Hilarious! If we could video these experiences they'd make the best souvenir ever. I had a similar experience in Debenhams years ago. A top I bought had the seam come apart after I'd worn and washed it once. I took it back to exchange it. The manager asked me how she could exchange it when clearly they couldn't sell it again because I'd worn it. Uh, you'd sell it again with a seam come apart?! And she too told me if it happened again they wouldn't exchange it again even if the next one was faulty :\:.

DC, I live in Street 78 which is the street after Street 71 has ended when you turn the corner. Sorry that sounds really weird but it's the street numbering here! Across from me is loads of desert or spare land(?) where lots of people walk their dogs. In the distance, lots of quad bikes too but nowhere near the dogs. As for planes, haven't heard one since I've moved there. HTH That's brilliant, thanks!

Ideally we'd like to be in our new place by the end of June. We go home on Thursday for two weeks, so that doesn't give us a lot of time! I have to call the Layan office first thing tomorrow morning and if we can't get what we want there, it'll be full steam ahead on the househunting elsewhere.

So if I go into Mirdif down Algeria Street, Uptown Mirdif will be on the right, then over the roundabout and past that is 71 street? I'm a shocker with directions!

Is there a way I can look it up on Wikimapia so I know where I'm going? I don't know where small Spinneys is and the last time I looked at moving to Mirdif was when it was divided into the private school side and the other side! :D

WindowSox are great! DS was on his third suction blind, having pulled the first two off, and the little toad can't do a thing with the Sox :D. 180dhs for two and mine were delivered the same day I ordered. Great service.

I got emails from a guy called Gareth the other day and he seemed very helpful. I can't remember the company but his number is 050 3163367. And also Jo and Lynsey from Allsopp and Allsopp but I can't remember either their email addresses or numbers! Sorry.

Dr Andrew Devine at City. Although you could go straight to Sabrina Christensen at the Jumeirah branch of the London Clinic.

Spring rolls - wonderful. Wrong sauce, though. They sent the sauce for the fish cakes instead of sweet chilli. Cashew chicken - excellent as always, now they've stopped putting that coating stuff on the chicken. Mango with sticky rice - different to last time, but still delicious. DH is away from Sunday to Wednesday next week so I think I'll line up a bit more research, just in case of any inconsistency :D.

Three, but four would be nice. I think Layan are 135/140k for four (not sure if they do 3beds?) and I found lots of Waha ones at 120k, so it'll likely be Waha unless a miracle happens and DH stops being Scottish. Do you like it up there? And do you find it far to get places?

Always do what I can! ;) Tonight I shall be reviewing vegetable spring rolls, cashew chicken with steamed rice and sticky rice with mango. I wish I'd ordered DH a green prawn curry so I could steal some but he complained last time I did that.

Thanks. To be honest, I went to Mirabella today and hated it. Not so much the construction aspect - I think I'd be OK with that if I liked the house - but I just didn't get on with the 3-floor townhouse style at all and the 'garden' just wouldn't work with the dogs. So I don't think we'll be looking at any more in JVC as the agent I met today said they're all similar styles. :( I found a floorplan for the Estella and it looks nice so we're going to pop out there and then Al Waha villas.

Are there any independent villas in JVC or are they all townhouses? And TwoKids, which bit of Victory Heights are you in? I saw a four-bed townhouse in Estella for 115k on Dubizzle which I thought was cheap - is that about right or too low?

Oh dear I love Chimes! I know the owner so I will have a word with him next time I see him. Can you tell him the cashew chicken is much better now they don't make it the crispy chicken way? And they sometimes forget sweet chilli sauce :D. Thanks! And also tell him it's my favourite Thai in Dubai!

I did 27 sessions in about six weeks before I got married. Lost 6kgs, lost inches, totally streamlined my shape round my hips and backside, and looked miles better. Have since ruined figure with one baby and another on the way.

Dubizzle is currently under maintenance. I'll give them bl00dy maintenance - do they not know I need to find a new house NOW?! Thanks. I'll try again in a bit once I've had a cup of tea and let my blood pressure go down a bit.

I thought JVT was going to be perfect :( and I think I must have misread an ad on Dubizzle yesterday because I was so sure I'd seen a bigger villa there. Very miffed with self. I want to wake up tomorrow in a new villa with everything moved and in its place. Is that too much to ask?! :D

I am so fed up of house-hunting and I've been doing it for all of two days. And DH is driving me up the wall. He saw you can get a 4-bed in JVC for 95k so now he thinks anything above this is ludicrous money, never mind the fact that JVC appears to be a row of houses in the middle of a construction site. Anyone live in Waha or Layan? Any good? Maybe I should do a search.

We tried to do this a couple of months ago. You can buy miles and gift them to another member or you can use your miles to book a flight/reward for someone else, but you can't 'give' your miles to someone else so they have enough for a reward. DH was a few thousand short of what he needed to book me a flight so we wanted to transfer miles from my account to his, but we couldn't. We had to buy them instead. Of course, this could all have changed in the time since we did it!

Typing with one hand as stuffing dinner down face :D I got my thermometer and recording diary in a package from Boots in Ibn Battuta. Pink box, 95dhs, where all the ovulation test kits are. Am off to UK on June 2 and am happy to bring back some OPKs if you want to order some to Mum's?

Hi Ladies, Just wanted to clarify - my comments below realte to JVTriangle which are the independant villas and two bed. The Townhouses that Nutty is on about are in JVCirlce - i have seen the town houses and they are huge. with regards to JVC road access - no clue. I think Dubai Cat you are best to have a drive around and view both, only then will you see if it is something you can live with - yes cheaper rent and peaceful and big - but also under developed! Your more than welcome to have a nosey around my place if your driving by! :) Yes please! Am just going to make dinner then I'll look on WikiMaps and see if I can find where I'm going :D.

They look really nice villas but how do you feel living under those big pylons? That would scare me! Hmmm. Are they right under the pylons? I wasn't sure so I told DH I didn't think they were as he refuses to live there if they are. I'm not quite sure what he thinks they'll do to him.

Thanks ladies for the reply. Think we will go for the townhouse and not the independant villa as many people have converted the huge upstairs lounge in the townhouse (much smaller in the independant villa) into a 3rd bedroom. Now that they have opened the road from JVT to the spings towncentre in has become an ideal option for us. We negotiated with the LL about the painting and he has agreed to compromise. Think we sneak our own gas bottle in the moving truck as not paying 1500aed, period! Or we may just buy an electric cooker. Dubai cat have a look on wiki maps and you can download a detailed map of the community. Do they have independent villas too? And what's this about the gas bottle?!

Are Jumeirah Village Triangle and Jumeirah Village Circle two different places? I'm just looking on Dubizzle trying to work out where they all are.
