Where I moderate we ban dups :D If you're banned you are banned for good ;) what are dups ? Be careful posting about your other forum - I know someone who has been banned from here permanently because of her connections to another forum ...

It's illegal, that's all he needs to know in my view.. Have to say i'm really shocked that there are so many parents here allowing 14 year olds to have mopeds... My eldest is now 18 and had a moped in the UK and now has his own car in Dubai but he has never asked us for permission to do anything that he wasn't legally old enough for ... I'd be interested in hearing parents explain why they allow it ...

Actually it's quite a funny video, I especially liked the part when the deer looked down the hole and said, It's bad ah ha, you want a sandwich!!!! LOL !! yes... but I thought it was quite pointless (the definition of the two words isn't difficult) until I read some of the comments from people who suffer from depression and found some comfort from the message ... But I still don't get what it has to do with EW !! lol

Yes, I know people who remember anniversaries of family members' passing with their own traditions, I don't think it's unusual. A common one is to go and put flowers on the grave, often with other family members and make it an occasion to do something special in remembrance. It's unfortunate that the date is also her nephew's birthday celebration but I think her decision should be respected.

Try all black Reeboks or similar. They last much longer and your boy can freely play football at lunchtime in them! We've done that for years. Outlet Mall is the place to find them. GL Sorry, I don't agree wearing trainers all the time is good for developing feet and I wouldn't buy them mail order either - so important to get the correct fit. No help to the OP i'm afraid - we always buy them in the UK...If I had to buy them here I would go for Clarks but make sure they fit properly.. Also, the uniform shop in Al Wasl Spinneys usually has them but I don't know what brand ...

Living in AR is awesome & very welcoming- we love it! Each of the Reems has a pool, but you can also use any of the other pools in AR. Exhale gym in Motor City is now sadly closed, but there are lots of other options in both Motor & Studio Cities. Look on FB pages 'Ranches Mums', & 'Ranches Ladies' but you can't join until you are actually living there. Regarding finding a house... Talk to House Hunters or Better Homes RE who both have booths in the AR shopping centre. HTH I think the thing about not being able to join FB community groups unless you live there is a bit daft, I'm sure if you message the admin they would be happy to let you join in before you arrive - they really are very useful and a great way of getting a feel for the place ...

Depends what they post ... so you thumb the post not the person? Just pathetic to thumb a poster, like some form of demented stalker.... The whole thumb thing is pathetic if you ask me ... There will always be people on here who thumb people rather than posts i think it would be better if it was like facebook and you could see who liked / disliked your post.... would soon stop the demented stalkers. why does not liking you make someone a stalker ?

no worries. you can manage easily. only one thing that we can miss in our children is street smartness. back home children live with big families, they can play with children after school. they can spend time with relatives & so on. but Dubai grown up children are very innocent, they are not as smart as back home. Actually, we found the opposite..we don't have a big family so when we go back home my son has no-one to play with whereas in Dubai he is always out and has lots of friends...

Just because your family is geographically close doesn't mean they will be physically close too - when we had ours we lived 10 miles away from our family yet hardly ever saw them !! We never had any support in our home country.. You manage and you can employ help if you need it. Loads of mother baby groups here - search facebook for them and community groups too.. You'll be fine.

We've never had ours below 24 .. I actually think any cooler for a baby, especially aircon cool as opposed to places where the temperature is natural, isn't good ... I think I would be doing more research rather than following just the one "expert" ... we use a company called Belhasa, they always seem to be competent..

Surely the great joy of this forum (apart from getting information which is dull and boring until you need it) is the ability it gives posters to vent harmlessly and save their sanity from being slowly shredded...............without kicking the dog, poisoning DH or firing the maid. oh no LT, the great joy now is being able to down thumb all the people you don't like !! lolol :D

Go to http://www.tesco.com .... I just did an online shop for when we go home at the weekend and noticed some marked differences ... cheerios that we used to pay a premium for here but have since come right down are around 20 p cheaper here !! lol Obviously all our soft drinks are a fraction of the cost here, and cleaning products / washing detergents are also cheaper. UK imports will be dearer here but that's expected.. A lot of the fresh produce here is cheaper if you buy local.. I don't think you can compare petrol, it's pointless - I pay £20 to fill my 15 gallon tank here compared to £45 to fill my 8 gallon tank at home !! lol

People like to moan about trivial things, I don't see the big deal. In London it's the tube and it's lazy drivers, here it's maids. Small inconveniences in the grand scheme of things but surely having a bit of a moan and laugh is better than bottling it up and going nuclear? maybe TDB has forgotten her early threads on here complaining about her husband .... and her young sister in law ... and her wedding .....

As always, can rely on TDB to be the voice of reason. As for this Whistling poster, seriously, why don't you post as yourself - instead of hiding behind a secondary username just to pull out the knife from a posters back (which u put there when you last signed in) and then plunge it in again. You obviously 'know' them on EW at least, to a degree. yep... hit n run, as usual ...

Is it normal , not to be wished A happy mothers Day by your DH ? We have 3 kids who all sent messages....but not a word from DH I wouldn't expect my husband to say anything - I'm his wife not his mother !! Although as it happens, he always does ... I find all the cards to other relationships on MOTHER'S day a bit weird... to my wife on mother's day etc is a bit daft in my opinion...

WARNING! Do NOT go to this salon!!!! Hi ladies, I wanted to post this on here for all to see as I wish there had been a similar post when I Googled the salon to warn me to stay away! I made the huge mistake of visiting the JLT salon last Thursday for a dry trim (surely the most basic of hairdressing requests?). I simply wanted half an inch of the bottom of my hair and a small fringe trim. I couldn't believe what a total mess the 'hairdresser' made of it. My hair was completely different lengths throughout - literally cut in zig zags, there was not one section that was the same length as another. As for my usually graduated side fringe, it was completely butched: it was cut bluntly into a big chunk, graduated THE WRONG WAY and was cut about an inch thicker than it used to be as he cut into my long hair at the side. To say it was a complete mess would be an understatement. To add insult to injury, the 'hairdresser' refused to admit there was anything wrong with it and told me I didn’t appreciate a good cut! It was so bad that I travelled to my usual hairdresser to get it fixed that evening; she was horrified by the state of it! When I first arrived she didn't believe that a 'hairdresser' had done it at all and that I must have done it myself - that's how bad it was. I wish I had thought to take a picture of it as evidence! Now, thanks to Amro Style, I have had 2 more inches cut off my (very expensive) hair extensions which was the only way to correct the absolute mess this man made of my hair. I can’t believe that somebody who can’t be trusted to do a basic trim can ever be allowed near chemicals, colours and hair extensions! Beware – and stay away! Your hair will thank you for it! why did you not go to your usual hairdresser ?

The winner of the "Best Dressed Lady" at the Dubai Cup last night. Sorry but I don't agree, the dressed is drab and positively frumpy, that collar is so wrong and the hat well although you would expect something ostentatious for the races, if it was meant to look like an ostrich collided with a UFO she succeeded. What were they thinking. There must have better dressed ladies there! http://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/caught-on-camera-best-dressed-lady-takes-a-jaguar-dubai-s-great-gatsby-2014-03-29-1.543423 edited by Di@DXB on 30/03/2014 miaowww !!!
