I have an older brother and a younger sister and we're all really close. My sister and I speak daily, and my brother and I speak when I call him! But I know that's only because he's busy and international calls are expensive. I love how close we are and how it's always just the same when we all get together. DH has two sisters. They speak once in a blue moon. The youngest is getting married in August and didn't even tell him. Then they say 'I love you' before they hang up the phone on the odd occasion they do speak..... hmmmm.

DH has a C 7 that he's really happy with. But then I'd say it's more like an iPhone... With a touch screen and keypad. Hmmm. I like the look of them but I've tried to use my sister's touch-screen phone and kept calling people I didn't mean to call!

My sister said the one she took on Air France was a Britax, but she's not home at the moment and the seat is currently stored at our parents' place. I'll speak to Mum tonight or tomorrow morning to see if she can find it and see what the name is. My sister specifically asked AF if she could take the Priori on the flight and they said no, because it was lap and shoulder belt restrained and not just lap. I'm a bit confused, though - the lever that holds the belt in place on the Priori we have in the UK is high up on the back, so does the lap belt reach up there? I know the lever is pretty tight when it's secured so the seat won't move, so it would be pretty safe.

I think from 25 weeks I had one appointment a month, the GTT at 28 weeks (but I had insulin resistance prior to pregnancy so I was higher risk), a growth scan at 32 weeks (not routine, because of the insulin issue), then one appointment every two weeks after 32 weeks. From 34 weeks I think I saw the doctor more than I saw DH! But I had pre-eclampsia so it was over and above routine appointments. For a normal, low-risk pregnancy I don't see why you'd need appointments any more often than monthly, then every two weeks as you get closer. Why not have a chat with a doctor at City and see what they recommend? I did that at my last visit as I don't want to go chasing all the way over to City for every little check-up, so I'm going to my local clinic along the way with trips to City when I really need to. Dr Elsa gave me a plan of what to do and when and it's really not much, even with my previous history. ETA: And do get the hospital to double-check you don't have a limit for ante-natal and then another limit for delivery, as my friend discovered. And I just have to add, when I was typing my post the other day I kept thinking 'pre-natal' was wrong but I couldn't for the life of me think of what it should be. 'Ante-natal', of course! H.A.K nails it again :D. Do, absolutely take her up on the offer - you won't find much better advice or reassurance. I had so many meltdowns when DS was smaller, I thought I was losing my marbles. Still do, some days (actually, lots of days). He was so wanted, like yours, and was a long time coming, like yours, and when it wasn't all balloons and butterflies I felt horrendous that I could even think it wasn't the most amazingly perfect experience of my life. My worst stage was from four to seven months because he didn't sleep at night or in the daytime, and I really was close to a breakdown. I went to see Cecile de Scally at seven months and she set us on the right track. I know DS was a bit bigger than your LO - and to be honest I think you'll probably find she's too small for sleep training right now - but Cecile gave us lots of other helpful tips on how to manage his day and make sure he got all the sleep he needed, and from the first week after seeing her he was a different baby. Consequently, I was a different Mum. I'm in Springs if you want a cup of tea and someone to moan to. After you've emailed H.A.K, of course!

I tried every sippy cup going and DS just wouldn't use them. Then he got hold of my water bottle one day - with a straw-ish top - and that was the end of that. I now have to dismantle the flippin' things to get them clean! Half of the bits go in the dishwasher and the other half get handwashed. Ah well, needs must.

Hmmm - I'll check my security settings. I think they're OK for friend requests but I'm not that tech-savvy so I might be wrong. Ten weeks this week, and I was far too fat too. I was doing my 30-Day Shred religiously and really enjoying it, and finally feeling like I was getting back into some kind of shape (nowhere near the shape I'd have liked to have been in but still, every little helps - I was 15kg heavier than I was when I got here). Now I'm even more far too fat. I'm trying so hard to be sensible with food choices and I really want to carry on Shredding, but I'm so, so tired I just can't bring myself to do it. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll feel better. Wow - one already! This last year has gone so fast it's been a blur. I really can't believe yours is one already and mine is nearly one!

DH had surgery last year and had the same symptoms you're describing. I took him to A&E and he had a massive infection somewhere in his system. I think to be on the safe side you need to go and get checked out - do you need someone to drive you?

I was an expat kid until I was 12 and went back to the UK. There was only one other child at school who had lived abroad, and we were 'odd'. I wish we'd stayed overseas! I do think being brought up abroad made me want to live elsewhere again as an adult. I came here when I was 22 and couldn't wait to be an expat again. We moved (within the same country) a fair few times when I was small and it never bothered me. I don't think I remember any negative experiences of it at all, really. I hope our children have the same feelings about it as I did. I know DH wants them to have the childhood I did rather than the one he did.

I haven't used that particular seat on the plane but I used to be crew with Emirates and if I remember rightly, only car seats that were secured with a lap belt were allowed as the aircraft seatbelt is only across the lap. It's a bit daft, really, because I don't know of any car seats that are only secured with a lap belt! I did see some capsule seats with the 'airline approved' sticker so they do exist, but they'll probably be too small for your LO. My sister took a car seat on Air France with her DD when she was about your LO's age. I'll call and ask her which one it was.

I moved here 1999. I could get from 100 villas on Al Wasl road to my office in Deira - park and be in the office in 15 mins! Remember the bunker very well and Staying Alive in Bur Dubai was another favourite. Brunches were spent at the Alamo! I used to love the quiz at the Alamo! And other nights it used to remind me of someone's cheesy wedding reception!

DH thinks our bill for delivery was 17 or 18k all in. I had a natural delivery - induced - with epidural, episiotomy and Ventouse, and we stayed an extra night because DS had jaundice. I had a fair few extra pre-natal appointments because I had pre-eclampsia, so I have no clue how much all of those would have come to. If you went to another clinic for major scans, would your insurance cover that separately to maternity care at City? You could go to FMC for these if they would. Go through the package items with a fine tooth comb and see if there are any tests or scans you don't need, if you really want City for delivery. In the UK the 28-week GTT is only done for those considered high-risk for diabetes, for example, so you might not need that done if it's on the list. I can't remember offhand what was on there, sorry! I'd say if you are low-risk and already 25 weeks then 20k should just about cover you until the end of your pregnancy and for your delivery. You could always ask the hospital to keep checking with your insurance company so you'll know when you're nearing your limit. ETA: A friend of mine who also delivered at City thought she had a limit of around 17k in total, and she used most of that up with appointments and scans. Then she decided to get the hospital to double-check if she was covered for delivery separately and she was - it'd probably be worth asking again! Go to Debenhams or Marks & Spencers or H&M or Zara or Massimo Dutti or any of the ohter 100 clothes' stores and buy the next size than what you normally wear ..... or the next.... should do the trick. I tried that and ended up looking like I'd raided my husband's wardrobe, and the clothes were still tight on my belly. Sometimes you do really need bits that were made for a pregnant belly - bigger sizes are just meant for bigger people! :D

Ta - I'll start ringing around! I keep finding that even though other customers tell me they're 30dhs per hour or their minimum is two hours, when I speak to them they quote me 35dhs per hour and a minimum of four hours. I guess that's standard market terms now.

It wasn't that she didn't want to commit to a date, it was that she didn't know - and said she didn't know - but clearly wasn't interested in helping me find out. The manager was happy to tell me mid-May. Had the staff member been a little less miserable and rude I might have gone ahead and bought a replacement brand there and then, but there was no way she was getting a sale with that attitude. Hopefully the staff in the new branch will be better.
