I used the blue Fisher Price one for both my boys. Sturdy and they loved it. Has an arch that flashes and plays music for entertaining and can easily be removed for relaxation time. It also vibrates - this worked wonders in getting DS 2 to get drowsy. The Rainforest one is lovely too...infact DS climed into one over the weekend and amused himself...so it's sturdy and good enough for 1 year olds. hehehehe.. Was it the rocker chair or the bouncer? I think I had the bouncer before my I'm pretty sure my sister had the rocker chair and it was great.

I feel better now. I took DS shopping with me one day in the UK over the summer, and he was in the trolley in the Majestic wine warehouse playing with a corkscrew while bump and I went wine shopping. I did my best to ignore all the stares and the look on the sales guy's face when I asked him where his Sancerre was.

I'd like this new baby to have naps in the Moses basket and awake time with DS and I in the playroom. Am I better getting one of those rocker/bouncer/chair thingies in bright colours for stimulation, or muted colours for relaxation? And does anyone have any recommendations? I had a bouncy chair for DS but I gave it away as it was far too flimsy for his sturdy little frame.

I probably should have mentioned a lot of her issues stem from the fact that her mum left her and her brother when she was nine and he was seven. So weak, maybe, but not without reason.

I think she tried acupuncture when she was trying to conceive naturally but I don't think she's done it since she started the IVF. I'll mention it to her next time we speak :). Sadly she does have a fair few issues that she's tried to work through in the past with therapists, and these don't help with staying positive. She has a tendency to try something really briefly, decides it doesn't work straight away and gives up :(.

If you're Shopping and Shipping from the UK try DaySoft contact lenses. I used to use Acuvue Moist and my BIL recommended DaySoft - 300dhs gets me six months' supply rather than the six weeks I used to get with the Acuvue here.

I'd be getting it checked by a doctor if I were you, especially if it's spreading. If it was infected the Fucicort should help but if that's not doing anything, and neither is the antihistamine, it'd be safer to get a medical professional to look at it. Something flew up the leg of my shorts two days ago and stung me, and it's only just started to go red, swell and itch. What was it that bit you? <em>edited by DubaiCat on 15/10/2011</em>

Thanks so much for sharing your story. I spoke to her on Skype earlier today and she seems to be reasonably positive about this go, but she's so up and down. One minute she's OK and the next she's convinced herself it'll never work, and I just want to do what I can to help :( which is probably not a lot. A friend of mine had a similar situation to yours. We lost touch after a few cycles of IVF and I ran into her at a play centre last year, and I think that's the most excited I've ever been about someone else's offspring! I was so over the moon she'd had a daughter, conceived naturally just after the last IVF failed.

Sorted :D. I was trying to find Skype on the top bar when I wasn't actually using it, which apparently was the problem! Once I had the Skype box up the name Skype appeared top left next to the Apple and I managed to change the preferences. Thanks all :).

Good point - the extra baggage is definitely a plus! I had to offload a bagful of goodies last time I came home because I was travelling by myself and not with DH (I lost my silver this year). I was very sad to see my Pie Minister Toffee Apple pies leave the airport with my brother :(. DH has tried to use the separate business class check-in area - the one next to first class, where you drive in totally separate to economy - and been sent back round to the dedicated Silver desk in the economy area. I guess it's who you get on the day, as per usual in this place :\:.

I've tried the 'clear recent' option but when I start a new conversation with Mum it still shows the text from the time before :(. I don't have Skype next to the apple but I do have it on the right hand side, about four icons down from the battery sign. I can't see preferences on there, though - is that just a Skype option?

How old is your LO? We've been back to the UK about ten times (or more) since DS was born and each time he's been absolutely fine, whether he was 11 weeks old or 15 months. We get him straight onto UK time as soon as we're there, and just tweak his nap times if we need to.

Yes you can, and you can set it not to keep chat history in future. Go to 'tool' 'options' 'privacy' 'advanced settings' click 'delete history' then drop down select 'no history.' click 'save' hth edit typo edited by Di@DXB on 13/10/2011 Sorry, technologically challenged here. I have a Mac and I can't see 'tool' on the top!

But the box isn't on the website :( unless I'm being totally thick and missing it, which - I admit - is highly likely at the moment. I'm after the one with the lid that lifts up so I can use it as a toybox for DS's room. I think I'll pop down there and ask someone if I can't find it (then wonder why I bothered when they haven't a clue what I'm on about!). Shall I add what my nephew says when he gets told off for saying 'I want'? I want an Ikea Hemnes box/chest. Please may :D. He hasn't quite worked out it's 'please may' at the beginning of a sentence and just 'please' at the end. I love it!

Consider the recent riots in the UK. Whatever you think the reasons behind them, it's hard to ignore the 'Want it now, don't care how I get it' attitude of many of the rioters. I personally don't want my son growing up to think he has some God-given right to whatever he wants, without having to work for it or appreciate it. He has a right to my unconditional love, my care, my attention, and everything on #2 from jellymum's list. He doesn't have a right to a Nintendo DS or whatever the current 'in' gadget is, a pair of branded trainers, or his own way all the time (although, at 16 months, he thinks he does!). PS Great post, jellymum :).

Our tenant called JWFI this morning and apparently she was around the 30th caller this week complaining about their DEWA bill going through the roof! They were going round at 10.30 this morning. I haven't heard back from her yet but I'll post when I do (now that I can finally log back in...).

It failed :(. But, she does seem quite positive (I guess all the home tests she did prepared her for the bad news) and she got her period almost straight away so they can go ahead and have another go without delay. I'm going to get sore fingers and toes from keeping them crossed.

Well got my period yesterday heartbroken and p***** off that the Metformin made me late and gave me false hopes :-( Maybe I should wait until after Christmas to try again so I can drown my sorrows in Ireland with my first Christmas back home for 6 years :-) :( I'm so sorry. I did that a couple of years ago. We'd just been prescribed Clomid thanks to a couple of hormone issues, so I figure I'd crack on with my health kick, lose the last couple of kilos, tone up and then go wild in Edinburgh over the festive season before starting the Clomid in January. Instead I spent the festive season looking like roadkill with my head down the loo in my first trimester. Maybe taking the pressure off myself was the nudge my body needed? I don't know. I'm really not sure about the charting if you're on Metformin. I really must get my book back so I can look these things up! Is your doctor supportive of charting? If so it might be worth a chat with him or her.

I've only ever seen one there and while he seemed perfectly adequate for what I needed him for, I wouldn't go to see him for anything I really needed 'help' with. A lady I know recommends Dr Fischer - I think he's South African - at the Cooper Clinic. I have this name stored safely in case I need it second time around!

Hi Dubaicat, I had my 6 weeks scan and everything went well. Saw the yolk sac, fetal pole and heartbeat. I will be going back soon for my 8 weeks scan and to make sure everything is still fine. That's brilliant! Sorry for the late reply, for some reason EW has seen fit to kick me out twice in the past two weeks so I've been unable to post. Make sure you get enough rest and all the best for your next appointment :D.

I remember a programme in the UK entitled 'I Won't Marry White' or something like that, where the TV crew followed a group of youngsters with family origins outside the UK who refused to marry Caucasian Brits. They would only consider marrying within their ethnic communities. I used to get asked where I was from constantly when I was cabin crew, and frequently got told I didn't look British but 'foreign'. As yet, I haven't been able to find any evidence of this in our family tree but who knows?! I was born in one country to parents of two other countries and grew up in another country. I've only ever lived in the UK for a third of my life (well, less now I'm a bit longer in the tooth). Culturally I don't have any other heritage, though. DS carries a British passport because DH and I both do. He was born here, only ever goes there to visit, and likely won't live there until he's old enough to leave home. What does that make him?!
