I heard that some theaters won't let kids (age 10, 12, 13) in a PG 15 movie even with their parents there. I know a lot of kids that age who plan to see Catching Fire this weekend including my own! Will they be allowed in? why would you want younger children to see a 15 movie ?

I wonder who came up with all this non-sense ? I think this is just a way to put a bit of "life" in the forum : nothing better than a heated debate over nationalities and [u'>their[/u'> supposedly bad behaviors/habits. :) I think you misunderstood - it's a piece from a British paper listing things British people find irritating - no mention of any other nationality...

it's my opinion that a lot of the time Learning Support is regarded as a bit of a gravy train by the schools here...you only have their word for it that your child is in need of help and an independent assessment is expensive... Even things like the Brain and Learning are run as a business and not cheap... Best to get your child assessed in the UK if you can.

Hi all... sorry for the delay in replying but I wanted to ensure that I got all my facts right before posting on here... I had a discussion with the Head of Transition at Horizon and she verified that [b'>ALL[/b'>[u'>[/u'> yr6 students last year got places into secondary schools. I also approached six of the parents who had children in yr 6 and they have all confirmed that their children and all their classmates got places in secondary schools. But were they at the schools they wanted ? lol I was concerned to see the number of pupils in your class - total 26 - is this typical ? seems a lot... @Colours - the no homework policy was introduced 3 or so years ago as a result of research being published that supported the idea that homework for pupils of this age is not beneficial and serves no purpose... we're at Safa and we have the same (Safa and Horizon were in partnership at the time) - the home links are on the website but I confess we've never done any.... edited by Doubting Thomas on 17/11/2013

With the first we went on a coach trip on his 5th day (first day home from hospital) because we'd had it booked for ages and he was early...from then on I took him out most days if only for a walk round the block...I was an Avon lady so I used to take him out for deliveries, made sure I had a pram with a huge basket underneath !! lol. When the second one came I had no choice but to take him with me on the school run straight away - which I did on foot with him in a sling, then later in a buggy... For me it's the most exciting feeling - walking out with your new baby, showing him the world for the first time and it cant be soon enough...no reason to put it off...

Anybody knows what happened there? Just passed it and saw more then 10 police cars..lots of ambulances and big ambulance bus.. Just as you come from dubai, towards abu dhabi, where al khail goes into emirates road... A tower block under construction caught fire and the workers were trapped...had to climb down the outside.. it's all out now but I think one worker fell.

Ladies I know this sounds silly, but I cannot find my own threads and therefore cannot find the replies! The search does not bring them up? Why? click on your name, in red next to your posts or in the list of members at the bottom, then you will see the date you joined and your post count. Click on the number of posts and they will all be listed.

I would suggest that all Brits go home and fight to save their country. We can't..........it's full. Perhaps Brits should have stayed home in the first place then. It's due to a pathetic Government that could not organise a pee up in a brewery if they tried. Why do you think most Westerners move out here!!!! money

Just to clarify a little, I was merely questioning why that particular link was posted on this forum now. It is neither topical nor particularly geographically relevant to the area, and at any given point in time, social media and the popular press is awash with maps and statistics, which in any case are not always accurate. No attack was intended, just curious as to why figures from fifteen years ago should be highlighted on EW now. like I said, it's doing the rounds on facebook - the artist who put it together has just released it having spent years on the project...

I think in the UK it's usual to haggle when buying second-hand, and here many people assume you've overpriced to allow for being knocked down a bit... Also, when I see some of the items for sale on Facebook i'm shocked at the prices - not suggesting the OP is one but so many people seem to have a hugely inflated opinion of what someone will pay for something... I once saw a pair of child's trainers for sale - they were so scruffy i'd have thrown them out long ago and the lady was asking 85 dhs for them !!

Hello Harrimayne! Maybe you should check with the school first: my son's school used to have a "preferred" bank. But unfortunately for many parents, they just announced recently that from now on they do not accept credit card any more as mean of payment for fees (keeping in mind that the 2nd term tuition fees are due by the 15th nov. and the info was given a week ago) I thought they couldn't ask for fees before the first day of term ?

we've been at Safa over 3 years now and are very happy with it. They no longer have any relationship with Horizon school, but it's probably true that anyone you ask will be biased toward their own school otherwise we wouldn't still be there !! The new building has been decorated since we moved in and it looks more homely now that the artwork has been put up etc... There is also a brand new Safa school under construction off Umm Sequiem road that will be open (insh'allah !! lol) next September - taking up to year 13 I believe...

I agree with Tallybait - it's a bit tactless to discuss it with her...To be honest, if you don't have his phone number, facebook, email or any other way of contacting him then I would be wondering why you would bother sending him a card at Christmas ? This always puzzles me about Christmas cards and i'm as guilty as the next person - sending cards to the same people for years and years, long after you've had any real contact or relationship with them....Relatives are one thing, it's important to remember them, but not so much the newly exed husband of a friend you were at Uni with !!

I posted a thread in hope that somebody here may be able to point me in the right direction in terms of finding a new opportunity and some lovely ladies did just that so thank you. It's a shame though that those who have no intention of helping feel the need to sabotage a thread and scrutinise others. I think it was just a friendly tip that if you are trying to "sell" yourself in the job market then first impressions are important...Listing your years of experience in a senior position could be seen to be undermined by your posts containing several grammatical errors.. My apologies if you are posting in your second language...sometimes hard to tell on a forum with so many nationalities...

I've been working consistently for 8 years with very senior executives in multinational organisations. I just recently took a career break (under 1 year) which was not out of choice as explained below. I really appreciate all the [b'>advise[/b'> thank you very much ladies! I'll register with the agencies you have mentioned. I know I'm being a cheeky mare but if you come across anyone looking for an EA please let me know. That would be fantastic as well :) Is it still a typo if the same mistake is made twice ?

Hi Can anyone help me, what do I need to bring with me to the RTA if i want to change my full irish driving licence to UAE? And what are the RTA opening hours? Their website doesnt say. thanks You need to have your eyes tested at an official authorised eye place, most places have a sign outside on on their window. Also your green slip and drivers license if it's similar to the UK. A photo and money, that's it :) You'll need your visa or EID as well...
