agent coming every time). I would ask people to take their shoes off as soon as I opened the door, also would follow them to every room. I was also asked to show the wardrobes couple of times and I refused as it's my stuff in there, it is not that they are viewing an empty flat, right? I bet if anyone came to their lace they wouldn't want this to happen either. They have never ever sat on the sofa. I would have never ever allowed that to happen anyway even if they'd aske for it.;) Finally, I was never asked about any problems in the flat...so not sure you would get a chance to talk about it. But if you constantly have a problem with the AC and if your LL is paying for the maintenance of it, I would mention it as you would want the new buyer to keep on paying for it I guess. I think you can even talk about the security in the building, it is not about your flat but general stuff and lets say I would like to know such things if I was to buy a place.

You can take metro, Piccadilly line, all the way to Kings Cross/St Pancras station but it will take you over one hour, something between 1 and 1.5hrs I would say, depending on what time you are travelling. You could also take Heathrow express to Paddington st and then Hammersmith line I think (you can double check on www.tfl.co.uk) which might be faster...if there are no problems on the tube line ;) Another option would be to take Heathrow Express to Paddington and then get a cab. But this would be the priciest option.

Ugh BBM is an absolutely killer for a relationship. Men get complacent and think they can just message you instead of actually picking up the phone or meeting you and having a meaningful encounter. I would stop replying so quickly which I know is hard since you want to maintain that contact but if things continue then you risk having a pure BBM relationship (and how many other ladies does he have on BBM that he chats to?) Try to wean him off the bad habit by using it only for transactional purposes - tell him you're at home for him to call, or to arrange to meet up. The more "real" encounters you have, the less he should rely on this messaging service to reach you and the more he will get to know the real you. I don't know how many arguments / misunderstandings have occurred in couples due to messages being taken the wrong way or misread. It's great for a bit of flirty chat but not a substitute for a proper convo. It does sound like he likes you tho :) Be aloof, be busy and let him chase!! Like!

So you met this guy only once...then he goes on to a business trip and you start calling him? I understand, you care for him but the guys think differently: too earger, desperate, invading his space, etc As you said, you are not even dating him yet. Stop chasing him. Take it easy and don't expect too much. Go on more dates, do something together. You need to learn about this guy, who he is and how he is.

Hi, has anyone had their car Vkool'ed recently and could tell me where you have had it done? Also, have they done the front window for you? I have called Vkool and been told that they can do the front window with a clear tape. Then I rang 3M and been told that the front window isn't allowed, even with a clear tape. So now I am confused.:) Many thanks! P.S. sorry for typo in the subject line! <em>edited by Div on 24/06/2012</em>

I'd like to thank you all lovely ladies for your advice. Went to BAS over the weekend and had amazing time there. Loved the hotel, the staff were great, really helpful and polite. Nothing was missing in the room, only had to ask for a bigger size of their slippers but this was delivered within 5 min. We had a couple of drinks in the sunset bar - great place with live music. Then had a dinner at the arabic restaurant - have to say I was a bit disappointed with this one. I think it is really expensive (425pp) even if you use the Entertainer voucher as it's food only. The evening show they have wasn't great either: the music was too loud, and then each of the performers makes their way to your table at some point so that their photographers could take pictures. I found it very intrusive, so every time I saw a performer coming down the stage, I would make my way to the food counter to avoid it ;) The coctails in the pool bar were great, as was the burger ;) The overall experience was great, it wasnt too hot either, we spent most of the time floating in the pool or in the shade. Will definitely go back there again!

I had a breakout on my forehead recently. Went to the pharmacy and the guy told me to buy this soap: acne-aid. It was dhs 20-25 only and I can tell you honestly, all was gone in 3-4 days. I used it morning-evening. Now I use it only on the days when I do sports outdoors, just wash my face afterwards with this soap. Just think 'skin oil+sweat+dust'..can't be a good combination in these hot days! :) Also check that your moisturiser/foundation/etc is oil-free or at least non-comedonic. Good luck!

I agree, the OP should have said something as there were 2 other women in the car. I think it's very easy to comment and judge when we hear such a story, however, it is not so easy to tell the taxi driver to shut up when you are in his car. I was once in a taxi going somewhere at the back of the industrial area, and the taxi driver would keep on turning back and looking up and down at me salivating. It was gross but I was too scared to do anything as we were in the middle of nowhere, and I just wanted to reach my destination and go!. Oh, and there was no sticker on the window. You think I asked him for a receipt? I just wanted to get out of the car and never see him again! Since the incident I promised myself I won't be scared next time and would call RTA asap but hopefully it never happens again.

They are still making both models. The difference will be in the size of the fuel tank: 87L with the spare tyre underneath, 150L - spare tyre on the back door. not sure the fuel thing is correct Div as we have a hidden spare tyre (wish mine was too lol) and we can get 150L in the tank. I can only tell you what I see in the brochure comparing all Prado models ;) The model which has got a fuel tank of 150litres is the one with the tyre mounted on the back door. HTH lol sorry - am thinking AED - it costs about 150 to fill it up from empty! My apologies That's what I thought but didn't want to sound rude hehe :)

Thanks all. From all the threads I remember that the landlord has to give us 12 months notice if he wants us out, however, is it the same if he wants to move in himself and lets say can prove he would be living here? It is our first year in this apartment but the landlords have changed. Despite our old landlord telling us that the purchase was purely for investment as far as he knew, we now think the new guy may want to move in. Do you think we can stay here for another year?

I just wasn't sure whether we have a renewable or non-renewable contract as the conditions doesn't state clearly and the only thing I remember from the agency that we need to give 90days notice if WE want to move out wich we obviously do not want to. It is our first year of renting in this place, too.

I bought my daily ones (True Eye) from Vision Express. They had a deal 'buy 3 get 1 free', so I got 4 boxes and paid for 3. The price for 4 boxes was AED 495 which is GBP82 = £41 for 30pairs which makes it a bit cheaper than the Feel Good Contact lenses as you pay extra for the shipping. Unless you buy for 6months or more I guess I also bought Acuvue Oasys (6 lenses per box) and paid AED 340 for two boxes (3month supply). No special deals here and so...way more expensive than the Feel Good ones ;) I thought I would just write down the prices here if anyone is interested. I also use DaySoft contact lenses - their price is unbeatable while the quality is similar (same?) to the big brands If anyone else buys the first two brands in Dubai and knows where to buy it cheaper, please let me know. Thanks

I've only heard that they change your account if you do not meet their criteria which apparently is AED 300/350k deposited in your account. Why not calling their Premier banking number and asking who your relationship manager is? Or you could go into the branch where they have premier banking and ask there.

It's opposite the yacht club... if you drive towards the Marina Mall on SZR, just drive on SZR past it and take the last exit to Marina/JBR. You know you have reached Marina Promenade buildings when you see a Golden Fork restaurant on the corner - B&S is in the same building but on the marina walk. HTH

You could go to Barcelona or Valencia.. both have a beach and amazing nightlife. Or one of the Greek islands. I am liking Greece, havent been for many years and need to know the areas to avoid i.e Malia! I have only been to Mykonos - party island! I think there are direct flights to couple of islands now, however, you could also fly into Athens, do the sightseeing bit (the city is deserted in August) and take a ferry the next day to whichever island you want. It's really easy.

Sorry to gate crash , has anyone had the family brunch there on a Friday? Is it nice for kids there to stay or is it more adult place Tia It's a great place for kids, the pool is fantastic and they have a little kids' club depending on the age of your kids. When we were there they had camel rides, badminton, horseshoes, kite flying, archery etc. for kids although it was Eid so they may not be usual activities on normal weekends. Generally a kid-friendly place though. We don't have kids so looking for something rooo-man-tic (like!) rather than kid-friendly :)

Why don't you try myfitnesspal.com or something similar? you put your info in and it tells you how much calories you can consume a day, and how much calories you should burn in the gym, depending on your target for weight loss. It teaches you discipline and calorie control. It's all about healthy eating and exercise regime. Personally I always try to burn 400 cals in the gym (45-50mins workout).

I would stop corresponding with him at all. Send him an email saying you would be only dealing with the owner. That's it, nothing else: don't answer any of his previous questions, don't make any comments. If he ever tries calling you - tell him you would report him. He is not an owner yet so can't just do what he's doing. In the meantime, get the printout of his email, your contract, and go to see RERA. By the way, how did he get hold of your email address and phone number??

Right then, I went through this recently and spent a great deal of time talking to RERA and the agent and the LL. So, here goes. If the LL wishes to sell the property he must first offer the sale of the property to you first. Then should you decline he can then advertise and sell the property. However, the LL has to give you 12 months written notoce by public notary should he wish to sell. If he does this and you have signed another contract then the new LL must keep you on as a sitting tennant. If he wishes to evict you, again he has to give you 2 months notice BUT this only counts if he needs to repair any structural damage to the property. IF he wants to move in himself or sell the proprty he has to give you 12 months written notice. Basically, he can not do what he is doing now. I would suggest that you ask him to seek advise from RERA and come back to you with another plan. Our LL sold his apartment but he never offered the sale to us. We were only informed about the sale by a text message/phone call, and then sent a paper with the new LL's details. We were only advised that the apartment would be sold with the tenancy agreement and it would not affect us. JC11 - are you sure there is this regulation about 12months notice if you want to sell? Don't think they would do this in Dubai..but you never know!

I've been using La Roche Posay for 5yrs now. I had tried Avene first, but it did not have any visible results so I had to search for other solutions. I'm very please with La Roche Posay products. Stock up abroad if you get a chance, else Boots do have sometimes 3for2 deal. I think you do need to buy the whole line, why don't you get a moisturiser first and see if you like it.
