I have them too! Had my house sprayed by pest control (inside and out) twice in the last two weeks and they are still appearing. I think they are small ants - sugar ants? i don't have any food exposed, it's all sealed and has been for years. They seem to be traveling through the walls. Not sure how to get rid of them, I'm going crazy inspecting every nook and cranny of my house all day, spray in hand to 'shoot' them on first sight!! Any advice would be great....

Why are so many women knocking the book? Is it because they actually really enjoyed it, got a 'kick' out of it but feel embarrassed or wrong by doing so? Just accept it for what it is. It is soft p0rn for women. It is not meant to be a piece of literary art work, nor is it trying to be. Just as we all loved watching Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing Top Gun etc. it's a bit of escapism and nothing more. Relax ladies.....

Ausiemango , irregular meals can equate to blood sugar problems wich can lead to aggrivated symptoms during the day. Re traditonal mummying/childhood - its hard to explain what I mean given that there is so much potential for mis-understanding what I mean but I really do believe that routine, a sense of our children knowing where they are in day and what they are doing next lack of surprise/sudden change- all contribute to security for the children which in return benefits them. I know that could be autism I'm talking about but these things can all be fitted under the same umberella and as such can benefit from the same approaches - approaches that I use and I'm quite often told are old fashioned :D My friend and me both found we were parenting the children in very similair ways even though they are very different. She once said to me - god I'm turning into my mum. I think I may have quite inadvertantly opened a can of worms :) edited by DesertRose1958 on 21/03/2012 edited by DesertRose1958 on 21/03/2012 edited by DesertRose1958 on 21/03/2012 I totally agree with you, My son struggles with a sudden change of routine and in fact he thrives on his routine! Not that we are 'Sergent Major' like with him but we definitely notice a difference if we stray from it without proper warning and time to adjust. His teacher commented the same too. Fortunately my DH and I are quite old school when it come's to parenting so it wasn't hard for us to be like this LOL! I don't care if I'm old fashioned, my children are relatively well behaved and it works for us.

Hi aussiemango and desert rose - thank you so much for your replies. I'm so sad to hear your stories and have tears in my eyes, not just for what your sons are going through but also with an element of relief that I'm not on my own. Yes I would love to meet up with you and talk about it, it would be great to start our own support group. Also to read the book on natural therapies as my son is now on medication and I can't say that I am entirely comfortable with it. aussiemango I have got your e-mail address now so you can take it down. I will e-mail you today. Desert Rose - can I have your e-mail address too? Thank you all again so very much x

Hi Doodles, my son has Tourette Syndrome, he was diagnosed not long after we arrived in Dubai. How old is your son? and who did the diagnosis? I remember how distressing it was to go through because diagnosing Tourette syndrome is done by ruling out everything else. We had to go through an MRI and all sorts of tests first to make sure it wasn't a tumour etc and yes I will never forget the heart-wrenching moments of those days. I would say the first year was the hardest and we also floundered because we felt quite alone in our journey. I am really happy to help anyway I can. We are now over 3 years since the diagnosis and I feel DS is managing his tourettes extremely well, he is in secondary school now. Hi Stardust, thank you so much for replying! I am very sorry that your son is going through this but it is very re-assuring to hear that he is managing well. My DS is 7 and was diagnosed by the neurologist here in Dubai last year (too many details to discuss on here). I would love to talk to you more about it, would it be possible to e-mail you? Would you mind giving me your e-mail address or i can give you mine. It is a lonely journey and not an easy one, especially for my DS. I want to jump into his little body and take it away from him. Thank you again Stardust x Got it, you can take your address down now, will e-mail you tomorrow - thanks again Thanks Doodles - but you will need to edit your post too to remove my email ;) Done it but it's still showing on one of them?? edited by Doodles on 20/03/2012

how about talking to your Dr, see if he has any other patients that he could pass your details on to.... ...I tried that too, but the doctor doesn't want to pass on any information between patients due to confidentiality.

Thank you Sandy Dogg, I have seen these but i don't think any of them have anything in Dubai, it seems to be Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. I really wanted to find some body in Dubai that we could easily meet for coffee etc. However, I really appreciate you finding this information for me :)

Hi, Is anyone affected by Tourette's Syndrome? My DS has been diagnosed and I would really like to find other families out here that are going through the same thing as us. Perhaps we can be of support and strength to each other and our children could find some common ground together. So far I haven't found any type of support group in Dubai but I am sure there must be other sufferers here as it affects 1 in 1000 children/adults. This is a long shot but I really hope to find some support for my son. Thank you

I have to disagree with the positive comments about Dr Amer, sorry ladies! I took my son to see him and he totally misdiagnosed him and in fact showed a total lack of knowledge of one of the mental health problems children can be affected by (knowledge he should have had!). I left the consultation with him feeling like I was to blame for my sons condition, that I was a bad mother and that all of his other symptoms were in my head! If i had listened to Dr Amer my son would now be on medication that he doesn't need, in therapy that wouldn't have helped and i would probably need therapy too! Thankfully he has now been correctly diagnosed and we are dealing with it accordingly. Sorry to have negative comments about someone who seems popular but i thought I should give another side.

i recently stopped for 2 months and 9 days and then smoked again - and have since been smoking again; am currently on my last pack of fags and tomorrow inshallah will stop again. I have heard that after the first year it's ok. I have been smoking 24 years (god that ages you doesn't it) Good luck. After the pain of not smoking for over 2 months why did you go back to it after coming so far? I'm interested to know so i can look out for the warning signs and try not to do that. I really want to stop BUT i really want to have a cigarette too. It feels like I've lost my mate (sad I know!).

Firstly, nothing is really 'cheap' here. You can get 'cheaper quality' things from lots of outlets. Crockery would be fine to buy here but I'd bring your own bedding with you as the cheap quality is VERY cheap quality and I wouldn't want to sleep in it! We brought all our electrical things with us (from the UK) and it has all been fine, nothing has blown in 3 years. Personally I would bring as much of your own things with you as possible. It is expensive moving and to be buying all new things once you're here will soon add up. Also, remember it's VERY hot right now so make sure you have lots of cotton and linen clothing. Good luck with your move!

My DH has a problem with his sciatic (not sure if that's spelt right) nerve. He is on tablets from the doctor and has had an x-ray but it doesn't seem to be getting much better. Does anyone know if going to an Osteopath would help? Or is it just a case of time healing... Please help, it would make my life so much easier if he wasn't in pain LOL!! Thanks! sciatic???

Anyone had any dealings with Dr Magdi at the Manchester Clinic? I had some work done with him and the crown he did after the root cananl isn't fitted properly, not sure if I should go back to him to fix it or try Dr Madhu instead...

I always get bitten. Have you tried a good mozzie repellant? It might be worth trying that for a day/night to see if it makes a difference. I use moustidose, it is really good. If you are just getting bitten when you are in bed could be bed bugs, if call someone out and they will sort it for you. I second Moustidose, also the after bite cream is good too.

I'm loving AI too! I really don't like Paul, I think his funny little dances are just a bit too far. Really love Scotty and Lauren. Pia is very samey samey. There's nothing different about her and I think she's quite boring, no wow factor or anything interesting. Casey is amazing and definitely worth the save. Pleased to see Thia and Niama go. farasha202 - I agree, it drives me mad too that J-Lo constantly talks over Randy, she doesn't do it ST. But ST just thinks everything is 'beautiful'. I didn't think the show missed Simon during the earlier rounds but it really is now. All of the judges are too nice and seem to be scared to be the bad guy and be controversial. It is getting boring but I'll still watch it just in-case.... Anyone else think Ryan looked awful last week? What was with the side parting and that terrible suit? He looked like Hitler! edited by Doodles on 05/04/2011 ...to add - we down load it from the internet the day after it's aired in the US and you don't get any of the adverts, just one continuous programe. edited by Doodles on 05/04/2011

We have artificial grass around our pool area and it looks lovely. We went for the 'cheaper' option and bought it from Dragon-mart, then my husband laid (with special glue to fix, available from ACE) it on top of the concrete. It's been down over a year now and still looks new, it does get hot in the summer but like a previous poster said - so does everything. We wash it down with the hose once a month and that seems to be enough. It may not last as long as the other, more expensive companies - time will tell, but we reckon it will out last our time in this villa....

I used to pay a fortune for face creams - probably been through all of the top names, Estee Lauder, Lancome etc. But I honestly don't think you can beat L'Oreal Revitalift. I use the eye cream and face cream every day and love it. Wouldn't spend my money on any thing else now. Just my experience, hope that helps!
