I can thoroughly recommend Dr Delphine at Motor City MediCentres. She's been absolutely brilliant with us. I never had any feeding issues with DS at all and although DD latched on pretty much as soon as I got her on my chest after she was born, we've had a couple of issues and Dr Delphine has sorted us right out. She's a family doctor but also a lactation consultant which I think is a great combination.

I had this in Geant last week. I bought ten pouches of Whiskas as the shelf sticker said 2.75dhs, and when I checked my receipt at home I'd been charged 5.75dhs each. I could have got Sheba for less than that and that's the brand the fussy little madam likes! I was not amused.

Re Springs, our highest bill last year was 1,800dhs in August. This year our tenant's highest has been 2,700dhs and she lives on her own, is out all day and doesn't cook. I used to be in much of the day, have the a/c on all the time and cooked every night. That article is just brilliant - I laughed out loud! But on a serious note, it's interesting.

I got back into the car today after stopping at the bank and off we went down SZR. Two minutes later I glanced back at DS and nearly passed out as I realised the little toad had got his arms out of his shoulder straps in his car seat. Cue mad panic till I managed to pull over and secure him properly. When we got going again Dad and I had an interesting conversation on attitudes to safety as we went past a shiny, new, top-of-the-range BMW with two or three small kids bouncing around totally unsecured inside. Venting, pointless, whatever - it provokes discussion and raises awareness. That can only be a good thing.

DS had an awful rash a couple of months ago and as others have said, it turned out to be fungal. We were trying all sorts of nappy rash creams and it just kept getting worse and spreading, to the point where whole patches were blistered and weeping. It was finally diagnosed as fungal and we used Daktarin cream on it. It took a good few days to go completely but the cream seemed to help his discomfort pretty quickly. We saw Dr Gupta at the Ranches if that's anywhere near you and he diagnosed it as soon as he saw the rash. Hope you get it sorted, it's horrendous when they're in so much pain :(.

My DD is five weeks old now and at 2.5-3 weeks she seemed to feed all the time. I think perhaps she was having a little growth spurt or something. Anyway, I was feeding on demand but not being too careful about which side she had. She'd been unsettled in the evening for a while but it got even worse at this stage, to the point where she was either crying or feeding (well, kind of latching on but just messing around). I saw Dr Delphine Dupuis and it seems the problem was oversupply, so she was getting too much foremilk and not enough hind milk. By the evening she had a tummy full of lactose but was still hungry, with no room to put any more and pain from the gas. Dr Delphine's advice was to make sure, if I offered her the breast again when she was unsettled, that I gave her the same side she'd last had to try and make sure she was getting the hind milk and my body would settle down to supply the right amount for her demand.

What's this Insanity thing? I haven't done any exercise since February when I got pregnant with DD and I plan to start the Shred again as soon as my doctor says it's OK. Would Insanity kill me? Am I better starting with the Shred again before I tackle Insanity?

Six-week check-up on December 8. Lemme at it! I'm not going to get my hopes up, though. After DD was delivered I had my lower tummy muscles rejoined so that might delay things a little. The area is still painful to touch :(. On a positive note, I bought a dress for Christmas Day today. UK size 12 :D :D and it fits me! Might need a pair of those hefty Spanx things to hold the wobbly bits in but hey, it fits. I so can't wait to shout obscenities at Jillian and hate the one on the left for being so damn perfect again.

m_king, that's exactly how I'm feeling now. I started taking medication a couple of weeks ago and when I started to feel better, worried that my feeling better was only chemically induced and I wasn't really 'me' because of it. It's the opposite - I feel more like 'me' than I have done in a long time and I'm so relieved.

Congratulations! So pleased it all went well for you. The only thing I can suggest for recovery is MILK IT. I've only had one section but seriously, pretend you can do absolutely jack all and stay on the sofa. I stupidly let DH see I could get up and about and bam! In no time I was back doing the laundry and dinner :(. Ham it up! And enjoy your new arrival :D.

Ah, the mystery is solved! I popped in to see our tenants today and they said someone had been round looking for me :D. We're in Al Waha villas now but often in and around Meadows and Springs. Thanks for all the replies. I've emailed Dubai NRD and will call them in a few days if I don't get any response. Trouble is, even if I call, there's no guarantee the info I get will apply on the day! Perhaps a visa run is the best bet after all, because 700dhs is a lot for an extension. Someone told me 500dhs yesterday :(.

Hello DC, You havent heard from me for a very long time. I then used a different name for reasons only known to those mightier than me I was banned. Hence the new name & not bothering with the forum. You made a very kind remark to me in a time of extreme stress & anxiety, for which I thank you. :) I remember one lady saying that she returned to the UK with a minimal over stay & was fined at the airport. She wasnt complaining about the fine, she said the person she encountered at the airport wasnt at all nice to say the least. Just wanted to let you know, dont want your Dad having hassle or leaving Dubai with an unpleasant taste in his mouth as we did. Have you had a second baby? Sorry Im comp,etely out of the loop!!! Ooh, I'm intrigued! But you're most welcome and I hope you're feeling better now. True, I don't want Dad to have any stress at the airport as he has enough stress with illness at the moment. Mum will also be with him on the way home and she does not do stress! Yes, we had a baby girl almost a month early on Hallowe'en. Family is now complete :D.

So if he didn't do the visa run and just went to the airport on the 1st, would he just have to pay 200dhs as one day overstay fine or would he be fined the whole eleven days? And how much is it to extend his visa or do the visa run to Hatta? <em>edited by DubaiCat on 26/11/2011</em>

I know, but I have also spent the last two years looking like the side of a house and I loathe it. I've had enough now. I won't make any decisions about whether to have the tuck until I've lost the 20kgs but I just wanted to know what it entails and whether it's worth it so I can have plenty of time to think about it. If I manage to lose the belly while losing the 20kgs then it definitely won't be on the cards but I can see a great big overhang at the moment and I doubt exercise and diet will shift that when the skin is so loose :(. I can get rid of the fat, but how else do I get rid of the saggy bit? As I was walking into NICU one day one of the admin staff said, "Oh, you still have such a tummy". And last week the man in London Fish and Chips carried my shopping out to the car because he thought I was still pregnant. Neither of which was particularly good for my self-esteem!

From what I've been reading SW doesn't restrict the amount you can eat, so I'm guessing that will be OK? You can have as much pasta as you like (I don't get this) and fruit and vegetables, so I think that sounds like it'll be healthy enough for bf'ing. I'll check it out with my doctor before I start anything, though.

We have a BT100 that I was thinking of selling....interested? You can control it from the parent unit, turning volume up or down, music on and talk to baby. Is still in use but was going to sell as weare packing up to moveend Dec so happy to let you have it bit earlier. Will say that if the parent unit is not in the charger, it doesnt hold is charge for cery long now (probably only an hour or two). I've just got a P&T Vibe V2. While I can't comment on whether the smaller child likes being underneath - DD has screamed at me every time I've tried to put her in it so far - from a push-it-around perspective, I love it! Great high handle, easy to manoeuvre, and only 10kg or so. And it folds up in one piece without having to take the seat off. I think it was GBP488 and Dad brought it over, but to S&S it would have been about 800dhs.

He has COPD (emphysema) and chest infections are potentially very serious for him, so we have to start him on antibiotics and steroids as soon as we can. He carries them with him, but I'm just concerned in case we don't catch it in time :(.

Dad got here Monday night and I'm not sure if he has a chest infection :(. My last ER experience at City was terrible so I'm just thinking of options, and if I don't have the hassle of billing departments so much the better. Thanks for your concern as always :) x

Oh, I remember - you very kindly offered us a gas cylinder when ours ran out just as we were about to start our New Year bbq! Ha :) small world. I know DH has the gardener's number so if you need that, just shout. Or you're welcome to pop in and have a look if you want an idea of what we got for the money. I think DH got all the plants from a plant souq somewhere and went with the gardener to get a good price.

Her hCG had doubled the first couple of times she did it but she ended up doing it after 24 hours yesterday and today because she was worried she was losing the pregnancy and went to two different clinics :(. She's six weeks now, so I guess it probably isn't good news if no fetal pole was seen. I'm so gutted for her if it's bad news :(.
