I have never spoken to a native English speaker when calling NKD! I just think they are given awesome training, and C S is very important for the owners! I love their pizzas too :) The Studio City branch has English lads on the phones.... <em>edited by Doubting Thomas on 11/10/2013</em>

Never heard of car seats "expiring"... I can understand that safety standards move on but as BC says, an old seat is still better than one that your child can escape from...

I have always been pleased with them. Their customer service on the phone is superb ( they can actually speak and understand English, without you having to S LO W D O W N) and their pizzas are lovely. Today I placed an order online, paid with a credit card and asked for it to be delivered at 8. They rang the bell at 8!!!!! I am sooooo impressed. Had to share :) edited by Irooni on 10/10/2013 Maybe that's because many of them ARE English !! lol

Singarosa, Im gald your baby is well and you are on the road to recovery, but perhaps you could rethink your next move regarding your complaint because it could be said that you and your husband were more of a danger to your baby than the Dr you're determined to hang out to dry. [b'>Thank goodness you didn't name her.[/b'>Yes, you shouldnt have been left needing a D&C months after your delivery, but you should be thanking your lucky starts that your Dr was as straight to the point with you as she was, and that what she said prompted you into having your baby by C-Section. She must have been feeling pretty exasperated with things based on her experience to have thrown your file across her desk. We think of ourselves as so well informed nowadays but sometimes the little bit of information we do actually have in reality can be a very dangerous thing indeed. Its really obvious you're still very upset and Im sorry about that, and I hope things settle for you soon - but even the language you use to describe your D&C is very emotional because unless you were awake during the D&C how do you know the Dr was freaking out? And if she was freaking out - what does it say about her freaking out in a situation when she is supposed to be calm, in control, and in charge? The surgeon is supposed to re-assure the patient even when the most awful things are going wrong - not be freaking out. As I said Im really sorry you are feeling so bad about things, I'd hate for one of my girls to have gone through this, but please try and read your posts again because they really do say more about your emotions and ill informed judgements regarding your pregnancy and baby than anything else. And by all means complain about the placenta being left behind but please please please be aware of how you come across when doing it. If you're worried about it affecting her performance i'd say keeping her out of touch with her friends and family is more likely to achieve that...

The scam is they don't send you the credit - only text you to say they did, presumably hoping you won't bother to check as it's such a small amount... But I still don't see how that's a scam? Just sounds more of an annoyance than anything else. I also received credit and the guy called at least 5 times. Sounds weird, don't know what they were trying to get at. The scam is that you send them credit when they haven't sent you any, so they make a profit... I don't know what benefit there is for them if they actually do send you credit...

It's the same one but I didn't post it, just read it and it made me smile. Not sure what you mean by inappropriate use of the word. For me it's tragic just what annoys folk over here. sorry, my mistake... The original was called Expat problems or something - a tragedy for me usually involves a death or horrible accident...not breaking a nail...just my opinion. WOW! It's just a word. Sadly more linked to death but so are a lot of other words. I'll consider myself well and truly told off. Good day lol - I did apologise...

That's basic customer service. Why make the customer feel embarrassed over finding out how much the bottle cost? But isn't that the standard MO of a lot of sales staff from certain nationalities - the "oh mam, we only have small sizes; you're too fat for that" or the "oh mam, you need [b'>teeth whitening cream"[/b'> you're never going to forget that are you ? lol

75% of the people that I see shopping in Marks & Spencer are Emirati locals. No big wow to my Arabic, I learnt to count in Arabic before English, and where I grew up we needed to know how to count in Urdu as well. This is not a Govt dept to complain about food prices in Sonapur, or air bags made from children. This is about M & S, a household name. The United Arab Emirates is proud to be an Arabic speaking nation. To preserve the heritage of the UAE, all staff should have basic communication skills for the region. We must go to very different M&S stores as most people I see are Jumeirah Jane types! And M&S is really only a household name in UK, same as Target/Walmart would be household names in USA. Yes M&S have a few branches here, but I suspect if it wasn't for a significant expat population then they wouldn't have bothered bringing a bit of Britain to the UAE. You must be out of the loop. It is the Arab shoppers that have kept M&S going all of these years! They are not here for the expat population, I can assure you of that. If you read what I'd written I said what brought them here. And thankfully, my mind has far better things to worry about than what is keeping M&S Dubai afloat, so being out of that loop is more of a relief than a worry. Now I must go as I'm waiting for the manager of carrefour to complain that the cashier could not communicate with me in Glaswegian. why are you so rude ?

I've often thought it must be galling to shop in your own country and not have all the shop assistants speaking your language...and I agree that a basic grasp of numbers in Arabic isn't too much to ask...

thank you Doubting Thomas. I spoke to a lady at DESS today and she has agreed to accept an application for FS2 which is something. I will also contact Safa and see if they will revive an old application that I put in, maybe they will, the Registrar and other Administrators were very nice I recall. yes, everybody at the school, is nice and extremely helpful... DESS is a fab school, of course, but to be honest, that location would drive me bonkers to have to do every day !! lol

The old Safa school building is a school. No idea if its special needs or mainstream. I saw a sign on wall yest saying British Curriculum registration open. What about the new Kings school Nad al Sheba. No idea when it might open but think its going FS to senior? Someone was looking at the DESS to DESC move and it was suggested that they call they school. Have you tried any schools to see what the wait list is for years already started? You never know. Good luck.. I think you'll find that the old Safa building is a special needs school - the one that was in the news a couple of years ago for closing suddenly... We've been at Safa 3 years now and have no complaints. It has a strong sense of community, loads of sports, after school activities etc..

Out of curiosity! How is Izzy working in an office; spend so much time on EW; don’t miss one thread without commenting aggressively, and do not agree that a housemaid needs a day off when [b'>everyone is on holiday[/b'>. But everyone is not on holiday. Shops, restaurants, events etc don't run themselves. My husband will be working over Eid, as will many others. Agreed - mine will only get one, maybe 2 days... It's the law - maids aren't legally entitled to the time off but if you wish to spoil them that's your choice !!

our LL sold our villa - he gave us 12 months' notice via email and we moved out on completion of the sale to allow the buyers to move in. At no time did the buyers mention giving us notice - they just expected us to leave..

If it's anything to do with your tenancy it won't be valid anyway since your company is the tenant..But if the man knows that then it will be something else. If he's been employed by a debt collector then his job may just have been to bring the papers back with a signature - anyone's would do !! lol Who knows ? When we first moved into our villa I had a visit from Security trying to serve me with a warrant and asking me to sign - the Landlord had committed a "violation" (building works without permissiom).. I refused, he wrote my husband's mobile number down and we never saw him again !! lol When you say "official looking", what did his ID say ? is there a clue ?

We went to Wiesn brunch at the international marine club, organised by German Emirates club, which is a German expat organisation in Dubai. We were expecting a great event for the price of 350 dhs per person which they charge. It was announced that it will run till 5 pm with entertainment for kids, like face painting etc. It was a huge disappointment. The food was very basic, just some sausages, but no other pork specialities and they closed the bar at 3.30! So, please stay untill 5, but without drinks? Kids entertainment was ridiculous: couple of trampolines in full sunshine! [b'>And you have to look after your kids yourself[/b'>. At the end a child even hurt himself there, so it was also unsafe. Music was nice and we still had fun but 700 dhs we paid was a total rip off. Could have a nice brunch in a 5 star hotel. Just wonder if someone had a better experience with Oktoberfest somewhere else? Disgusting !!

why do you say you expected to feel better here ? Do you usually have health issues ? Colds will be common if you are having to adjust to living with aircon and you can expect the odd upset tum with the change in diet. We've been very lucky - we don't have many health problems but I believe that most of the things you list could have happened to you wherever you are- you can't say that it's because of where you live !!

I dont think anyone in Dubai has a healthy scalp. If your not suffering with excessive hair loss you will probably get chronic dandruff. Its the water here. I just dont know what is in it that makes peoples scalps react that way. Cant be good... No-one in our family suffers with hair loss or dandruff, nothing wrong with t he water here. I'd say the sun is probably more damaging .. After a few weeks you will probably find it settles - mine fell out a bit when we first came here but stopped after a couple of months..I put it down to change of water and climate plus maybe a bit of stress with the move etc...
