Do you know what day of your cycle you ovulated, and what day of your cycle the test was done? It's called the 'day 21 progesterone test' but really it should be done 7 days post-ovulation - from what I understand of it - so if you ovulated on day 19 then the test was done on day 21, your body hasn't had enough time to start producing the progesterone. It's only if you ovulated on or around day 14 that the test would show an accurate reading on day 21. This is what I was told when I was having the tests. Charting temperatures would tell you when you ovulated and how long your luteal phase (the second half of your cycle) is, both of which would be useful if you do have progesterone issues.

Hi SophW We stopped using contraception around four years before we conceived DS. I had the usual battery of tests and aside from insulin resistance and cysts on my ovaries (but not full-blown PCOS), nothing seemed to be wrong. Then I had the day 21 progesterone test and it was 0.19. I was sure I'd ovulated, as I'd been charting my temperatures and saw a clear thermal shift, so I asked the lab to check they'd sent up the day 21 progesterone and not day 3. They'd sent up day 3. Of course there's no bl00dy progesterone on day 3 of my cycle! Then they eventually sent up the right result and it was better, but not great. I can't remember the exact figure, but my doctor said it wasn't high enough to indicate 'spontaneous ovulation'. We were prescribed Clomid but we decided to have a three-month break from trying before we took it. We had a last-gasp try naturally before this, and fell pregnant. DS is now almost one. Have you been charting your temperatures? It might be worth a go so that you can have a better idea of whether you're ovulating or not. It'll also give your doctor a better idea of where any problems might lie. I do have a book on this but I lent it to another EW'er and haven't had a chance to get over and get it back yet. I can explain it all to you via email, though, if you like. I found it invaluable. And just double-check with the lab that they've sent along the right day's results. Especially if it's City ;).

I had no idea either until somebody mentioned it at a breastfeeding meeting I went to, and then my doctor at home when I saw him about the PND. I said I often got strange images in my head - and it was really bad when DS was tiny - and he explained it all. It made so much sense and it was such a relief to know I wasn't the only one and I wasn't going mad. ETA: I'm so sorry to hear about your previous experience. Have you taken him to the doctor? DS had rotavirus earlier in the year but at seven months old, so I'm not sure if the advice we were given will apply as your LO is much smaller. We had to give him a mixture of formula and rehydration drinks to keep his fluid intake up. We also switched his formula to lactose-free as apparently the rotavirus destroys the part of the intestine that digests milk, so it was easier for him to process non-lactose. His diarrhoea eased off gradually over a period of a week or so, I think. It lasted probably two weeks in total and the vomiting stopped before the diarrhoea did. Best to ask your doctor for advice, I think. Hope your LO is better soon.

Let's just say the shrine won't be top our our list :D but it might be nice to see it. We have two days to fill before we go to Bareges, so I'm thinking we could stay somewhere close to Lourdes (or in Lourdes itself) on the fist night then stay somewhere halfway between there and Bareges on the second. I'm just concerned DS will be bored and want to do fun stuff! This going on holiday with a small person lark is far harder than bogging off for a week in the sunshine as a couple ;).

We are planning to visit DH's friends in Bareges, France over the summer so we're flying to Lourdes. We'll probably have a couple of days either side of visiting the friends, so I'm looking for ideas for what to do in the Lourdes area and where. We'll have one-year-old DS in tow :). Yes, I think there was definitely an element of denial going on for a while. But crucially, I clearly remember telling my Mum I'd read a checklist provided by the NHS on how to spot PND and telling her I could tick lots and lots of the boxes. She said, "Yes, but we could all say that about a lot of things, couldn't we?" I don't think she meant to be so flippant but it really put me off talking about it with her for a long time, and I think that contributed to the head-in-the-sand situation. Thank you. Yup, everyone loves to tell you their story :D. I was petrified of an epidural. As in, more petrified of an epidural than I was about evicting something the size of a watermelon from something the size of a plum. Having it put in wasn't the best experience of my life by a long shot, but it certainly wasn't anywhere near as bad as I'd expected and I quite liked the numb feeling once it kicked in! As Green-ish says, go in with your mind open to whatever you need on the day. And try not to worry too much about it over the next few months. Good luck!

Thanks, we'll give that a go. I tried the soft play place at the entrance to Magic Planet at MOE and heavens, it was a state! Ripped equipment so DS tried to pull foam out and eat it, rubbish - including half-eaten boiled sweets and paper wrappers - in between the floor mats, just yuck. He's absolutely rapid and I ended up chasing him everywhere just to make sure he wasn't eating something he shouldn't! PS Just out of interest, do you eat granola? And if so, do you know a) if it's low-GI and b) where I can get it from? Thanks! :D

Not too late at all - thanks for taking the time to post. And thanks, m_king. I've sent that one along. I really want to help and support her as much as I can, even though she's in Canada and we're here. But I don't want to bumble along and make her feel even worse. Should I ask about it in every email, or is that likely to annoy her? It took us a long time to conceive DS so for a while we were in kind of the same boat as her and her husband, but obviously now we're not as we have DS and we're having number two in November. I don't want to say anything that she might feel is insensitive :(. She is fine, fertility-wise, and her DH just has slight low motility from what I understand. Any tips for how best to support her much appreciated.

Thanks for all the help with this. I finally got my hands on a Curve 9300 and have managed to get myself subscribed to the Lite Usage package. I did have to call and ask for help, though, as Etisalat rejected my request the first two times. The call centre guy helpfully pointed out I was trying to subscribe to Unlimited Global for 295dhs with only 175dhs credit in my account :D.

I t[i'>hink[/i'> the follow-on formula has extra 'bits' in it that the from birth one doesn't. Maybe extra iron? When DS had rotavirus at the beginning of the year, the only non-lactose formula the doctor had was from birth so he recommended we find one that was from six months. Having said that, the Aptamil non-lactose says from birth on the tin and I couldn't find a follow-on one. AP will know - she's my go-to expert for all things BF and formula! :D ETA: I just found this on an Australian site www.health.vic.gov.au but it's from 2007; Follow on formula Follow on formula are available for all of the 3 major protein types i.e. cow milk, soy and goat milk. These are marketed for children over 6 months of age, as they have a relatively higher protein and mineral and lower carbohydrate content than human milk.
